The cut control is exactly what it says, a 6 dB treble cut control, placed after the phase inverter. It works like a tone control on a guitar, a treble bypass control.
I really wish Vox would put out an AC30 where the two channels were actually useable to switch between. What I mean by that is that the top boost and normal channel should both have their own master volume and gain controls and ditch the two inputs for a much more practical channel switch that is foot-switchable. Make that change and keep the FX loop to drag Vox into the 21st century finally. I say this as a die-hard fanboy that uses Vox despite their obnoxious idiosyncracies.
Haha same comment as you put on the Rob Chapman channel about the green back vs blue back speakers. I still agree with you though. Why not just make it a switchable 2 or 3 channel with a footswitch that does channel and fx.
🔵 new to amping and i'm totally turned on by vox - so just got myself the ac30s1 cause i wanted tube but rather simple plug 'n play and a bit less expensive ❕💙
@@jameskavanagh4300 Yeah i was about to say the same.. But i think i know what he meant, it just came out bad. Blue has way cleaner and crispier sound, more classic, whatever that means today.. But if we take to low range on the blue, it has a varmer sound to it in my mind. The green has a warmer mid and high range.
I'm sorry, but I just like the more midrange of the Greenbacks (also, the tighter lows and more bite to the highs). It just cuts through the mix better ... so I put them back in and sold the Blues.
Hello! please extend the comparison between greenbacks and blue bulldogs. As far as I see, it's about personal taste, both are great quality. But still, I can't understand why all the fuzz about the bulldogs, being way more expensive. Thanks.
what is there really to extend? The Green is a more all around kind of sound in my mind. It has a varmer mid and high range, a little less crunchy and present on the top. The blue is more classic, very crisp and varmer low range sound. I would like both of em thank you.. one can dream..
Hi guys, got one Vox AC30 and when trying in the boost channel has a very constant sound, like interference.. the seller told me to warm it up for 10 min in standby before use it and should disappear the sound. this happened to some of you?
and in true Cranbourne style; instead of setting up to 2 mikes on each amp, and a A/B pedal to switch - he actually throws the mic to the other amp. (or was it just for show? you never know in Cranbourne)....
It adds the other half of the 1st 12AX7 which hits the power section a little harder and makes for a fuller driven tone. It's not necessary, just a matter of taste.
Its standard for these amps. I used my buddies 76 Marshall Lead II for years and would "bridge" the inputs ( the term these guys failed to mention) which was standard stuff, especially to really get the OD section hot n juicey
What a marvel. You made the top boost sound almost exactly like the normal channel. Good job defeating the very point of the amp. Difficult to mess this one up, but you managed it.
Hey Man, how did you go with the amp? Are you still using it. I have the AC30 C2X - best amp i've ever used, also did take me a while to truly get it to shine via setting adjustments.
@@patrickgeraghty3207 Hi .yes still using the amp..Been a Beatle nut i am trying to get the 60s sound ..so playing through a compression pedal to tighten it up a bit ..with my Epiphone Casino .the longer you use the amp.it seems to sound better ..or is that just me ..it seems to sing .!!if you have any good settings let me know ...Kev ..
I've had all three, and the current-production AC30C2X is my favorite amp of all the amps I've ever owned. This video does a great job of demonstrating it's clean/low-gain tones. It's TB channel is nearly identical in tone to the AC30/6 TBX, has incredible global trem and verb, and I prefer the way they voiced the normal channel. The AC30CC2 was a wrong turn imho. It was good on paper, but comparatively harsh in practice.
He doesnt tell you much so you go into the shop so he can sell u the amp and next door there is a massage asian parlour where u go up a flight of stair and ask for honey or apple.. then get some tatts and those way kool ear plugs...aye all in a day in cranbourne... good to spend the pay on some geetar sheet and then get in the falcor and get some vb stubbies ... bloody top weekend mate... then sell it on ebay a few months later when you realise you cant.play for shit
I know this is an unnecessary question, but why do some people insist on deforming their ears by embedding large metal loops inside their ears? Oh yeah, nice demonstration
Charles Seper So true man! Dufus ears indeed. These other fuckwits who commented probably have deformewd ears too. It's so ridiculous and I'm glad you came here. I thought I was the only one who thought it was strange. They're just trying to be... hmm... cool.
So for this "comparison" video you waited 5 minutes to say which amp you were playing through. We got a distortion comparison with the mic randomly placed, and when you played clean you didn't say which amp it was. You then you didn't play clean through the other (hence no actual comparison element). If you had entitled the video "f***ing around with Vox amps" that would have been a better more accurate representation of what happened here.
Great demos! I’m sold on the blues.

One of the Worlds greatest Amps..Well done!
Yeah! made in China...
telecaster and ac30 are the perfect combo
Agreed
What a GREAT sound in the opening part!!! Nice demo
A cranked AC30 is my favourite tone
I definitely prefer the one with the alnico blue 😁

right? amazing that it's 2019 and this isn't even an option. We can dream, right?
I use an A-B-Y switch so I can switch between channels, or have both
Both my normal and top boost channels don't have much volume difference. But, yeah, that could a good idea and not so difficult to do.
Haha same comment as you put on the Rob Chapman channel about the green back vs blue back speakers.

The Greens are brighter than the blues? That just sounds wrong. I've owned both. The blues are anything but dark!
I nearly dropped my coffee when he said that, its obvious he doesn't know which amp he is listening to, amateur hour review I'm afraid

Wayne Kiladitis you should wait the blue ones to break in. Big mistake in my opinion. I own both (uk versions)

5.25, that third chord was so Brian May it was untrue!
That's an A chord, barred instead of fretted
03:54 and you still haven't told the viewers whether you are playing through the c2 or the C2x. Any freakin danger?

Hey.
Why do you connect the NORMAL input with the TOP BOOST input?

Any demos of this amp with humbucker?
Just got one for £350 ,, AC30 C2 . ..just have to work the settings out ...

geetar kev How so geetar kev?
mrbsred1 It's not enough for some people to act stupid; they have to look the part as well. Thus the dufus ears were born.

LiamJConnolly And where the heck did it say this was a comparison? Some people lack comprehension skills 🙄
Lol he obviously change the name, some people lack logic 🙄
just all around frustrating
Made in China....Khm. No Go. Rather pay twice for EU produced amp. Sorry VOX.
Ya...I don't much care for Made in China junk.
Vox shit ampli and bad sound ... mesa the best !
