Like the doctors, you've willfully ignored the part where they found the boy FLOATING a foot off the gurney and they looked under the blanket for what was supporting him. Terrifying experience? Kid: "Mom I can't breath"
Mom: "Its ok, just breath"
Yeah...I kinda wanted to slap some sense into her, too.
The first time was somewhat understandable because if the child was having a panic attack, it would feel like you can't breathe but you actually can. But when the kid said it again and their lips started turning blue? That was an obvious sign that the child couldn't breathe at all.

Um yeah, I'm of Hmong/Miaozu(like the characters in this episode) descent, and the portrayal of how we heal the ill is nothing like this. We don't leave a chopped up animal carcass in someone's room nor do we bloody up the walls and hang ceremonial paper money(those aren't even what ours looks like) on string across the room like that, that room was just straight up out of a horror film. If I could post pictures on here I would show you what it would look like for someone who was ill to that degree, it's ain't anything like what was in this episode.
The actors obviously aren't Hmong people, because the mom and son don't look East Asian at all, but the Grandfather is passable(he's Chinese), plus he said "Hmoob" very well, whereas the son was able to sound out "Khiav mus, tam sim no(Run away, right this instance /Get away, right now)" and than the rest was unintelligible and complete gibberish because the actor's not a native speaker.
Another thing, Hmong people don't perform exorcisms, that's not what our Txiv Neeb(Shaman's) purpose is.

Only thing I learned from this video is you can’t cure a nut job
I think everyone is misunderstanding what the scene is of the grandpa choking the child. So, in the culture we believe that the bad spirit can come as themselves or as someone else in your life. In this case, the show is depicting the spirit who first came as an old unruly woman is now coming back as his grandfather since his grandpa is going to exorcise it and it is sensing danger. Therefore, it chose to come back as the grandpa so its vessel aka the boy would be afraid of his grandpa so the exorcism wouldn’t be possible for them if the boy refuses to see the grandpa. So, the grandpa never actually touched the grandson at all that’s why you can see that the boy was woken up by the doctor and his mother. Also, we believe that if you get attacked by spirits in the day the spirit is stronger than the ones that come out at night. As my mom always says during the day the humans come out to eat but during the night the monsters come out to eat. Her way of telling me to be careful at night.
