I believe Canada and Mexico main customer is USA with 80% of export going to USA. It will cause catastropic economic issues with Canada if they prevent Canada goods going to the USA. Reduction in production = layoffs. Canada will need to strategize and find demand somewhere else with partners that is willing to pay the same cost USA is paying for their goods or sell at a huge discount. Mass layoff impact is far and wide with the surrounding business + people that lives around the community.

When the Canadian government charges these import taxes to Canadian businesses, they will pass on those costs to Canadian consumers. The only way this can be good for consumers is if the Canadian government CUTS OTHER TAXES that we pay by as much or more than these import tax increases.

Challanging time for everyone. Everyone that keeps saying lets just stop providing energy or goods to USA don't understand that shutting down and excluding export to USA will damage Canada more. I believe Canada and Mexico main customer is USA with 80% of export going to USA. It will cause catastropic economic issues with Canada if they prevent Canada goods going to the USA. Reduction in production = layoffs. Canada will need to strategize and find demand somewhere else with partners that is willing to pay the same cost USA is paying for their goods or sell at a huge discount. Mass layoff impact is far and wide with the surrounding business + people that lives around the community.

Tariff imposed by Canada = import tax that a Canadian citizen or business pays to the Canadian federal government to bring in products from another country. Did you get that? When the Canadian government charges these import taxes to Canadian businesses, they will pass on those costs to Canadian consumers. The only way this can be good for consumers is if the Canadian government CUTS OTHER TAXES that we pay by as much or more than these import tax increases.
