I have found old chenille bedspreads that are damaged and cut the good pieces into squares. I made quilts with them by adding other cotton fabric. They are so very pretty.
Being Hispanic, my grandmother and my mother and all of us daughters made dozens of tamales. My mom also made prune cakes, carrot cakes and snowball cookies! I miss my parents so much…they were the best of the best! ❤
My mom used to make honey cake. It is a German cookie that is made with honey and dried fruit and a lemon drizzle on top. They are sooooo good. I have the recipe now.
My grandma always made Kolaches at Christmas. So good right from the oven. I make them from her recipe every few years. My mom made tons of cookies and fudge. Spritz were my favorites. At my house, we are now down to ginger snaps, maple fudge, chocolate fudge and carmels. And the grands like to frost sugar cookies. Have a great day!
Oh Holly, you are so sweet and caring! I looked forward to baking and frosting roll out sugar cookies that had a little orange zest and juice in the batter. We frosted with vanilla frosting and sprinkles, Heaven ❤. Happy birthday Tom!
Hey Holly, I am a day late, ‘tis the season….. So I am happy to breathe with you! Thank you for sharing all these boxes with us! ♥️ So much gratitude for YOU, hugging you right back!! ♥️
Our family , its December birthdays, 5,6,10,11,16,18,24,24,31. Both me and my daughter, married December and had our first child in December, thank goodness it has stopped the next generation. Love waking up to your videos, a bright start to the day.
Best holiday treat was hot chocolate with a candy cane in it. We still make for my grandson at Christmas. Good reminder I need candy canes. I loved the fat quarter bundle and the pillow pattern. You can never have too many wonder clips
Good morning, love your outfit and nails today. The gifts are good as usual. My granny made Xmas pudding every Xmas and it was my fav. She would cook it outside over a fire …
My mother made a pantry full of divinity at Christmas. Pure sugar. Do not eat it to this day. My favorite snack is fudge. I made it every Christmas. Tell Tom Happy Birthday. Have s good day and see you next video!
Best wishes and happy thoughts to everyone! Thank you for making me stop to take a breath, I always feel better afterwards, and I don't take a moment often enough!
Our Mom made us home made beef jerky and put it in our stockings. It was so good. Loved the fat quarters today. Such pretty colors. Happy birthday Tom! Blessings to all.
You can do the same with those packaged Panettone things that are widely available during the holidays, and they are also great sliced and made into French Toast!
My mom wasn’t much of a cook or baker. I do remember my grandma made fudge and popcorn balls that were red and green! She also made what she called Chippy Dippy Bars! They were layers of buttery graham cracker crust, pecans, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, shredded coconut topped with a can of sweetened condensed milk and baked! They were one of my favorites! ❤ I’ve made them in the past but this year I won’t be able to do any baking because I fractured my back. I’m hoping the insurance company will approve the surgery before Christmas. I’m told that I would get some immediate pain relief! Fingers crossed 🤞 and praying 🙏 it will happen sooner than later! Thank you Holly for being a bright spot in my day!❤🥰
My mom made German stollen for christmas morning and ambrosia…with grapefruit and maraschino cherries. Ive got great memories of those two things through the years, but attempts to make and serve them as an adult have been met with less than stellar reviews…even by me. I do remember my mom making snickerdoodles, serving some and putting the rest in the freezer for later. We’d steal them from the freezer. To this day, snickerdoodles out of the freezer are the best. :) martha.
Every Christmas/Birthday (since Christmas is my birthday) my Great Aunt Lena would make me a plate of Divinity with chopped black walnuts. Oh how I adored getting this gift as it was and remains my favorite holiday confection! This year seems to be really getting me down. I didn't put out one decoration! A lot of things have been on my mind this year.......missing family and friends that are no longer with us, Grandsons that are in the Military or have moved a thousand miles from home and can't come home or haven't been home in two years (that's a long time for their Nana) and the most difficult thing I struggle with is the condition of our Country and all the hate among our fellow man! I do look forward to our Family Christmas which we are celebrating on New Years Day!!! I wish each of you a beautiful and Blessed Christmas and don't forget the greatest of all is to LOVE one another♥
My Mom made fudge(recipe on back of Hershey Coco) Divinity and nuts & bolts. Loved them all. We make sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and almond Rocca in mass quantities and make a bunch of goodie boxes for our friends. Happy Thursday 💐
As a kid I loved all the cookies my mom made. She made several bushel baskets of cookies and she gave them to everyone….mailman, trash collectors, milkman, neighbors and just about the whole neighborhood. That was my mom’s heart sharing her love! As an adult, homemade Chex mix is my go to. You look beautiful today! Xo. Tell Tom happy birthday!!
What a terrific gift, Lorene (sp) ❤ Small family, mom’s was pretty much the only cook, (except my auntie Claire, who could do no wrong in the kitchen). I’m torn, but certainly dessert. Cheesecake, Grasshopper pie, and her assortment of Christmas cookies. But it wouldn’t be Christmas without candied yams and Snickerdoodles. ❤😊
❤❤❤My mother made marshmallow fudge, divinity, and some kind of bars with chocolate chips and coconut, eagle brand. They were bars. Maybe Graham cracker crust. Apple cobbler. N9w what is strain my mom was the ultimate dieter. If she gained half a pound..l diet time. She never weighed more than a 130. She was 5'5.
My mom's mother AKA Mammy made cutout cookies, also known as sand tarts....she made huge buckets for all of 8 kids, some for each of their grown kids and grandkids. She also filled a bowl whenever company was there... I liked them, didn't love them...but I loved the dough, lol. So I spent a lot of time at my grandparents and I always was given one ball of dough as a treat lol. I have a tradition of making a cheesecake for Christmas now. I miss my grandparents and all the holiday traditions that were lost with them.
My Mom made the most delicious Date Nut Roll - so rich and labor-intensive that we only had it at Christmas. But man, it's gooooood! It's cooked on the stovetop with chopped dates, sugar, butter, old school evaporated milk, and chopped pecans, and then when it's cooked just right, it's rolled in more chopped nuts and in a damp tea towel, and kept in the fridge between snack set-ups. I do have her old recipe somewhere, and was able to find the original recipe online too.
Will you give your overall opinion of the boxes at the end? Ive definitely enjoyed some things about soft squares, but it hasnt been the mind-blowing excitement it was last year. Creekside has also had a few really nice moments, but i havent been motivated to order it for next year. So far the boxes i want for next year are Bella rose and open gate….not convinced id do soft squares again…yet. Id love to hear your thoughts at the end. :) it would be fun to find a bag making advent box. Maybe Sew Lets Be Quilty will do one. - martha
Hi Holly, Your hair and nails look beautiful today. We ate plum dumplings with butter and sugar. And of course we had crescent cookies. My family loves them. I used to make sponge candy for my Father-In-Law. It made him happy. Take care. XOXO Carol from down the road
Hi Holly! Happy bday to Tom! Today is my beautiful daghter's 50th bday! My mamma made potatoe candy. We lived in Virginia, thats where i grew up and potatoe candy is a very old southern recipe. I still make it sometimes. Have a wonderful day!
I got to this late, so happy belated birthday, Tom. Oh Holly an accidental drive by ho ho ho made me laugh out loud. My mother used to make a pavlova for desert at Xmas, it was so full of cream and fruit and the meringue was just melt in the mouth.
Mom made suet pudding. Since it was very labor intensive so we only got it for the holidays. Grandma taught me how to make pies from scratch. This season has been rough for me. My pet rat, Al, short for Fettachini Alfredo died yesterday. Rats make lovely pets. My dog, Cleo, is very seriously ill.
Good morning & happy birthday to Tom! 🎂🥳 Bit of a mixed bag again today. Missouri Star, 1/5 - not a pattern I would make, and it feels like it should have been included with yesterday's charm pack rather than being on its own. Soft Squares, 3/5. I like four out of the six; colors are OK together. Stitch Supply, 5/5 & my favorite item of the day. Creekside 4/5. Love the fat quarter, but it feels a little stingy to only have one. Perhaps I'm just too greedy? (My calculation is it's $150 for 24 days, round that to 25 for eas of mathing & it's an average of $6/day. One fat quarter is not worth $6 IMHO.) Bella Rose, 2/5 - I dislike peppermint candy, and the sock pattern is not my style. What as a child did you like to eat in the holiday season, and who made it? Well, we're gonna count this as favorite thing for Day 19, that's how much I love it: my mom's oyster stuffing. One can of smoked oysters per box of Mrs Cubbison's Seasoned Stuffing mix, combined with celery & onion sauteed in butter, some salt & pepper, and cooked in the bird. Alas, it appears that the stuffing mix might be the victim of shrinkflation, because the last time I made it the oyster flavor was very strong, so I think the ratios might be off now.
I was wondering what I getting a glimpse of when you pulled boxes out of the Stitch Supply advent - there's something under all those boxes but I thought it might be a pretty picture or maybe a coupon?
I like peppermint bark but didn't care for this brand, mine tasted like dill pickles - how weird is that? OH! My mom made biscuits and chocolate gravy - we only got it if it snowed...it didn't snow much in Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee - at least in the places we lived: Huntsville, Bay St. Louis and Jackson.
I have found old chenille bedspreads that are damaged and cut the good pieces into squares. I made quilts with them by adding other cotton fabric. They are so very pretty.
Gobs. So yummy. Christmas is the only time we got them. Mom made them.
Being Hispanic, my grandmother and my mother and all of us daughters made dozens of tamales. My mom also made prune cakes, carrot cakes and snowball cookies! I miss my parents so much…they were the best of the best! ❤
Happy birthday to your husband

Stitch Supply: take a picture of all the little boxes in place before you remove them to find #25.
Thank You Holly for sharing. 🥰🤗❤️
Cream wafers cookies are my favorite. My mom use to make them. I haven’t made them in 25 years.
Thank you for the breathing! 💚♥💚♥
Happy birthday Tom. Have a great day.
Happy Birthday to your husband 🎉

The chenille would go with that floral fat quarter 😊
Happy birthday Tom

Hello Holly, it's so nice to see you. You are a reason to wake up! Thank you for being you!❤
Hey Charlie! You keep waking up, my friend. The world needs your light. So do I!
Best holiday treat was hot chocolate with a candy cane in it. We still make for my grandson at Christmas. Good reminder I need candy canes. I loved the fat quarter bundle and the pillow pattern. You can never have too many wonder clips
My Mom made the best date nut loaf candy. I miss it. Love you Holly, be blessed❤
My grandmother made the best cinnamon rolls. I have her recipe, but I am now gluten intolerant..🙁. But I will never forget how they tasted.
Good morning, love your outfit and nails today. The gifts are good as usual. My granny made Xmas pudding every Xmas and it was my fav. She would cook it outside over a fire …
Happy Birthday, Tom!! God danced when you were born!!❤❤😊
You must be one of the kindest people ever. Your memories are so similar to mine growing up. Thanks for being you!!❤

Blessings to all.
Love the B box fabric!
I really love those nails! And even though those aren't very long, they'd get abused where I work. 😮
My grandmother made German stolen that remains a Christmas memory for me. It was actually pretty dry, but toasted with butter and honey, yum!!
You can do the same with those packaged Panettone things that are widely available during the holidays, and they are also great sliced and made into French Toast!
Happy birthday Tom!

@ thank you! It means a lot to me!❤️
Oh I'm so sorry! Prayers for fast healing of your back!
@@sharonframpton1887 thank you so very much! My husband and I have faith that God will get us through this difficult time! 🙏❤️
Love the fat quarters from Soft Squares!!!!
Fresh coconut cake - my mother was a wonderful cook!!!

Socks are very comfy and cute!
Love the Soft Squares fabric, very pretty. Liked all the fabric you got from todays advents. Happiest of Birthdays to Tom.

We used to call those bars "Hello Dolly Bars."
@jonnaosborne1832 thank you
That Missouri star project looks sooo fun. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time.
My parents would make tamales. It involved the whole family in spreading the masa on the corn husks. It was mighty good. How is Dandelion doing?
Tom loves tamales and having grown up in Mexico City, he's fussy about his tamales. Dandelion if doing very well, thanks. xo
Happy birthday to Tom and to you for next week. Love your podcasts ❤

They forgot the hydrate in the eat, sleep, quilt socks!
Hello… I love the fabric you got today🤍🩶🩵
We have Birthday season at our house too! 7 in six weeks.

I will give my opinion at the end. Will also be picking the item that got the most golden buzzers.
Hi Holly,
Your hair and nails look beautiful today.
We ate plum dumplings with butter and sugar. And of course we had crescent cookies. My family loves them. I used to make sponge candy for my Father-In-Law. It made him happy.
Take care.
XOXO
Carol from down the road
I love peppermint bark. Everyone is a 2 for me today except Bella Rose. I have one daughter with a December birthday. Have a great day
Hi Holly! Happy bday to Tom! Today is my beautiful daghter's 50th bday!
My mamma made potatoe candy. We lived in Virginia, thats where i grew up and potatoe candy is a very old southern recipe.
I still make it sometimes. Have a wonderful day!
Electric boots. So cool. Boxes not as exciting this time. We always had spritz cookies, popcorn and egg nog. In front of the fireplace.
Holly you moved the bird feeder so it could be seen.lol but there is a snow flake in the waay.😅
Will do. I'll move it a little closer to the window, too.
My Grandma made pickles. I wish I had her recipe

My mom made fudge and I got to “sop the pot”. Do non Southerners know that term?
Happy Birthday Tom!!
