Currently owner of 2 Range Rover Evoque. The design is great, but once you drive the car for a week, you begin to realise how cheap everything feels.if they could make built reliable and more solid car it would be amazing
This is not off-road! Try real mud and not a swimming pool please. Off-roading is not off-roading if you have decent grip all the time. Try the same techniques on wet grass. Then you will see the difference.
This video clearly shows why the Evqoue is not an Off Road vehicle: It is missing three differential locks. With locked wheels there would be no spinning wheels. It is completely stupid to have 4 "terrain response" modes and not a single one that locks all wheels (an interesting better option would be one that rotates the wheels exactly as the steering wheel would predict). The Drive Line technique is advertised loudly but complete bullshit. The Drive Line is very cheap to implement, that's the only reason. It's sad that the auto reviews testimony a good Off Road capability, if it's blast away by every car with differential locks. The Drive Line will stop a spinning wheel only after it is already spinning. Then the torque of the other wheel is already completley gone, the car stops. You never stop in harsh terrain as you need the momentum. That car is no besser outside the streets than you family sedan. If a car has ESP than it can actuate the brakes and this is all Rover does in this car. My old Pajero and Frontera will blast the Evoque from the hills for half the price.
The purpose of this "luxuary suv" is not hard-core offroading, its meant to be a luxuary vehicle with better off road capabilities then other 2wd cars.
You always get one lol ,its simple ,its a handbag car that can cope with a little light off road action, its not marketed as a go anywhere 4x4 ,if thatscwhat you want buy a full fat range rover or disco .
You were right half the way but you can't go all the way to comparing it to sedans lol. It's a luxury suv man. I owned the 2013 model and gets me through the desert from where I live every now and then. Differential locks bullshit isn't a must to call it a basic offroad car. It's ground clearance, all wheel drive and wide wheels makes it an ok car for offroading that gets the job done even if the "sand mode" wasn't that good anyway.
Now this is the best sales video thus far!!!

As an owner I can say this car only for city teenagers only. This corporation can't produce reliable vehicles anymore longer. Just expensive toys.
60k car offroud ... XDDDDDDDD
you ever looked at the price for a range rover or a g ?
