Plus some things like more polished designs for the characters in the very beginning, which can be both a blessing and a curse.

That Kenpachi was truly a monster! Not only did he effortlessly destroy a meteor that would’ve wiped out the Seireitei but he did it with a Shikai! Not even a Bankai! AND he kept his eyepatch on the whole time, which SEALS his true power! I can’t even imagine what he would be capable of if he had a Bankai. 😧
The build up to seeing Kenpachi awaken Shikai was massive. This moment had been building up for anime only fans for years, then this episode comes out, and it was just perfect. He was already him when he became Captain with Bankai. This further solidified it.

It reflects all of his pain and anger against the world, whom he believed unworthy of existence, and Asta slashed through it not to discredit his feelings but rather to demonstrate that his method of bringing about change is flawed.

I'm so glad they decided to animate the TYBW arc, so glad it's high quality stuff and actually happy I didn't spoil the anime by reading the manga beforehand, as I feel like going in blind with these visuals and some improvements, like Squad 0's fight, does enhance the experience.

The scariest part it doesn’t just show his change from a death craving lunatic to a true soul reaper, it shows that this is merely the beginning of his new journey. Cutting that meteor wasn’t his greatest achievement. In his eyes it was his first step towards becoming a true monster. In other words… everything he has done up to now was his bare fucking minimum.
