I absolutely love Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. The original DKC was a great game but ultimately quite a simplistic one. DKC2 refined the formula AND added to it with the addition of many collectibles, the tag team system, more animal buddies (plus the transform system) and the secret world whilst refining the gameplay including having each of the Kongs having more of a unique play style. It's such a superb game 😊
I can’t think of amazing sequels without thinking of Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, it just expands on the first game in about every conceivable way and while the pacing may be a bit more uneven, the highs are so high that it doesn’t ruin my enjoyment of it. Also have to give an honorable mention to Color Splash as a sequel to Sticker Star. Color Splash is no where near my favorite Paper Mario, but as someone who hated Sticker Star, it’s astounding how Color Splash took so many of the things that didn’t work in Sticker Star and made them work so much better with small changes. Not an amazing game but it’s an amazing improvement which is what sequels are all about.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not only my favorite sequel but also just my favorite video game in general. NEO: The World Ends With You is fantastic and manages to bring back characters faithfully while still containing its own amazing story with strong new characters. The combat is also super fun and the style is carried over into 3D surprisingly well.
For me it has to be Pokemon Black 2 & White 2. Expanded the world, lore, story, soundtrack, post game,, characters and features of the originals and set a standard that unfortunately no pokemon game since has come even close to matching. With out a doubt the pinnacle of the franchise imo.

As much as Street Fighter II deserves all the respect in the world for defining modern fighting games, I feel like Capcom leans on it too much for the sake of nostalgia. Hopefully Street Fighter 6 finally uses its likely placement after SFIII in the timeline to finally move things forward & rely on the World Warriors a little less.
Uncharted 2 and portal 2 are 2 that really brought those franchise to an almost perfect level. Although street fighter 2 was not only a far and beyond the first game which seems like a prototype in comparison, but street fighter 2 pretty much defined everything fighting games have been since.
The first time I beat Legacy of Goku 2, the Hercule I got was already at level 50. The next time I beat the game, that save file's Hercule was level 1. No idea why. Hercule was great to play as for the novelty. The only bad thing was that he replaced Goku's character slot.
Witcher 3, honestly. Witcher already had a fanbase and the came Witcher 3 and just knocked the franchise into mega popularity. There's so much effort and time that was put into Witcher 3's gameplay, world and characters. I really do love what they did with that game. I just fear what they will do with the next Witcher games.
_Soul Calibur 2._ Introduced guest characters, refined the fighting mechanics to make it both perfectly accessible for newcomers and extremely exciting for veterans, gave us some of the best single-player options the series has ever seen to date, and gave audiences a hell of a first impression with an opening cinematic that still gives me goosebumps. I'm biased because this was the fighting game that got me into fighting games, but I rarely see it brought up among the pantheon of near-perfect fighting game sequels. Street Fighter 2, MvC2, Melee, Samurai Shodown 2, Mark of the Millennium 2001...c'mon, Soul Cal 2 100% deserves to _at least_ be talked about in the same conversation.
There's alot of great sequels. But here's my list. . Super Mario Bros. 3. The best NES Mario game and one of the best Mario games overall. Introduced alot of elements that became stapled and also help involving the platforming genre. . Super Mario World. Another great sequel and shows what the SNES is capable of. . Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. The most underrated 2D Mario game and definitely improved from the first one. . Super Mario Galaxy 2. I love Galaxy 1. Don't get me wrong. But I feel like Galaxy 2 improved an little bit of the gameplay & has the best level designs out of any 3D Mario game. . Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong Quest. This is an perfect example of an improved sequel. The first one was great. But this one took to an whole new level. . Crash 2 & 3. The first one was fine. But hasn't age well. These 2 improved heavily and made Crash Bandicoot an unique series. . Spyro 3. I know some prefer 2. But to me, this is the most well polished and also the best collecthon/open world platformer I've played that took what works with 2, removed some flaws and make it an well balanced & paste game. . Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The best classical Sonic game on the Genesis and one of the best Sonic games IMO. Great gameplay style, unique levels, awesome soundtrack and more. Wario Land 2, 3 & 4. These games are just too damn good in there own rights. Land 1 was good. But these expanded upon it. Great platforming challenge, unique puzzles and just fun overall to collect. . Mega Man X4. Probably the best X game. I love X1 & X2. But X4 is just close of being perfected X game. . Mega Man Zero 3. I love the Zero series. But Zero 3 is the most well balanced and most fun than the others. Perfect blend of gameplay, structure & mechanics, amazing level designs, great upgrades & collectibles and an awesome story. . Bayonetta 2. The first one is fantastic. But I do think 2 is an little bit better in terms of the improved combat and structure. Both are great. But Bayonetta 2 is something special. . Super Metroid. Definitely where the series started getting really good and I still thinknit holds up remarkably well. . Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I don't know if I count this as an sequel. But it is an follow up to Rondo of Blood. So whatever. What can I say? It's awesome. Still holds up and was responsible for the Metroidvania style games along with Super Metroid. . Dragon Quest 3. This one is technically an prequel since it happens before Dragon Quest 1 & 2. But who cares? It was an damn good sequel that improved on & where the series started hitting in the right note. . Pokemon Black 2 & White 2. The only Pokemon game of that Gen that gotten an sequel and it shows. The first Pokemon Black & White was good. But this one expanded more on the gameplay, more lore, great characters once again, the content, everything. This is exactly how I expected to have in a Pokemon game. It's got everything. It''s still to this day my favorite Pokémon game. . Batman: Arkham City. Arkham Asylum was awesome. But this. This is what I call an Batman game. . Portal 2. I thought it couldn't accomplish the first one. But boy! Did it proved me wrong. Fantastic game. . Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'll admit. I'm not the biggest Zelda fan. But this is one of the few that I loved and it was an step of the right direction for the Zelda series. Improved gameplay, better combat & items, inventory, creative worlds & dungeons, cool soundtrack & so many more. I dare say this is my favorite 2D Zelda game. This & Link Between Worlds are tied for me. . Zelda: Majora's Mask. Hot take. But I liked MM more than OoT. It was so beautifully and crafted that I just couldn't get enough of. . Trials of Mana. Plays like Secret of Mana. But with improved mechanics, levels, character variety, bosses and so on. . Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3. The first one is classic. But these 2 rocks in terms of the more unique gameplay & mechanics. Especially 3. That's all I can think of for now.
Jake. I wouldn't say weak. Just wasn't as narrative or toned as BW1 was and it does go in an Team Rocket, Magma & Aqua or Galactic route of plot wise. Yeah. Though I do think it handles way better than those IMO; not only because it's not as stupid and at least worked on why there doing it, but also the characters traits are more likiable and threat than Magma, Aqua, Galactic and even Rocket ever has. Especially after the events of BW1 it happened. Some follows N on being good. While other followed Ghetsis for world domination after there failure in the first game. And I meant the lore being more foretold & characters were great. I didn't say anything about the story itself being amazing. But still fine as it is.
One of my favorite sequels is definitely Dragonball Xenoverse 2. It basically improves on everything from the original, story, characters, etc. The first Xenoverse wasn't bad, but there was definitely some room for improvement. Fortunately, Xenoverse 2 shines in that regard. Plus, the DLC the game has gotten helps it a lot. Xenoverse 2 is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I definitely prefer it over the first Xenoverse.
Best #2s in gaming (imo) Super Mario Galaxy 2 Banjo-Tooie Mega Man Zero 2 Gunvolt 2 Mega Man Legends 2 Mario Maker 2 Mega Man 2 Rayman 2 (DreamCast) Crash 2 Spyro 2 Ghouls 'n Ghosts Strider 2 Darkstalkers 2/Nightwarriors Revenge Metal Slug 2/X Mega Man X2 Mega Man BN2 Star Force 2 Donkey Kong Country 2 Sonic 2 Sonic Advance 2 Fatal Fury 2/Special KoF '95 Samurai Shodown 2 The Last Blade 2 (criminally underrated fighting game) Kirby's Dreamland 2 Zelda Oracle games (basically Link's Awakening 2) Xenoblade 2 Mario Strikers Charged Castlevania 2 Belmont's Revenge Wario Land 2 Doom 2 Pac-Man World 2
Agree with Brandon that Kingdom Hearts gameplay gets better as they get along. Might also be influenced by the fact 1 and 2 were the last games I played in the series like Brandon's Caveat.
2 is great and I don’t want to take that away from it….. but it has some problems. Some problems that 1 doesn’t suffer as much from if at all. And that alone would make 1 better but 1 also has a better story and a better all around cast so yeah I can’t put 2 above 1 personally.
Can u guys do a discussion on your dream games. I mean not like on an existing IP I mean if you had to create your own IP video game what would it be and how would it play?
This is a niche as heck series. But Summon Night Swordcraft story 2 and 3 vastly outclass the first game. I can’t comment on the story of 3, since that never got localized. But 2’s story is a lot more personal at the very start for the main character. Since they play a part in how the main Villain starts off the plot. Though 3’s gameplay is a lot more smooth, as you get a brand new weapon (that being the Bow and Arrows), which make the game kind of dumb fun. But also, you finally get to play as your secondary Summon character!
I still enjoy the simple story of KH1 and the writing over KH2’s messy plot. Like Derrick said the worlds had almost no exploration. The KH2 battle system was fantastic though
I recognize KH2 improved the battles and general gameplay, but it just didn't feel as wondrous as KH1. All the collectibles, the magic system, and the story of KH1 was just so much better to me.
I like KH2, but idk if it's just cause I haven't gotten far enough in it yet, but I really hate that they got rid of the dodge roll and being able to swap targets you lock onto. It makes the early game combat feel really weird because there's some attacks I could've easily dodge rolled around, but the game says no
@@UltimateTS64 You actually can swap targets in KH2, it's just done with the right stick instead of L2/R2. Also, in KH2 Final Mix the Limit drive form let's you unlock dodge roll.
Both of my top two favorite video games of all time are sequels: Sonic Adventure 2 and Kingdom Hearts 2. Kingdom Hearts 2 because while the sequels beat it in terms of gameplay, the story and character development was top-notch: if the series had ended after KH2, I actually would have been satisfied SONIC ADVENTURE 2 will always be my all-time favorite game, simply because of the multiplayer: my siblings and I would waste entire weekends playing against each other in every mode it had (yes, including treasure hunt). My only regret is that we never beat the main stories: that's kind of why I want Sega to re-release the games
I think outside of Street Fighter 2 levels of improvement from the previous game, I'd argue Pokemon gen 2 and Rayman Legends are objectively some of the best sequels, because they basically just have the previous game in them, more or less.
Funnily enough, the first game that came to my mind when I saw the title was DBZ Legacy of Goku 2. Part of what makes it such an amazing sequel is that it's just such a dramatic improvement over the horrid original. Going from a borderline shovelware first game, to a genuinely good good game in a sequel. The visuals and audio are better, the gameplay is better and actually works, it's way less buggy, etc.
Majora's Mask. Not only did it strongly follow up a candidate for greatest game of all time, it introduced so many unique mechanics and really challenged players to the ultimate gauntlets of Zelda at that time
I ADORE the Worlds and Drive Forms of Kingdom Hearts 2, the story beats and sequences you play through... But I still kinda like Kingdom Hearts 1's combat and world design, the exploration platforming and enviromental puzzles muuuuch better. Fornthose of you that call me insane, what I like about the combat in KH1 is, essentially, the tech points, and the fact that it's more basic. KH1 WANTS you to LEARN and make the most of the combat mechanics, it actively TRIES to teach you through the bonus exp for: Blocking and deflecting projectiles Parrying enemy attacks Casting elemental spells and taking advantage of weaknesses Hitting the weak spots of a boss. All of which give bonus exp for playing smart. In Kingdom Hearts 2, the only thing you get for playing smart is not dying (to the bonus bosses especially). Aside from maybe some cheese tactic that breaks the game, Kingdom Hearts 2 EXPECTS you to know EXACTLY when to attack, block, dodge... When your attacks will interrupt the boss or not, when the boss will interrupt YOU, what can or CAN'T be blocked... But never makes an effort to teach you these things, nor "requires" them UNTIL you get to the endgame or bonus bosses. I also prefer KH1's more balanced "mix melee attacks with magic" system where you can run out of mp, but gain it back in little increments with your strikes, vs "oh, did you need to heal because you made too many mistakes? Now you can't cast anything at all until we say so".
Crash 2 and Spyro 2 were such vast improvements over their predecessors its ridiculous so they immediately come to mind. Sonic Adventure 2 is also a big one, as is Def Jam: Fight For New York.
Honestly idc if it doesn’t count as a proper sequel, the best sequel of all time is the sequel to what people consider to be the best game of all time. Holy shit Majoras Mask is so damn good, and possibly the best thing about it is it doesn’t try to be OOT. It’s almost like Nintendo knew they wouldn’t be able to top OOT so they said “why try, let’s do something else.” And man is it just so so so good.
My favorite direct sequels have to be both KH2 and Batman Arkham City. KH1 is a good game, but due to being the very first one as well as an early PS2 game, the combat isn’t really its strong suit. Then KH2 goes all in on the combat by making it much more fluid, cinematic and fast-paced, and despite getting half a dozen KH games since, I personally don’t think any other game in the series has ever topped its gameplay. And it also had such a satisfying conclusion that I honestly would’ve been entirely fine if the series simply ended here. As for Batman Arkham City, it felt like a natural expansion to Asylum since you go from a more Metroidvania-oriented game with a closed-off asylum to this sprawling city where criminals crawl at every corner. It’s just so satisfying to explore the city, beat baddies, and find any hidden Riddler trophies or new sidequests, and it along with Insomniac’s Spider-Man are by far the best comic-book/superhero games ever made. It also helps that it has a very investing story with plenty of twists and turns, along with an ending that I doubt most of us saw coming. Origins and Knight were enjoyable as well, but there’s just something about City that consistently makes me come back to it. Honorable mention goes to Mother 2/Earthbound since even if I didn’t play Mother 1 until later on, it’s basically an improvement in every way due to axing random encounters and being way less tedious and grindy.
I know a lot of people didn’t know it was a sequel until recently, but Nier Automata. It kept all the things that made the first one unique and special whilst also ironing out all the issues and adding infinitely more to make it superior
Speaking of a less known game, I do really like Turrican 2 for the Amiga and Commodore 64, which I played recently on the collection of the series for the Switch, since the first game is pretty good overall, with a lot of exploration on the levels, but it has a lot of flaws in level design and repetition. Turrican 2 kind of fixes all, the levels are better designed with better sense of direction without lossing the exploration part, plus less bothomless pits with no indication they are that, more weapons that are super fun to use, better action, far better bosses, improved shoot em up levels since the ones of the first game were pretty simplistic, and more, really a fantastic sequel in every way with a killer main theme too.
It's one thing to improve upon the original, but being able to stand own and have its own unique identity while retaining what made the original so great speaks volumes in its own right. To that effect, I think Majora's Mask has to be one of the greatest sequels out there. How does one follow up one of the greatest games of all time in just around a year and a half? Somehow, Majora's Mask did it, and even did it well. Despite being based in Ocarina of Time's engine, it feels like an entirely different game with the inclusion of the three day cycle, the setting, lore, and tone, and the masks. While it might not definitively surpass its predecessor (although many will argue otherwise), it breaks the mold and becomes so much more than the sum of its parts. It would have been so easy just to make another OOT, but the way that Majora's Mask still stands out of its shadow and is celebrated all these years later just goes to show how worthy of a successor it is, indeed!
its good I know Im not alone getting confused with the Alice level, I was stuck on it for two weeks. The worst part was I was borrowing from afriend and it took up all that time.
I disagree strongly regarding Earthbound Beginnings. It is a phenomenal masterpiece that can be enjoyed completely independent from the rest of the series.
Really? It's as janky if not more than the average Famicom JRPG, which are dreadful standards for a game to have. And Earthbound rethreads a lot of the plot points of Begginings, but better.
I haven’t finished it yet, only about 2/3rds of the way through but man, I gotta give a shout out to Neo the world ends with you. I liked the first game but I wasn’t in love with it and thought it was a bit overrated, still good, but overrated. 2/3rds into Neo though and I am HOOKED, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next, the story is just so much more interesting to me. The reapers game actually feels like a competitive death game in this one. In the original I never got that vibe of a game.
It may not be the best in the series but dynasty warriors 2 is a massive upgrade from the first one. Being that the first one is a weird early 3d fighter. It even kinda gave birth to the 3d hack and slash games.
That first game, the fighting game on PS1, is still the only game I've played in the series! (although I own FE Warriors which I've yet to try) Which Dynasty Warriors game would you suggest?
My favorite sequels are Kingdom Hearts 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Definitely Forbidden west. Played the first one for a while and couldn't go on after having experienced all the improvements done. It's literally night and day and I mean if The Last of Us can get a Remake then I hope the first horizon does the same but with all the QoL updates and maybe the combat?
Ace Attorney Investigations 2 improved everything about the "eh" first AAI and made it one of the best games in the series. I'd name The Great Ace Attorney 2 but the jump in quality wasn't so big.
In my book the sequel that changed everything was Dragon Quest III. A lot RPGs both old and modern owe a lot to the game for making and or codifying tropes that are RPG staples.
Heartgold Black White 2 Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 Lego Batman Dc Superheroes Maybe Persona 4 arena and P4 DAN Blazblue CP Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo 4 Maybe Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 Bakugan Defenders Of The Core
You wanna talk about sequels that people don't really think of as a sequel or hell don't even realize is a sequel, I raise you Metal Gear Solid. It's practically unknown to people outside of it's fandom but MGS1 is a sequel. In fact it's a sequel to a sequel. Metal Gear Solid is the third game in the Metal Gear franchise (and actually, it's technically the fourth.) Being preceded by Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX2, and also Snake's Revenge on NES which was a non-canon sequel to the NES port of Metal Gear 1 that Kojima had no involvement in. Is it the best game in the franchise? No not in my opinion (that would be MGS3) but without it this massive franchise would've been seen as nothing more than a forgotten obscure 8-bit series with barely a presence in the west.
Surprised no one mentioned link to the past, still the best 2d Zelda, one of the best ever games, and really set up a lot of mechanics that were staples for others in the series. Without it there would be no ocarina of time and Nintendo’s whole landscape would be very different
I absolutely love Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. The original DKC was a great game but ultimately quite a simplistic one. The only thing I didn't like was that they removed route 10. Everything else was perfect
Based take right there
Pokemon White 2 is amazing. Also really good music too. Sprite art was solid as well.

Worth playing 2 without playing the first game? Only own White 2 or the B&W games but have held if playing it.

Sonic 2 (if I technically can't say Sonic 3 & Knuckles)
Donkey Kong Country 2
EarthBound / Mother 2
Pokemon Gold/Silver
Spyro 2

Melee transformed Smash. Bros from a fun idea to a celebration of Nintendo's catalog, and it's what got me so into gaming as a celebratory passion.

Well, can you blame them? Street Fighter III nearly killed the brand. They have had to play to safe for a reason
It'll be super interesting to see what the canon ending of 3s is
Guys. Can you please put timestamps on these videos where you talk about separate games?
Uncharted 2 and portal 2 are 2 that really brought those franchise to an almost perfect level.
Although street fighter 2 was not only a far and beyond the first game which seems like a prototype in comparison, but street fighter 2 pretty much defined everything fighting games have been since.
The Spider-Man 2 movie game is also one of my fave sequels. Was the first Spidey game to be sandbox and it introduced physics based web swinging.
The first time I beat Legacy of Goku 2, the Hercule I got was already at level 50. The next time I beat the game, that save file's Hercule was level 1. No idea why.

Personally I feel BW2 is weaker story wise, but is bigger content wise
Ouendan 2.
Added a new rival team. Quality of life improvements. Great soundtrack.
Cool new modes.
Not a fan of background music since I play some games while I listen to you and it gets chaotic

Damn straight KH2 was a great sequel
It's my favorite game in the series 🤗
@@natoriousthehopeful2786 Even as someone who enjoys the games after 2, I still think 2 is the high point of the series.
Sonic 2 is also a nuts game.
Agree with Brandon that Kingdom Hearts gameplay gets better as they get along.
Might also be influenced by the fact 1 and 2 were the last games I played in the series like Brandon's Caveat.
Xenoblade 2 might be my favorite sequel from a story perspective. It just makes both the first game and the second game so much better.
Agreed: I love Xenoblade 2
I agree, I played 2 before 1, and because of that I couldn't enjoy the first because I felt the sequel was a better game overall.

@@VincCachipiruli my exact experience xenoblade 2 in 1 of my all time favorites
2 is great and I don’t want to take that away from it….. but it has some problems. Some problems that 1 doesn’t suffer as much from if at all. And that alone would make 1 better but 1 also has a better story and a better all around cast so yeah I can’t put 2 above 1 personally.
For me:
Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Kingdom Hearts 2
Portal 2
Half-Life 2
Uncharted 2
I like how Steve wasn't part of the discussion so he just covered his bases in the description lol.
Both of my top two favorite video games of all time are sequels: Sonic Adventure 2 and Kingdom Hearts 2.
Kingdom Hearts 2 because while the sequels beat it in terms of gameplay, the story and character development was top-notch: if the series had ended after KH2, I actually would have been satisfied
SONIC ADVENTURE 2 will always be my all-time favorite game, simply because of the multiplayer: my siblings and I would waste entire weekends playing against each other in every mode it had (yes, including treasure hunt). My only regret is that we never beat the main stories: that's kind of why I want Sega to re-release the games
Agree with you on KH2. I also believe it has the best gameplay in the series, only being beat by the KH3 ReMind dlc
I'm with you. I played SA2 so many times on GC that i consumed the disc, and the multiplayer is one of a kind experiences.
@@danielebagnasco1123 TRUTH
@@TechnicalOtaku I loved the ReMind DLC
@@danielebagnasco1123 I loved SA2 Multiplayer
I think outside of Street Fighter 2 levels of improvement from the previous game, I'd argue Pokemon gen 2 and Rayman Legends are objectively some of the best sequels, because they basically just have the previous game in them, more or less.
I also came into kh late. With 3 about 2 years ago I think
For me Sonic 3 and knuckles is PEAK 2D Sonic
Funnily enough, the first game that came to my mind when I saw the title was DBZ Legacy of Goku 2. Part of what makes it such an amazing sequel is that it's just such a dramatic improvement over the horrid original. Going from a borderline shovelware first game, to a genuinely good good game in a sequel. The visuals and audio are better, the gameplay is better and actually works, it's way less buggy, etc.
I'll go topical and say Wii Sports Resort was a pretty big improvement over the original.
KH1 WANTS you to LEARN and make the most of the combat mechanics, it actively TRIES to teach you through the bonus exp for:
Blocking and deflecting projectiles
Parrying enemy attacks
Casting elemental spells and taking advantage of weaknesses
Hitting the weak spots of a boss.
Please consider adding time stamps for future videos. Thanks!
No one mentioning Super Mario Bros 3 and A Link to the Past was surprising
Halo 2 is one of my favorite sequels of all time. The way it expanded on the story by adding the Arbiter was fantastic.
Kingdom Hearts 2
Uncharted 2
Sly 2
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call
I love the Vita music around 2:00 in
I know a lot of people didn’t know it was a sequel until recently, but Nier Automata.
Before watching the video, I want to say that my favorite sequel is The Thousand Year Door
Half-Life 2 // Portal 2 // Street Fighter 3rd Strike // MvC2 // Super Mario Bros. 3 // Sonic 3 & Knuckles // Resident Evil 4 // Uncharted 2 // Mega Man 2-4 // Majora’s Mask // Super Mario Galaxy 2 // Sonic Adventure 2 // Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow // Super Metroid // Halo 3 // MGS3 // SoulCalibur 2 // Tekken 3
Ratchet and Clank 2 is the best game in the series! The weapons, the upgrades, the gameplay, the music, everything was soooo good 🔥
Ratchet and Clank is such a good series that I have a hard time picking a favorite. Almost all games in the franchise are great.
Crash 2 was such a huge improvement over the original
I like most if not all the games mentioned in the comments that I've seen, but everyone sleeping on Titanfall 2 🤷🏾♂️
The most underrated FPS game in my opinion.

Resident Evil 4. It was so revolutionary back in the day, changed the genre of the series, and is still one of the best games of all time.

It's gotta be SSSSSSUPA MARIO BROTHERS 2 BABYYYYYYYY

its good I know Im not alone getting confused with the Alice level, I was stuck on it for two weeks. The worst part was I was borrowing from afriend and it took up all that time.
Ever so slightly disappointed Derrick didn’t mention Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I know how much he loves that game.
How much better than the first game is it though?
@@dcashley303 In my opinion, a good deal, but I know that’s controversial.
Team Fortress 2
Super Metroid
Steer Fighter 2
Half Life 2

It may not be the best in the series but dynasty warriors 2 is a massive upgrade from the first one. Being that the first one is a weird early 3d fighter. It even kinda gave birth to the 3d hack and slash games.
That first game, the fighting game on PS1, is still the only game I've played in the series! (although I own FE Warriors which I've yet to try) Which Dynasty Warriors game would you suggest?
@@dcashley303 because it's on a ton of platforms most likely 8 and the fans all hate 9 because they tried to make it open world but failed.

Majoras Mask, Kingdom Hearts 2, Paper Mario the thousand year door are among the best.
My favorite sequels are Kingdom Hearts 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
KH2 has the best combat of any action RPG for me, so it’s gotta be KH2 for me
Definitely Forbidden west. Played the first one for a while and couldn't go on after having experienced all the improvements done.
It's literally night and day and I mean if The Last of Us can get a Remake then I hope the first horizon does the same but with all the QoL updates and maybe the combat?
In Ash's absence I'll mention Mega Man 2!
My favorites that I can think of are Diablo II and Metroid Prime 2.
Mass effect 2 and dead space 2 are the best in their series, so much fun!!!
Isn't DQ3 an prequel though?
@@jaretco6423 Story wise, yes. But as a game itself I'd say it fits being viewed as a sequel

I was waiting for melee!!!!
Much more melee to be played
Here’s a sub bub
Surprised no one mentioned link to the past, still the best 2d Zelda, one of the best ever games, and really set up a lot of mechanics that were staples for others in the series. Without it there would be no ocarina of time and Nintendo’s whole landscape would be very different
It's definitely better than the NES ones.
