    Surprising lack of plastic. I have one on order and have heard lots of good things. Thanks for the great video.

    I believe the sd40 looks to be the same except you really can dislodge it because you have to on sd40 undo two screws.

      Similar to SD40, has steeples worm gear adjustment, and updated burrs.

      Is the worm gear interchangeable with the SD40?

    Hi, thank you for the video. Would you say the updated burrs produce a noticeable difference in the cup?

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  5 месяцев назад

      Not sure noticeable. Slightly better yes. Thats why we ended up changing to them. Makes a bit less work to pre break the beans. Really a descent grinder for 200

    Any insight on how the value at 169 compares to the timemore 064s Kickstarter price of 330? Essentially double the price for intro flat burrs

      I don’t have a Timemore yet. I see Timemore as a drip coffee grinder. An improved Ode

    My SK40 stopped working after 10 days of using it once a day for espresso. :(

    a variable speed mod would be the best this grinder could get

      hi. would like to hear more about this. how do you mod a grinder?

    • @pachex158

      @@czaratejohn hello, I have not done it yet but Im thinking bout putting a potentiometer so the voltage can be changed, I'm not sure if it would work but i will have to test it someday

    • @czaratejohn
      @czaratejohn 11 месяцев назад

      What are the benefits of having variable speed?

    • @pachex158
      @pachex158 11 месяцев назад

      @@czaratejohn lots of people say that grinding at faster speeds produce more fines, and the taste of the cup becomes more blended, on a slower speed the fines production is lower and the cup taste is more separated, I have not tried that comparison yet but there are some info that may back that theory

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  11 месяцев назад +3

      Changing the voltage will increase current and burn out your motor. 100% not recommended or safe.

    Question about the worm gear. I saw, in passing, a few comments on reddit (r/espresso I think) where people were having an issue with the adjustment collar "walking" or drifting while grinding. Their solution to this was adding a washer to the worm gear. But is it possible they just didn't have it adjusted tight enough?
    Idk, it could have been drifting by a couple of microns for all I know. Or it was simply in their head and was a difference in puck prep. They didn't specify. Just curious, as someone who has taken it apart, if you feel that might be a cause for concern.
    Just curious because this grinder is at the top of my list. Though I was kind of waiting to see a specific review on it.

      Have not heard of this, mine has not walked.

      I can't imagine how a worm hear could drift. This should not be possible. A worm hear can't be turned by turning the mesh gear.

      I apricate the answer as I don't know much about that sort of thing. I hope it helps someone. I only mentioned it because I saw people talking about it in a few reddit threads and was curious. However, I already bought something else.@@krissanderson5004
