I truly think they realized how good they were very young. They started singing in 1958. They had hits in the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, and even some in the early 2000s before Maurice passed away in 2003.
In my opinion the best musicians and songwriters to ever live!! I believe that they are legendary. They wrote over 1000 songs!
No one can harmonize like these 3 brothers!

No. In the 60s they used their natural voices. All of their voices are unique. Best harmonies ever. How Deep is your Love, Fanny be tender with my love, Jive Talking, Run to Me, Nights on Broadway, Night Fever, You Win Again...40 plus years of hits. Your ears are going to thank you 😊

Barry wrote this song when he and his wife Linda were married for 7-8 years.
They have celebrated 53 years of marriage so far.
All profits are donated to UNICEF and is concurring 20 million dollars so far.
Never, EVER will the BeeJees be replicated.
NO band, duets, groups OR solo vocalist ever came close to the BeeJees who wrote and sang 100 number one hits.
Barry discovered his falsetto first while doing the soundtrack for the movie. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
    Robin followed suit.
    RIP Andy Gibb
    RIP Maurice Gibb
    RIP Robin Gibb
    NEVER FORGOTTEN

Perfect song, perfect pitch. One of the sound technicians Alby... once said that Barry Gibb laid down 27 tracks of the same song and all tracks were EXACTLY the same. How perfect is that? They had 100 top 10 hits way back then, not just stayin alive. Love to hear your reaction to Jive Talkin or their later You Win Again, also a chart topper in the late 80s. Their 90s hit For whom the bell tolls is also wonderful. Too many to mention

Top 10 Male Falsettos #1: Barry Gibb. In this history of popular music, there are specific falsettos that align with a particular genre, but none more so than that of the Bee Gees' Barry Gibb.
During the recording of “Nights on Broadway”, producer Arif Mardin asked for someone to harmonize while shouting in the background, Maurice recalled. That was the first time Barry sang Falsett.
“I thought, my God, where did this come from? I can do this. All my life, I never thought I could do this”, Barry joked.
He married his wife Linda 1970, at the age of 24 and they are still married, having 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
The BeeGees donated the song "Too Much Heaven" to UNICEF in 1979. Since then, the charity has raised around $11 million in royalties.

When Barry, in the middle, was 6 and the twins (Robin and Maurice, pronounced Morris) were 3 their mother thought that her sons forgot to turn their radio off. Their mother open the bedroom door to turn the radio off and heard her children singing in perfect harmony!

It's always remarkable to me, hearing reactors saying things like "why I've never heard so much about Bee Gees"? Well, in case of dozens of hits by their own or written by them for others, album and single-sellings, liveconcerts and fans, they are top notch! Just kinda supa-heavyweight. But most of medias and so called music-critizens nearly always tried to put them into sort of lightweight. To me, they are in a level of their own, where simply nobody else is to find. Their catalogue of more then 1000 songs is everlasting, so shame on those, which were treatin' them ugly. Wanna hear another 'disco'????? (to me, danceable, funky-rockin' R&B) song, check'em out with 'Tragedy'. Out of the sixties: 'To Love Somebody', early seventies: 'Run To Me', eighties: 'You Win Again', nineties: 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' and a song from 2001 'This Is Where I Came In'. Have fun!

Hi Johnny, oh my god the Bee Gees - they bring back so many memories! I grew up with their music. To Much Heaven is from 1978.
Their first big hit was 1968: Spicks And Specks (#1 in Australia). Or listen to Words, World, Sinking Ships, To Love Somebody or Massachusetts - all early hits.
The falsetto singing began in 1975 with Saturday Night Fever (Stayin' Alive). Barry has also collaborated wirh Barbra Streisand, one song from the album Guilty is Woman In Love. Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers popularized Islands In The Stream.
There was also another brother, Andy Gibb, also a musician, who died in 1988 at the age of 30. He wasn't a member of the Bee Gees, but had a voice very similar To Barry's.
Thank you for bringing back a lot of good memories! 😊

The Bee Gees have a lot of songs, I recommend listening to tragedy, love you inside out, and if you want to listen to a song where they sing more normal tones you should listen to how deep is your love.
But there is a ton of great songs made by the bee gees or songs written by the bee gees.

They are brothers that had hits over 5 decades. Their falsetto sound started in the mid 1970s, but they had many #1 hits in the 1960s too. And more through the 80s, 90s etc. But each decade their sound was totally different. If you want more falsetto, “Love You Inside Out” is one of my favorites. And if you want 1960s try “I Started a Joke” or “I’ve Got to Get a Message to You” - both have lyrics that choke me up. For 1980s try “You Win Again”. And 1990s maybe “For Whom the Bell Tolls” or “Alone”. As for when they knew they had something special, they were just kids. There’s some video of them singing from 1960 & 1964 that’s worth checking out too. Thanks!

Bee Gees (among the most successful groups of all time) wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was climbing charts world wide (already #1 in US & Canada, #3 in UK) before the Jan 1979 fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated, in perpetuity, ALL their royalties, not just from the UNICEF event, merch & compilation album (as the other bands did, though some just for a limited time), but also their publishing rights. So, UNICEF continues to get paid, from anyone’s version & any use (including in movies, TV, commercials, etc). As the 1st band to make such a donation to charity, they were recognized for it by UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim & invited to the White House by President Carter. The last official tally I saw was 2017, saying UNICEF had received more than $11 million from it, for emergency food & healthcare. I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found a solid source for that. Barry included the song on his 2021 hit album, Greenfields, so that (duet with Alison Krauss) will bring UNICEF even more $$.

They were writing songs about love and broken hearts before they ever dated. They've all been lucky in love. The one in middle since like 20 or 21. When the oldest was 9 and the twins were 6 their mom went to tell them to turn down the radio and found it was them singing together in perfect harmony. That's when they started performing.

No, the Bee Gees don't always sing in falsetto. They did not discover their falsetto voices until years after they started singing.
The Bee Gees are the 3 Brothers Gibb (hence Bee Gees). Barry was born in 1946. Robin (long blond hair) and Maurice (pronounced Morris) are fraternal twins born in 1949. Their career ran from 1958 to 2009. One of the great things about the Bee Gees and their long career is that they were constantly growing and reinventing themselves.
The Bee Gees wrote and produced for 1,000 songs. They have sold over 120 million records worldwide (with estimates as high as over 225 million records sold worldwide), making them among the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; the Hall's citation says, "Only Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees." With nine number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, the Bee Gees are the third-most successful band in Billboard charts history behind only the Beatles and the Supremes.
Here's a small sampling of songs that are not disco and in which they don't sing in falsetto.

These guys had no formal training, mum was a singer, dad in the band... The boys couldn't read music... discovered all of their falsettos while recording "Nights on Broadway." One of the twins called Barry a "Hit machine." His musical instincts are spot on. He wanted to put some extras in a song they were recording, the tape rolled, he did the bits he wanted, it fit in perfectly with no messing around. All from Barry's head, nothing written down. He actually had 5 hits in the top 10 at one stage, by different artists. He told his dad he only put emotions to music, when asked, how did you write so many hits?

The brothers are harmonizing with one another in unison as one and not trying to override another. Like a truly thing like love ought to be. If you want to go down the rabbithole then maybe take the songs from they started till the last song they made.
They first performed in 1955 in Garmount Theater in manchester UK, Barry was 9 and the twins were 6.
They moved to Australia in 1958 and their first single were The Battle Of The Blue An Grey from 1963.
Their first number 1 (In New Zealand) was Spicks and Specks in 1966. After that they moved back to UK.
In 1967 they got their first chart succes with "New York Mining Disaster 1941" and also scored their first UK number 1 with Massachussets.
That year they also made their most covered song called "To Love Somebody"
They after this recorded a number af chart toppers around the world like "I Started A Joke (1967)", Words (1968)", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", First Of May"
In 1969 the brotheres had a falling out and split for a periode of 18 months. Robin had a solo hit with "Saved By The Bell" and "Barry and Maurice continued as The Bee Gees and had a similar hit with "Don't Forget to Remember".
They were back together aging in 1970 and here made 2 songs in one afternnonn after their reunioon. First "Lonely Day's" released in 1970 and then "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" from 1971, which were their first US number 1.
In 1972 they had a hit with "Run To Me", but after that their career went downhill. In 1974 they got the produce ArifMardin to work with them on 1974 album Mr. Natural. It was not a hit but a promise of what to come in the unimaginable years from 1975 to 1979.
In 1975 they made the album Main Course and here they used the falsetto for the first time on "Nights On Broadway" and they really played with the sound on the song "Fanny" Also this album gave them their second US number 1 with "Jive Talkin.
From 1975 to 1980 they wrote 14 us number 1's.
    1975: Jive Talkin'
    1976: You Should Be Dancing
1977: Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman), I Jut Want To Be Your Everything (Andy Gibb), (Love Is) Thicker Than Water (Andy Gibb)
1978: Too Much Heaven, Shadow Dancing (Andy Gibb), Grease (Frankie Valli)
1979: Tragedy, Love You Inside Out
1980: Woman In Love (Barbra Streisand)
At this time they were thehottest on the planet and they were played all the time. This caused some US radio ataions to advertise for Bee Gees Free weekends and that was the start of another downhill turn for the brothers, That and the Disco Demiltion night where a DJ had an even at halftime at a baseball game where socalled disco records where blown up in the niddle of the pitch.
They were suddenly person non grata in the music business and therefore they layed of making music in their name for a while after their 1981 album Living Eyes.
They instead wrote for other artist like Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross and also made some solo albums, especially Robin.
In 1987 they made a new album called E.S.P and here they had the song "You Win Again" that went number 1 in the UK. Their last number 1.
After this they made 5 quite succesful albums One (1989, High Civilization (1991), Size Isn't Everything (1993), Still Waters (1997) and lastly This Is Where I Came In (2001).
Maurice died in 2003 and after that The Bee Gees more or less died out. Robin died in 2012. That leaves only the big brother Barry who is still active.
In 2021 he released an album that went number 1 in the UK called Greenfilelds. He was 74 at the time but still sound great.

Barry learned that he had an amazing vibrato after their producer listened to the recording of the song, “Nights on Broadway. The producer listen to the song and said, “it’s too bad one if you can’t scream in tune!” Barry said he would try it and that famous vibrato was born!

@@PowerfulReactions Thank you for replying back....most reactors don't....as a die hard Bee Gees fan.....I can tell you will NEVER be DISAPPOINTED in what your are listening too. They were the 1st group to EVER create a drum loop....their drummer had to fly home because his mother was ill when they were getting ready to record "Stayin' Alive" so they went into the studio with Karl Richardson and Albhy Galuten (producers) and using the drum sequence from "Night Fever" they spliced the drum sequence and created the 1st EVER drum loop. No auto tune.....just pure God given TALENT....they wrote, sang and eventually produced their own albums. They are the GREATEST A GROUP EVER!!!!

The Bee Gees had fantastic harmonies and no they sang in normal range too especially in their early years. They had loads of great songs through different genres and decades and even wrote for other singers. They were one of the best groups to come out of the UK.

They have a catalog of songs, they wrote all their music and many hits for other artist. How Deep Is Your Love. You Win Again. Jive Talking they had hits in the 60’s 70’s 80’s and 90’s their song in the 90’s that was a big hit was To Whom The Bell Tolls. When they were very young I’m talking 9 or so Robin and Maurice were twins. Their mother heard this music coming from their bedroom and was mad cause she thought they had the radio on and opened the door to tell them to turn it off and it was the boys singing. Just great music , to grow up with

    Love your Bee Gee reaction!
The Bee Gees were more than just disco! And can vary their voices to fit the song!
I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of these, but here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under:
Too Much Heaven (R&B) (you r acted to this one)
How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard)
    Staying Alive (disco)
    Night Fever (disco)
You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco)
Fanny be tender with my love (R&B)
    Jive Talking (R&B)
    Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)
    Tragedy (Techno? Pop)
    More than a woman (Disco/R&B)
    Love you inside out (Funk/pop)
    To love somebody (R&B)
    Massachusetts (pop/country)
    Alone (pop)
    Love So Right (R&B)
    Lonely Days (pop)
    You Win Again (pop)
    Run to Me (pop)
How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B)
    Kiss of Life (rock)
Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country)
    Bodyguard (R&B)
The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor)
Some that only the avid Bee Gee fans might know that you might want to react to:
    My Lover’s Prayer (pop ballard)
    Letting Go (pop ballard)
    Subway (R&B)
    You Stepped Into My
    life (Funk/r&b)
    Children of the World (pop)
    Search, Find (pop or R&B)
Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung), alone or with his brothers (Robin &!Maurice Gibb):
If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman)
Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, Gibb wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs.
Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, Barry wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD
Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, Barry wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals.
Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, Barry wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals.
Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background.
    More Than a Woman (Tavares)
    Love Me (Yvonne Elliman)
Come on Over (Olivia Newton John)
Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it.
    Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli)
Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer)
Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb
A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;)

Imagine that there were actually radio stations running "Bee Gee Free" periods during the 1970's. The more you listen to their music you find out how talented they were as singers and songwriters. All pure and natural and not enhanced. This song always brings a tear to my eye as I was a teenager when it was new.

Even 70s stations hardly ever play the Bee Gees...to this day. It sucks. (The stations, not the BeeGees). Some Radio DJ decided he was going to make people hate the Bee Gees and formed huge groups of people to protest them and all disco. Look it up, its true. The were amazing.

I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of these, but here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under:
Too Much Heaven (R&B) Went to #1
How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard), went to #1
Staying Alive (disco), went to #1
Night Fever (disco), went to #1
You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco), went to #1
Fanny be tender with my love (R&B). Quincy Jones said this was his favorite R&B song. It’s a favorite of mine too.
Jive Talking (R&B), went to #1
Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)..you’ll hear the brothers “natural” voices in this song.
Tragedy (Techno? Pop). It also went #1
More than a woman (Disco/R&B) One of the best love songs ever made!
Love you inside out (Funk/pop), went to #1
To love somebody (R&B) One of their earlier hits, from 1967!!! You’ll see how young they were.
    Massachusetts (pop/country), went to #1
Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special or live from their 1979 Spirits tour. They sing in their natural voices on this song.
Alone (pop): One of the songs they made late in their career.
Love So Right (R&B), One of Barry’s best falsetto songs ever.
Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour). Barry pours his heart out on this song and they show his wife & son on screen some while he was performing it.
Lonely Days (pop). One of the first songs they wrote after they got back together when they briefly broke up in 1969 then got back together in 1970 to write this.
You Win Again (pop), If you want to hear some 80’s Bee Gees, this is a good one. Went #1 in the UK
    Run to Me (pop)
How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B). The other song they wrote when they first got back together after a brief breakup. It was also their first #1 in the US
Kiss of Life (rock). Shows a diverse side of them.
One (pop), their last top 10 hit in the US
Wedding Day (pop), a single they wrote for their wives! All of them had been married for a while. Barry is will married to this day to Linda for over 53 years!
Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country). Shows diversity!
Bodyguard (R&B), Robb really shines on this song that could have been played on any R&B radio station!
For Whom the Bell Tolls (pop), again, Robin shines on this one.
Blue Island - live (pop). This song shows the perfect blend & harmony the brothers have. Especially if you do the acoustic one. Just the 3 of them with 2 guitars!
Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop). After their brother Andy passed, they started performing this during shows in honor of him.
Secret Love (pop). I love the best to this song! Barry & Robin leads.
This is Where I Came in (live) (pop). From the very last CD they ever released. There is a live version out there from a tv show. That's a great one to see how they have evolved into the 2000's!
The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor). This is a little long (over 12 min), but they go through about 7-9 songs in this medley with just the 3 of them around 1 mic either Barry in the guitar.
If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try:
    (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979
    (B) The making of the song "Just in Case"
    (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001
