Take note people, the led is being powered form a 6V supply, and will most certainly blow up. Add a 100 ohm resistor in between if you do this.
It looks like he has put a resistor in the shrink tube, but why he didn't say anything about that?

This is an old magic show trick that has been around for years using an ordinary miniature flashlight bulb. I used to do maintenance in a cabaret nightclub and carried one of these through darkened club “switched on” before replacing lamp in light fitting while customers were there. (changing lamp for real one in last few seconds). Better than floor show and management did not mind as customers were amazed after few drinks…

What a bright idea. What's even more fun is to wire an electrolytic capacitor into bulb base, re-assemble bulb, and screw it into a switched socket that's definitely turned off. When power is applied, light bulb explodes. What a blast!

you can use any color for the LED. for the contact, anything that lets current through would work, if you want to amaze people, you should use something that isn´t completely obvious.

Me too. From what I can tell including the L seems to be a British thing much like how they pronounce the H in herb, while we say erb. Wikipedia lists the silent L version as being the US pronunciation.

If you look at the etymology, the term comes from the 14th C English word sawd which in term comes from old French soldure from Latin solidare. The British may have started pronouncing the L under the influence of the French or Latin, whereas the Americans may have kept the 14th C pronunciation; I wouldn't be surprised if that pronunciation was still around in some British dialects in the 17th C.

@FeudalMoon All the white (or blue) LED's I have ever ran across that are the size of the one he uses in this video are around 3.5 volts. 6 volts might not kill a white LED instantly, but it will slowly get dimmer until its just so dim its useless. In the example in this video, using one battery or adding a resistor would fix this problem. Just make very sure of what voltage your LED is and if you need a resistor before you try this.
