As the water cleans the riverbed, you might have the time to reflect on the enormous progress you made on your land and on your skills. Watch out for a burnout. Take time to breathe and let the whole adventure sink in. I hope you are able to continue these inspirational videos for a very, very long time.
Great call thank you, I'm so looking forward to some quiet reflection time in the darker months ✨
Thanks for sharing this video of the River in spate.
Maya, every week you work so hard, taming your little patch of Portugal. I'm so glad to of found you among the drama vlogs of "Portugal off grid". You are a quiet achiever 😊
Thanks I appreciate it a lot💪
Hi Maya, look, bags of cement and lime shouldn't be left directly on the floor. place some blocks and boards at the bottom to make height
River rocks also works wonders in trenches and it's not so unsightly
Miya you are so joyful no matter what is thrown at you. You do everything with a spring in your step. I admire your tenacity.. keep doing the amazing job you’re doing. Thanks for sharing your journey with us 😊
I’m glad your drains worked. It can be so important to make sure the water goes where you want it and doesn’t do any damage.
You must put some wood under The ciment bags, Will preserve from umidity 😊
As usual Maya your are incredible! 💕🙌
I eagerly wait for every update coming from you, as each week we can see how much progress you made. Cudos to you for all that hard work you doing to preserve you "little" piece of Portugal.🤗🤗
I'm pleased to see you have just the best friends, who help you.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey!!!! You are such an inspiration !!!!! Your property is truly magical and you have made it that way with all of your hard work and dedication!!!! I look forward to your videos every Sunday and I just marvel at your progress. I admire so much your attitude!!!! Keep up the good work you are an amazing young lady!!!!
You are living my dream. How wonderful you are doing it and living. It's so fun to follow you! You are a real fighter.
Hi Maya you need to put gutters in the roof and will help take the water from the walls. Good job 👍
She is waiting for them to be delivered.
A suggestion Maya about the concrete and lime bags you relocate to the ground floor - Don't set them directly on the floor or against a wall. The concrete and lime will attract and absorb moisture through the bag and when you go to use them in the spring they will be solid blocs. At least raise them off the ground and away from the wall on a wooden pallet. 😊
Yes, I had the exact thing happen to me once upon a time,.. It's always much better to learn from other people's mistakes!
Hey Maya. You should look up Kris Harbour. He lives off grid and specialises in building in timber but he also makes hydro power solutions which you would really benefit from there. Lots of free electricity 😮 he’s on RUclips and lives in Wales UK
Best is buy it when need, even stored in good place, it will go bad quite fast.
@@juhajuntunen7866 I agree. Buying these products as needed is the best practice. 👍
That was a good job of directing the rainwater so that no damage occurs. the stream becomes a raging river, very scary
Water control is very important when you live in area you are now.
Oh wow!!! what a transformation from one season to another. The river has really come alive.
Beautiful to see the transformation of nature in the autumn rain. Still a good moment when it looks to be clear weather for a week to sow and rake in some grass seed on and arround the roads/path's to retain the soil.
I love the video, can i just give a small piece of advice, dont cross the river in those makeshift bridges during a rainstorm, its easy to slip and get dragged away by the water. It happens every year in Portugal, during the floods
Como diz o provérbio: Mulher prevenida, vale por duas. Meteu mãos à obra e fez um bom trabalho com as valas. Só lhe faltam as caleiras nos telhados, para afastar as águas das paredes. 👍
It's so beautiful!!! The nature is amazing and I can imagine a little bit scary as well! :D
✨🙏✨your so hard working.. thank you for sharing your journey ✨🙏✨
Alle Achtung..du schaffst ja was…meint man im Sommer nicht, wie heftig das im Winter regnet…😅 hoffe du bleibst weiterhin trocken in deinem Holzhaus
You have done an outstanding job this year!!! Living on your property during the heavy rain season gives you a whole bunch of new information about things you can fix next year. It is a good thing. Rest now! You’ve done a LOT!
Looks like time for a water turbine - will keep you powered all winter by the looks of the river ❤
Maya's trademark: "JOEHOOEEEEE".... You sure have a great selfmanagement going on. Love your whole attitude! Proud of you! 😍
Thank youuuu
The drains are great. Plus, observing the natural flows will allow you to find other hacks to keep the flows in future off your paths and steps. Great progress and admirable.
Yes, i don’t think you need the dimple plastic in your drains. If you have extra rock, rubble or crushed stone you can place that in the trench to avoid to much wash out. Might I suggest a landscape fabric near your house trench to keep the weeds from regrowing and maybe a filter so you Pool doesn’t fill up with sediment and dirt from the ditch. Once you have you rain gutters that Pool will be useful to collect water. But you might need some fish to eat up mosquito larvae. 😊
Gosh you did a lot of work! When I saw your raging river i wondered if you’d considered using it for hydro electricity in the future?
You deserve everything that comes your way, you are not afraid of the HARD work,so good to see a woman having a got .I look forward to your videos.Noreen. Australia 🦘
You have such a beautiful estate, and indeed everywhere where there are no plants or trees the soil will be washed away.
Keep up the good work.
Hiya ,you have done so much to your land .I would put a proper drainage pipe at your gate to stop the land washing away and build a room around your shower . Also paint your leaking cement floor with water proof cement paint .Your such a inspiration to lots of people but remember to take time out for your self .your health is important Maya .👍👍
Your strength and focus are inspiriational.
In the river you can make energy for you
It’s always hard work when preparing for the changing of seasons. Great job!
your a hard working women . May you succeed in your dream home..
Wow Maya i know the mass of water can make one nervous but it is so beautiful❤❤❤
Oh maya you have come sooo far already🎉🎉❤🎉
You may need a wider trench with river rocks in places and possible a bridge.
Hi Maya, really enjoying watching your journey and all the things your doing. You could harness the power of the water during winter time with a water hydro system. Stay safe x
You are a courageous, strong with very high will God Bless you 🙏🏼 ✨️ 🙌 ❤you
Good idea to place wood under the cement bags on the floor.
It’s wonderful to see all the rain ☔️! Stay safe an enjoy it. It’s your water for next year & it’s beautiful. Vanessa from Oregon USA 🇺🇸😎
It is an anxious time when it really rains. Well done with the ditches.
I love hearing you talk❤
So beautiful! We are so envious of your rain, from Australia ❤🎉
Try pulling the wheel barrow instead of pushing, it is a lot easier.
You could convert your wheel barrow to have two front wheels and be more stable on the hills. Land looks great, stay safe.
That harvest is so beautiful and bountiful.. wow!! I hope Paul got some of the grapes 🍇
You should never put bags of concrete directly on the floor. Put a few of those blocks under them.
Land scape looks good in the rain.
Wow! too much work to do all by yourself, I admire you for your strong mind and perseverance. You will see your hard work pretty soon.
Wow what a difference a day makes in the rain. Hopefully all your hard work has paid off and the little houses stay dry inside.
What a nice crop you harvested. Love watching this channel, good work with all your projects
Jee Maya werend you sceard ppfff lots of water energie and power comming down you did a great job whit the tremges ❤
The power of mother nature i hope it doesant flood your garden ❤😊
Maya I admire your work ethic. Hope the rain stops for you so you can continue working on your project. I think it will help when you can get the guttering up and now you know where the water wants to run I’m sure you will get it sorted for ongoing. Good luck ❤❤🎉🎉
This crazy woman is so inspiring. x
I love following your adventures!
Hi Maya this is a very good video
You pick the right place plenty of water enjoy
Here we’re we are we are on drought 🙏👋🍻
What a power of work you put in to prepare for the rain! Might be better to put the lime & cement up on a pallet as damp may come up through the floor
Wow! A lot happend.
Goodness me Maya! - All that hard work and you always in such high spirits You deserve all success. Blessingsxx
Fortunately the river remained in its bed. Things went wrong in many places. Like with me, the river has taken all the ground and walls with it. Enjoy it but don't underestimate the water power. Take care of yourself, you make beautiful videos. regards
Maya, these videos are so delightful and informative! Well done :o)
Whether it wet or dry you are very happy with your home
You've done an impressive pre rain job, everything works really well.
But the water fall you have coming diwn your steps, but looking at it if you just dig away all the clumps of grass and abstruction any water in theory should bypass the steps.
You could always clear that corner and make it nice and sort the issue. As if you really needed to use the steps in this weather it is dangerous.
And your safety is paramount, as we all love you. ❤ Xx
Enjoy your jam, it looked really nice. X
E assim ainda pode aproveitar a água para o jardim
Que mulher de "garra"
Que trabalho fantástico estás a fazer por aí
Beijinhos de Sintra
Great Job you did good. All ready for winter. Now you can watch what happens to your land this winter maybe use the water for power too. The power of the water is amazing. Be safe. Journey on. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Portugal
That stone was to keep the water from running inward to the door.
Wow! You really do get a lot of rain there. Maybe you need a culvert under the driveway area. We use a lot of them in Texas to allow us to bridge driveways across drainage ditches.
WOW water is so powerful
Best of luck to you 🤞
Maya… I admire your spirit and grit. No swimming in the river ?😅😊
Hi Maya, in future try and pull the wheelbarrow with your back towards the wheelbarrow if you carry any heavy load and up or down stairs.
Wow !!!
Thanks Maya for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you girl in divine light 😍, you are always so happy I like it about you, good work 👍😀💪👌👏👏👏🐔.
You did a great job on the trenches. 😊
Amazing work you have done in yr land!
Beautiful ❤❤
Namastê 💖😘
The size of that spider on 4.43 🥲 omg
Oh yes.... I saw it too.... Winded back the video to see it again... or was it a mouse? something big!
@@Pilot333 I think it was a spider 🫠 or with that size a tarântula 😅
Temporary in farming and land management is permanent if it works.
Mais um vídeo espectacular, se vivesse mais perto iria aí ajudar mas vivo longe🙂
Some berms on the low side of the trench by the driveway will further slow the flow of water and help control erosion.
Yet another great video, grape jam , lovely, also very good with a drop of aguadent in😅😊
Good morning Maya, 🎉 wow didn’t it rain, good you dug those drains. Tony ❤️🇬🇧xx
Maya as long as your overhang on your roof is close to your building, the water WILL RUN close to the building
[6:08] You could also dig a trench in the other side of the path (to be back yard?) behind stone houses right under the higher ground so at least part of the water would already drain earlier and not all would reach the house .. And possibly wipe the path away, as it is just loose soil, plants are what keep soil in place and behind the stone houses there is now not any plants to keep the soil on the path and the water away from the house.
[9: 08] Maybe wait the rain to show you first IF you need it or not... :/ (Remembering the winter time flood, on lower levels..)
[ 10:00] Seeing your cement and lime enjoying a bath next in there.. :=( Please have shelving or work tables there to lift the stuff off the floor before in coming rain..
amazing what you accomplish girl!
Stay safe and dry
you need to watch Seans world he has the same type off buildings as you and was working on the back drainage only a few shows back hes done a great job. but i think you need spouting under roofing
You need a big harvest basket!
Hi Maya, I’ve been enjoying watching your videos. Just thought I’d say about the flag you removed. Just be careful that that during storms that gravel doesn’t wash down and redirect the water where the flag would have been. Although not pretty it might be a pretty handy backup. But you know your land best 👍
Wow! Such a transformation from the weather when we did the roof! Can't believe how high the river got!
So glad the driveway trench did such a good job.
Take care x
Es gibt mini Wasserkraftwerke. Vllt wäre das ein Mittel der Stromerzeugung im Herbst Winter ?!
Well done! Super video💥👌🏾🙏🏾
Wow, that was a _lot_ of rain! Did it cause any damage? I could see that your improvised drainage pipes managed to catch a lot of water, but did they keep all of it away from your wall? Did your land suffer any erosion? What did the property look like when the rain was over? Also, on a completely unrelated note, it looks as if your water wheel could be a serious source of power in the autumn and winter months. Well beyond powering the fairy lights you're showing in your next video! Have you tried loading your batteries with it or something like this?
you're so strong and ingenious! And I love your positive attitude and your fun spirit! Its always fun to watch you!
Sehr großartig Maya, ein schönes inspirierendes Projekt. Wie ist der Plan für den Winter?
Maya you need to place a covert on your driveway a covert is a piping that you're gonna dig deep before but it won't wash away anymore and you'll be able to drive Uber it otherwise right now the way you have it if people drive Uber it or rock's volley ant or way too much water it'll just flood it all in with dirt and the water won't necessarily go in that direction so check and look for someone to put a covert in for you
Olá Maya bom dia! Daqui do Nordeste do Brasil..Teresina no estado do Piauí.
Ei só uma dica: Cimento novo se guarda sempre encima de uma madeira ou tijolos..no chão vai endurecer vou pedras.
The reason the water runs along your building has to do with the Roof drip edge, runoff when it rains, if your roof extended out past the building, it wouldn't run straight down along the building
