I absolutely hate this game. Ironically we have made this game look better by editing down 14 hours of gameplay into highlights. The 12 hours that were removed contain nothing of note or consequence to the story, and mostly consist of fetch quests where you walk back and forward to help a Pokemon. There is no meaningful reward for any of this.
Please do not buy this game, even for kids it's not worth it. It is genuinely embarassing for the most profitable media franchise on Earth to release a game of this poor quality. I would rather play Minecraft Story Mode again than this
Reminder that the reason for the long development because of the “switching platforms” is *youtube* because they made the game in unity, not a custom game engine.

Except I remember the FIRST game being equally insulting. I still remember a scene from it where you see the culprit's hand and dark skin color. There's only one black person in the whole building. You still have to play out the entire "mystery" for like another hour. This series is for toddlers.
It's too bad Dan missed the part where Pikachu plants drugs and a gun on an innocent dead person and coerces Tim into lying to the commissioner about it.

I think the most astounding thing about this game is that it makes Deoxys and Mewtwo look lame
It’s the lack of mouth movements on Mewtwo, and his eyes being flat in his skull. Deoxys should’ve changed forms, otherwise he’s animated decently. Although they probably wouldn’t have been able to figure out how to transition from one model to the other for Deoxys’ forms

My comment isn't showing up so I can't edit it, but apparently the Detective Pikachu GAME came first and then a movie was based around that concept?? Kind of wild, but that would also explain why this came out 4 years after the movie. The movie was a game tie in technically, not the other way around.

Here's what annoys me - so apparently Sophie knew all along that Detective Pikachu could talk, yet not only does this go absolutely nowhere, but we never get an explanation for why she brought it up sooner. Heck, Detective Pikachu ponders the latter, but there is no follow-up on this.
the game feels like theres a missing 4 chapters or so between 4 and 5
Even stupider is tha the supposed reason that's been proposed as to why is a familial bond between kids and parent, but that would mean his own wife, who doesn't register Pikachu talking, didn't have a strong enough bond with her own husband to hear detective Pikachu talk
@@hadesciphernius5244The game never provides a real conclusion to the divorce plot line, so the obvious explanation here is that Harry just hates his wife.
The end bit where Tim tells his sister she gets bored too quickly to be a detective is so funny because it's basically the devs saying "you didn't like this game because it was boring and repetitive? You just aren't cut out to be a detective that's all."

@@khalifahallah713 Eiscue? It was Gen 8
Normally I'd handwave it and say they're just going off anime logic, BUT THEY LITERALLY USED IN-GAME LOGIC FOR THE ENTIRE GAME UP UNTIL THAT LAST PART
I'll never understand the argument for games like this being bad as "Oh well it's a children's game". That's very insulting to children, who are a lot more discerning and intelligent than we give them credit for. Just because you have a "funny" talking Pikachu on screen doesn't mean they will enjoy the game. and the fact this game is so slow-paced and doesn't provide you anything only adds to the insults.
Counter argument: Skibidi toilet.
I think part of what makes the game boring is that there is 0 challenge and 0 chance to fail even at the end. The game doesn’t penalise you for getting the solution wrong like phoenix wright nor does it let you work everything out for yourself like return of the obra dinn, even the quick time events are often impossible to fail. This makes the game boring because if there is no threat and no chance of failure then essentially the gameplay is little more than an intractable cutscene to the player.
...Kinda like what GameFreak's been doing with taking away the little thinking and difficulty required to beat the main series Pokemon games, huh? I guess this is a trend with the whole Pokemon franchise now!
This genuinely sounds like it was written by an AI, like it was made during the writers strike and they pushed it through anyway
It was made right after the 3ds game and then delayed for some reason. Notice how there aren’t any Paldean Pokémon?
Considering it was probably written years ago (based on there being no gen 9 pokemon) it's likely just a first draft that they didn't bother rewriting or improving on

It really feels like it should have been more like Ace Attorney. what really gets me is how godawful the shaders are, it almost looks like they didnt use them at all in most places
