- Greetings friends, if you've been watching the channel you'll know I've been playing Reforged for almost a year now since the ladder was released in August 2022, so here's my honest opinion / breakdown of the game in it's current state!

Hello hello! I am InsaneMonster, the author of the mod you are talking about in the video (Re-Reforged). There are many aspects of what you covered in the video that are not completely right. For instance, the vanilla reforged campaigns do add some stuff but it's true it's much less (by several order of magnitude) of what was promised and advertised. The graphics are not bad at all, so long the map is designed for them, but they might be a disadvantage in competitive play (but only at very high level). It's true that the art was outsourced, but the same was true for Starcraft Remastered which was a success. The models of Lemons Sky are very good, but it's evident that, as the whole product, their scope was changed later on in production. The map editor had several improvements and the game, while not as stable as classic, is in a pretty good shape and not too badly optimized (I work with it basically every day and I often push the game to its technical limits with my campaigns). Melee scene is active and game is quite alive, and there is a huge modding community over at HiveWorkshop, some of which specialize in high quality HD assets and fixing some broken models from the game (models lacking animations, etc, the unfinished unpolished stuff I mentioned earlier). For what concerns the EULA, it's a pretty standard EULA like SC2 one, so the outrage there is completely unjustified. It would be cool for once if some streamer/youtube would try to fully document itself by speaking with the community which work and plays each day this game. I don't agree the StarCraft remastered graphics are good. They are not as bad as W3 Reforged but they are worse than the original. People just tend to like higher number of pixels. But the art direction is broken, the amount of detail distribution is broken etc.
this game has filled my childhood with a sense of fun that no game today can make me feel.
I spent hours playing this game, until my father limited my time to playing this game for weekends only.
until now I still keep it just to remind me of the good times

stopped playing wc3 classic like over 10 years ago, marked my childhood, now i really wanted to experience it again in a fresher look, but unfortunately reforged is not getting any better
Yeah it's really been neglected by Blizzard.
I keep rehashing all the good times I had playing Reign of Chaos back in the day and I want to try it out again. After reading the reviews...I'm a little dismayed and I really hope that Blizzard will try to fix Warcraft 3 Reforged someday.

I wish they'd make a Warcraft 4. Make Gnomes, Dwarves, NE's and Humans. Orcs, Tauren, UD, Trolls. All playable races. Have a couple of different game modes. One that's more combat focused and another that's more city building / resource focused.
I don't understand why they wouldn't, surely it would sell well.

@@WoofyMcDoodle Those wouldn't be the races added, but they should have just made another expansion! Everything they changed they made worse.
I consider a game bad when you can't proceed in campaign mode without it crashing every 2 minutes. I can't remember which mission it was, but it has left a sour taste in my mouth. WC3 was one of the most stable of games, so to see it turn into this was not nice. I hope they can resolve this.

@@brotherhoodofstrategy it seems the campaign has some bugs. But custom and multiplayer games are fine at the moment.
@@brotherhoodofstrategy Tried it again just now, it still crashes. The mission in particular is The Fall of Silvermoon.
@@falkerhardfor that mission I managed to complete it by studying the moment it crashes, I made a save and completed it like this, but it closes completely for me when I start the "wrath of the traitor" mission I'm stuck there and it bothers me a lot like what
You're referring to Chapter 4 - Wrath of the Betrayer in the Sentinels Campaign in Frozen Throne.
Still crashes after 3 years.. HUD sometimes vanishes so you can't see the structure building indicator or the health bars.
Some cutscenes won't continue, so you have to skip them
Lip syncing most of the time stops working on Character Portraits.
My Warcraft 3 on PC-CD never did any of this.. Never had crashes either.
I was thinking about buying it because of the 50% sale, but your video made me decade to wait and hopefully one day the day it will be good again..
At 50% off I think it might be ok to buy.
@@brotherhoodofstrategySure, but that's still just "OK" at a whole 50% off. Sounds like 50% off should be the new price and then it should go on sale even further. I'm struggling with buying it too and at this point the main thing holding me back is the morals of what Blizzard and companies think they can get away with. Regardless if it's semi worth it at it's sale price, do they deserve a dime of our hard working dollars? Will they ever learn their lesson if people keep paying them for shit?
I bought it 2 weeks ago at 50% discount and I feel it totally worth it. I only did campaign but i had no bugs and it was really enjoyable..no regrets

Would assume they have a single part time project manager on it and a small budget based on sales for maintenance and updates, and that one guy does his best within the budget.
I guess there’s got to be someone but it’s absolutely skeleton crew minimal!

I recently just finished Starcraft 2 and found it to be one of the best games I have ever played and loved the writing and characters so much. It got me wishing Warcraft 3 reforged was in a better state. I don't care much about online, I just want to know if the campaign is good. Is it? Does it crash? Or is it worse than the original? I know Warcraft 3 was considered one of the best games ever, especially in the genre due to the writing, characters, and story.
If you play in english and with the classic graphics, it is basically the same game. If you play on Reforged graphics some campaign missions are even made to be slightly more lore friendly, like Culling of Stratholme or Siege of Silvermoon. So if you are only for the story then the game is okay. I played it some on the newest patch and, compared to the messy state at release, its stable.
BUT, and it is a very smelly butt, if play on ANYTHING ELSE then english, it is a disgrace to the awesome foreign dubs, like polish or russian. Or if you play on czech version then no dubbing for you (even if OG Warcraft 3 did have czech dubbing). Like some new translations, which are now straight out translating english without any care if does sound right, are so damn bad.
@@BaranZenon I have been playing through the campaigns, on the blood elf campaign currently and have been loving every second. I love the graphics. It’s crashed a couple times in the frozen throne campaigns but it’s been worth every dollar so far.

@@brotherhoodofstrategy no clue what that is. I’m on the last campaign, the bonus one. I don’t think I’ll stick around much after it’s done, the pathing of units is annoying sometimes but I’ve loved this game and the writing so much.
I’ve played WoW for close to 20 years and it makes me wish so badly vanilla WoW had better gameplay.

i know you cant advertise for this type of thing but in my honest opinion this game is not even worth pirating. if you must play wc3, sail the high seas and find the buried and forgotten treasure that original wc3 is.
if you feel bad for pirating, just remember that Blizzard tried to completely replace the original wc3 with this monstrosity now known only as wc3 Refunded.
That entire company has been infected, it must be purged.
I think my advice stands, wait for the sale. But it does really suck the classic game isn't easily accessible at this point.
I am so glad that I had the foresight to save the original game files on a USB flashdrive. Amazingly I can just extract them and play.
It was on sale for 4th of July. They had it for $15 or $20 USD
About time, but the game is still in a shit state.

The old graphics were way better. Units and icons are much easier to identify in the old one than the new one. The new one had really weird icons and sometimes you can't even tell what unit you are clicking.
While I agree with you, I find the old graphics so dated, it's hard to enjoy the game fully.

I wonder if I can play the old fan campaigns in this. Really intrigued by Rise of the Blood Elves for example.

STILL having the total crash issues in the main campaign.
You CAN NOT finish the story and have not been able to for a long time now.
Unless of course you use the skip mission cheat.
For me it's the first mission in the Human campaign in the Frozen Throne missions.
Of course I get it in other missions too.

I wanted to get on warcraft just for the multiplayer competitive RTS (don't care about single player, custom games etc...). is it good? is there an active online community? can I find games easily at any rank? Is it possible to use mods to get better graphics playing on ranked online?
There is a decent number of players I think playing Solo and RT, the competition is decent, not amazing but decent. I'm not sure what you mean by MODS for better graphics? Watch some of my other warcraft 3 videos to see the graphics I use.
@@brotherhoodofstrategy The old graphics seems to outdated to me, and the new one sucks a lot (people that take rank seriously rather use the old graphics)... but for me its unpleasant playing like I`m in 2004...

There is a custom campaign/mod that is very creative and professional featuring fully playable naga and nerubian. Sucks it's not official but honestly it's better than anything blizzard in it's current form would make
An insightful look almost "from outside" - so many people forget that their experiences are limited, and new players may have different concepts altogether! Would you like Re-Reforged models to look like WC3, but with more polygons - the way those assets look that were released for SC2 in 2015?
As for me, I played WC3 in 2002 when I was for all intents and purposes a toddler, then completed the campaign in 2012 on a laptop, then watched eSports on and off, and finally in 2023 am getting in proper 1v1... trying out Undead because micro feels amazing (and the Bnet playerbase is surprisingly silver-tier, unlike BW which is a brick wall to get into).
I will correct you, however, that at 17:00 you're spreading fake news - IIRC, Blizzard had always claimed ownership over the custom maps. The EULA change is as fake as claiming that "Blizzard shut down Nostalrius" - it's fine to blame them, but for the right things.
But yeah, all the animu custom maps are in place, nobody is taking them away. I want to play Lordaeron: The Aftermath, too, if it doesn't crash too much.

The fact Blizzard wont just give us a clean start Warcraft game after the TWENTY FLIPPING YEARS of feedback their customer base has given them. The Warcraft players ARE the Diablo, Starcraft and WoW players, and there is not one person that played the Frozen Throne and didn't want that to grow into this era alongside Diablo. World of Warcraft made Blizzard decide for all time that the Warcraft franchise is a dead duck unworthy of their time or attention. Absolutely moronic company. Literally bothered to hear the input, and rather than capitalize on the demand, they give lip service and this pile of shyte.
Blizzard have been so far out of touch with fans for years, it's so disappointing as you say. I'd argue even as far back as 2010~ with Starcraft 2 they stopped listening.

Yeah they did, unfortunately minimal effort was put in to this remaster to support custom games.
I 100% agree Warcraft 3 was the best RTS ever made maybe aside from Total Annihilation.

Warcraft 1+2 are on sale at GOG, and so is Warcraft 3 Reforged. I have Starcraft 1+2, Diablo 1+2, and was thinking of completing my Blizzard RTS collection with the original Warcrafts.

You can indeed swap between the old and new graphics in the menu.
The campaign is still decent, it was a great campaign in classic, it just wasn't AMPED up like they promised... which is disappointing!

all true and one problem i have is the audio of the campaign on the dialogues scenes, they cut and go to the end and is so frustrating, any fix to that please? :(

It is, some people have been having some issues with the game crashing but it should be able to be completed!

Anyone have a solution for the constant fps stutter (minfreeze every 1.5 seconds)? Lowering the graphics settings has no effect.

@@brotherhoodofstrategy Yep. It seems like once you reach a certain amount of units/objects on the map it begins stuttering and sometimes crashing. Some campaign missions also run like crap because of this.
wc3 is the only game i played for like longer then 17 years constantly. reforged made me delete it. that was 2 years ago. and i aint coming back.

I saw the updated graphics. Its not worth $40.00 I can tell you that now. We shouldnt have to load mods and patches for a AAA game for as long as it has been out. Nov. had a patch nad its running horribly. No. Its not worth the space on one's hard drive. And you were right, the UI to select maps is HORRIBLE
They need to engage with it, quality of life, performance, also their other games. ... Look what happened to WOW and Diablo now

I think I'll answer that question with another question is any game that has been remastered, by another rather than the previous one even worth play in 2023? I can't really answer that as all I play is minecraft these days. If this didn't help, then I got nothing else for you. I mean any "esports" games aren't worth playing for me. I rather stick to my single player experiences.
What I mean is I'd rather be on my own than be with a toxic group who enjoys making my life miserable.

Unfortunately not my friend the original game was absolutely amazing all they really had to do was port it to modern programming, update graphics, and leave it alone everything was fantastic before. Great video btw got me to sub
So is it not worth buying just solely to relive the 2002 campaign with upgraded res and graphics. I have 0 care about any online/battlenet aspect of it.

Not only is it reforged. But if you want to play classic you still have to download 30-40 gb of content when you just wanna use 3-4gb like earlier. Blizzard not updating the reforged is a big fk you to the community because of the refunds.
Reforged has been one of the biggest disasters of all time honestly.
You should try warcraft 3 in starcraft 2. Unfortunately there are only standard maps. But it is amazing.@@brotherhoodofstrategy
Well, the big reason I came by this because this game is %50 off. Its, as of its sale in dec. 2023 is $15.00 I agree, its only worht that.

Thief 1 & 2 have such competent sound designs, no game has matched the quality of what they put out back in the late 90s

All the new models are unbelievably ugly. Warcraft 3 was Stylized and they replaced it with this realistic cartoon and its horrible
