    Need to experience this car with the 1.4 LT turbo charged engine with manual transmission. Only true way to appreciate a car like this.

      True story- I love my 1.4T 5M! The car has great acceleration and is superbly efficient. Best MPG so far was 49.5.

    I’ve driven this engine the 1.4, new to the US I believe in Germany in and ate too. It’s not too bad pretty busy at high rpm but pretty zippy mostly. Gas mileage is really good though 38 miles a gallon that’s pretty damn good.

    How fast is this car? Is it really slow or can it get up to speed relatively quick? Is it a big difference from the 1.8T?

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +3

      Brandon64234 once the turbo is spoiled up, it has plenty of torque at 184lb/ft, I wouldn't call it deal breaking slow, but the 1.8T is noticeably faster

      Clayline Reviews does it really make a big difference?

    My friend he just got a 2018 Jetta SE with the 1.4 turbo and his is the 5 speed manual transmission. He went to look at the new Jetta but he did not like it. So he ended up getting a 2018 Jetta.

    You need to drive this thing when warmed up. Huge difference.

    How does this handle in the snow? I just bought the same model and am debating if I should get snow tires.

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +2

      Nathaniel Lindberg It handles well and it was on snow tires in the video. I would always recommend getting snow tires if your winters are regularly below 40°F.

      Always get snow tires, they really make a difference. Not AWD, not all season tires (which are junk) - a set of proper winter tires.

    4:12 that kickdown lag is what almost made someone rear end me one day. I literally floored it and the RPM's rise, but there's like 2 seconds before the speed actually starts increasing (watch the speedo). wonder why it's like that?

    excellent Jetta!!!

    just bought my 2017 jetta s 6 speed automatic used for 13000.
    That kickdown lag is the only real thing I can complain about. But overall it feels better to drive out of my last 3 cars, which were all 6 cylinder vehicles.
    Believe it or not I knew how to drive my previous car, a 2007 3.5l 6 cylinder pontiac g6 on the high way and get 41MPG! Too bad the car proved to be unreliable.

    I had the same model as a loaner. I totally agree with you, ride is very pleasant but the interior quality is not very "VW" like.

    Whats better this Jetta or a Mazda 3?

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад +2

      Neil Joseph I haven't driven the new Mazda3, but I think I'm right in saying it's the better of the two cars. The design is much newer, leading to a much nicer interior and it handles better. However, lots of space and the torque from a turbocharged engine still give the Jetta a lot of appeal and you can get pretty good deals on them.

      Neil Joseph I have the same choice to make and it's clear. The Jetta is pretty damn good, it really exceeded my expectations especially after taking it on the road

      I say the Jetta, Masada 3 has the screen sitting on the dash like it is a afterthought

    What you said about its torque is wrong. This this reaches peak torque at 1400 believe it or not

      Surrizzle I know, but it sure doesn't feel like it driving it in real life.

      mercmilan06 oh that's a shame

    • @EricAtMazda
      @EricAtMazda  7 лет назад

      Surrizzle It's okay once you're moving and you can easily spin the tires in first gear, but something about it just felt a little more sluggish than the 184lb/ft suggests.
