  • During one of my SCUBA open water divers a rather disgruntled baby nurse shark decided to take out its frustrations on our dive instructor.
Highly recommend conch republic divers for getting your PADI cert!

@@JakesSaltwaterTherapylmao, hardly. They’re the sweetest and they eat little crustaceans from the ocean floor. They have tiny jaws and teeth and are extremely docile. This one obviously was directly threatened and felt threatened. It tried to get away and was only protecting itself from the idiot(s) trying to mess with it.
I just got back from the Bahamas where we got to hold and pet them. We weren’t allowed to pursue them and if at any moment they wanted to swim away, we had to let go of them and move out of the way if need be. We also were taught to keep our hands in fists and away from them when idly standing in the water so they wouldn’t think we had food in our hands and bite. They’re the cutest and sweetest and like all creatures deserve to be 100% respected. Especially in their own environment, but of course regardless, all the time.

They’re so stupid. That was a baby nurse shark and it was trying to swim away. It was clearly afraid of all the intensity coming at it. Multiple large scuba divers. It gave a little baby bite to try and protect itself. Respect wildlife.
Nurse sharks are benthic feeders and have the tiniest of mouths and teeth. They are extremely docile creatures. Best left alone, admired and respected.

Impossible, these are benthic feeding sharks. They have the tiniest little teeth and mouths. They suck up little crustaceans from the ocean floor. This little baby was completely harmless and trying to protect itself. They are extremely docile and slow swimmers as well. They only bite when threatened or when they think someone has food in their hands (in areas where they’re accustomed to being fed by humans).

Cookie cutter, not a nurse. Nurses average 6 ft.
Cookie cutters are the tiniest sharks, but go for the biggest targets like whales. They even attack submarines, definitely not to be screwed with.
