  • Overall a pleasant, fuel-efficient, safe, well-built car, but it's showing its age in terms of design inside & out and the interior materials leave a lot to be desired.

    This is the best looking Jetta they’ve ever made

    The Mk6 Jettas remind me a lot of the Mk4s. They have the same long, straight lines in the styling and the interior design is pretty similar too. I got a 1.8T from Enterprise over the summer and really liked it!

      I think they are the best value in the market right now. how can you argue for the price and what you get. a base model has everything you need for the most part. I was shocked when I looked at them. I restore old ones and hated them for many years but the diesel got me back to them. But the new jetta is shocking and a great value almost diesel MPG. engine compartment roomy enough to get it serviced and repaired just all around well designed. But i am still waiting for the engineering flaws. They always have them some things never change. but I think if I was buying a new car I would highly consider a jetta.

    What are you talking about the interior is fantastic

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 7 лет назад +4

      The lower end Jettas do feel rental grade; even Chevy learned that and the 2017 Cruze has significantly more padding & soft-touch panels whereas the VW still has hard plastics galore. The SEL & GLI models do have a nicer center stack & accents to break up the black-on-black hard plastics of the SE.

      I agree with you, I'm considering buying a jetta I was shown the Base model and it was nice, but it had little details, like hard plastic on the handles and parts of the console. I have a 2004 legacy and apart from the lower end of the cabin, it's all padded. The Jetta had fabric on the upper part of the doors, but still felt a bit cheap compared with the Legacy. Having said that, I really liked the interior space, even better than the mazda 6,which I also considered buying

    Test drive a Jetta in the SEL with the 1.8T engine. Chose this level over the norms of Civic, Corolla, 3, and Focus. The solid feel of this car, the way it drove and felt was what won us over. We also like the clean lines and clean interior.

    Funny...my GTI was in for an intake manifold a little over a week ago. I got lucky and got a Golf SportWagen TDI SEL as a loaner :) Having owned an MK6 Jetta in the past, the points you hit struck home...it's in desperate need of a complete redesign

    I didn't know people complained about the hard plastic on the interior... seems like a very minor thing to complain about... "its not soft to the touch" ... like wtf your literally never going to be touching it who cares

    Imho this car is excellent.handsome design; unlike the design messes that are available today.excellent engine and good fuel economy.very good comfortable and secure ride.I cannot understand why anyone would want anything more .Sporty and flashy ,no ;elegant and confident I think so.If you want a proper sports car buy a real one (ferrari,lamborghini etc.) if you can afford one if not stop talking nonsense.

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  6 лет назад

      NELSON LOPEZ If you lived with a 2006-2010 Jetta for seven years like me, you'd feel very short-changed with the interior quality. If not, then most people probably won't care which is why it sells.

    Great review of the Jetta. I bought a Jetta back in 2005 with the 1.8T engine. It was a zippy, fun-to-drive car. I wouldn't purchase a new one, buy I enjoyed this review!

      Ty Smith The previous-gen was much nicer feeling and the Golf is also much nicer feeling since it's on the MKVII platform. The next-gen Jetta is due out soon and will be a huge improvement when it finally makes the switch to the MQB platform.

    @mercmilan06 The issue mentioned by you such as Carbon cleanup, intake manifold, Gasket issue, at how many miles you faced this issue? Do you think 2017 Passat or 2017 Jetta may face this same issue? Has the reliability of VW increased in 2017? Will you suggest VW to anyone?

  • @cmoney6175

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +2

      Cameron Fahking Rogers It's probably my second favorite car in its class behind the Volkswagen GTI. I'd take the GTI for the more refined styling both inside & out and also overall build quality and driving refinement. I just don't think I have it in me to buy a Ford with actual real money again for a while after my previous experiences.

      szaki Only had the car for a day, but based on experience with a 2018 Golf that has an even larger engine and a similar 6spd auto and size, you should easily be able to get that kind of mileage on the highway.

    I seriously don't mind the hard plastic of the trim. Heck my mk6 gti has not smart key, no auto headlights, sunroof nor reverse camera. I think the jetta looks simple and gorgeous, however the cheap looking climate control buttons are a real turn off.

    God these Jettas are ancient now! Basically nobody buys them here in the UK as small saloons aren't popular (Although there are quite a few A3 saloons about) and the Golf is ahead of it in basically every aspect. We love our hatches!

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +1

      Very ancient! The MKVII Golf is a vast improvement over this thing!

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 7 лет назад

      @mercmilan06 The difference is that in Europe Jetta has much more soft platics inside in all trims, much more engine options etc. US Jetta was dumbed down for the US market to keep the price below $20k.
      On the other hand Japanese cars are pretty expensive here, Honda just reeased pricing for the new Civic hatchback (they released the sedan about a year ago in the US) and it's crazy. Base Civic with 1.0 turbo engine costs pretty much as much as VW Golf in the mid trim but - it has neither AC nor stereo! Base version of 1.5T engine (with the AC and radio) costs as much as some entry midsize sedans like Peugeot 508 or Ford Mondeo (Fusion) with 1.5-1.6 turbo engines producing 165-180hp.

  • @hondaftw1234
    @hondaftw1234 7 лет назад

    The interior is drab, boring and the materials lag behind pretty much every car in this class. Driving this back to back with the Mazda 3 & Civic was enough to tell me the MK7 Jetta should have been here already. $23,000 buys an EX-T Civic these days. If it weren't for the discounts these Jettas offered I don't know if anyone would buy them. Golf is night and day.

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +1

      ER B I completely agree. I would take a base Golf over a loaded Jetta any day.

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  6 лет назад

      That. Guy.From.Marz It's not all shit, but it is very outdated and a big contrast from the quality of the Golf. Lots of people think the Jetta is just a Golf with a trunk, it's not in this generation.
