This series really has the potential to become a landmark resource for composers. Not only do you have extensive knowledge of the subject matter, and explain and demonstrate it well, but you also cover lots of more subtle points (e.g. the fact that a given fingering can, depending on various factors, produce different groups of notes, or that certain multiphonics work better at certain dynamics), and offer many well-considered suggestions. I look forward to future installments.
Thanks for your comment, I do hope so! I have been meaning to do this for a long time, as I work with a lot of composers, and I end up explaining the same things - some hopefully it will be helpful and save me time! 6 more episodes to come!
Exactly what im looking for! Thanks for your effort and Im looking forward to the different sax videos. The level of your voice compared to the sax seems a bit low, so that either the sax is too loud when played back or I sometimes cant understand what you're saying.
@@JoshuaHyde no worries! sounds like a big task, but a wonderful contribution that many grateful composers will benefit from whenever you get the chance. Thanks for all the other videos. Really clear and will done. Many of the concepts and sounds you cover are so difficult to understand without hearing or seeing, so this is an invaluable resource.

Thank you so much for this playlist, Joshua! It's incredibly helpful. Saxophone is such and incredible instrument *__*
I'm glad it's helpful!

Thanks so much! Are you going to do the different saxophone videos?
Greetings from Berlin :)
This is so helpful. Thank you!
did you ever end up making the videos demonstrating each multi-phonic in isolation? this would be really helpful!
Hi Robert, I havent yet managed. I need to get working on it. Hopefully soon!

Thank you Joshua! Could you recommend a font for writing saxophone multiphonics on Sibelius?
I think there are some fingering notation plugins, but I'm not sure exactly. Or you can insert images directly maybe?
Hi Joshua! What kind of equipment do you use for recording these videos (hardware nadd software)?
Cheers
Just a pair of small diaphragm condensors, nothing fancy!
Could please write down the name of the book (and author..) that has the best fingering charts for multiphonics?
The techniques of saxophone playing, Marcus Weiss & Giorgio Netti
Les sons multiples, Daniel Kientzy
@@JoshuaHyde thank you!
multiphonics is awful. I have yet not heard any multiphonic that are more lyrical than disturbing...
Great! Good job :-)
@@JoshuaHyde do you agree or do you have any lyrical example if multiphonics?
