As someone who is studying the history of goth culture so I can join the community as always wanted to. I 100% gravitate to the Victorian goth look. You two look amazing.
The community welcomes you with open arms 🦇 Victorian goth is a beautiful style and a very fun one to play with! It can be an expensive style though. Harder to thrift! If you're crafty though or good with a needle and thread it can be very fun to do yourself!

Thank you! She prefers my more toned down looks, which I completely understand. When I do bigger looks she compliments my make up skills, but when I do more stripped back she finds it more attractive.
Funnily enough when I do the bigger looks usually when I start taking it off is when she starts complimenting me more and saying how good I look 😅 can't complain!
I think you both look Stunning!! Lynn that dress, and I suppose anything from the Victorian or Edwardian eras will look Smashing on you!! The lace, the cloak/cape and the makeup really suite you, and without sounding like a git, it's nice to see more of you under the makeup, not that your normal look isn't Fantastic, but I think this really plays to your features! Connor, the Victorian look just screams Gentleman, and I think despite the discomfort of the waistcoat (and by gosh, I know that uncomfortable feeling when you go from "manly" to "Dad bod", a place I don't think you're at just yet) the look really suits you and you definitely have the facial features and mannerisms to complete this aesthetic. Its such a lovely look and a girl in a hood always gives me a Damned Phantasmagoria vibe. In my ongoing search for tight pants that were dressier than jeans I started wearing black horse riding pants. Looked great with pointy boots and I could ride my motorcycle in them. You both look wonderful.
Yesss 100% the vibes! I actually have a pair of breeches too! But they're cropped. Definitely a fantastic idea though, can be so easy to get caught in the habit of always wearing plain black jeans! Thank you so much 🦇

The masculine side of Victorian goth is one of my favourite things ever :) although personally I think it's closer to male fashion from the late 1700s and early 1800s. I wear it a lot, as well as post-punk / trad stuff. However, for me 'Victorian' goth is the more comfy option because I don't have to deal with fishnets or safety pins. Also, I feel the need to wear a binder with band T-shirts, whereas in my 'posh' clothes I can cover up with my waistcoat and the frills on my shirts. I genuinely laze around the house looking dead fancy cos it's so much easier and comfier for me, so hearing that it was more effort cos of so many buttons was funny to me
Also it's interesting how many things are transferable between the styles, like the pike boots , a corset if I'm feeling funky, and 𝘴𝘰 much jewellery. In my head I always associate trad goth with punk over the Victorian influences, but I've realised they're actually closer than I initially thought since I've been donning both

im loving the entire looks. I can see the contour and blush a bit. I've had something similar happen to me when i've applied blush its worse when it looks real good but my phone cam just won't show it. When I came out as Goth I purchased a sleeveless waist coat from amazon, I had prepared for it to not be of great quality but I was totally wrong. it was not only made well, but I found out the buttons all buttoned up instead of it being just an illusion and they were made from a nicer quality when I had to go through one of those detector frames and it set the alarm off. unfortunately it didn't come with pants so i had to convert some regular slacks into waist pants. I'm plotting to get one of those cool Victorian cloaks next because it's getting super chilly here and I've neglected to get something winter friendly and layering can only do so much lol.

I love victorian clothes. If it wouldn’t be so expensive or so much work if you sew it yourself, I would also wear it every day.
It can be quite an expensive style true! It's not as thriftable as the other alt styles for sure. Although Lynn found a gorgeous romantic/Victorian style goth dress in a charity shop months ago for very cheap! So not impossible!

If you like Victorian goth I recommend checking out bands like Malice mizer, Lacroix Despheres & lareine. This is called tambi kei music sub style! They wear historical inspired gothic outfits!

You both look absolutely fabulous, and I Love the styles so much. Victorian is my favorite style of Goth fashion and I wish I could wear it everyday. For a long time I've been just doing what I call grunge goth because I have no place to really go, and usually am in a hurry; but, I'm not happy and I really don't like the way it looks on me. I've been thinking quite a bit lately about, just either getting up earlier, or being late where I want to go so I can look more the way I want. I really loved this video & thank you so much for doing it. Gives me a warm happy feeling just watching you both 💜🦇

You're correct! Deathrock is higher up the list. And one I'm very excited for. But Gothabilly is definitely a consideration! Depends how many episodes we eventually get through! In the past year and a half we've only managed to do 3 😂

Black Butler is what got me into Victorian and dark styles. My bday is also the same as Ciel's except 124 years later. So I love that "Black Butler Cosplay" bit. That and my nan who had like dozens of tea sets. She was born in the middle of the Edwardian era though, but the influences were still there. Oh and her name was Christina-HELENA, which... yeah guess what happened. No surprise there.

I maybe over thinking it, but Conor's outfit looks like it would almost fit in the Victorian Era and Lynn's looks more Modern with hints of Victorian. (I doubt that they would be wearing a slip dress.)
I sort of get what you mean! But at the end of the day the style itself is inspired by victorian rather than period exact. I was also wearing jeans haha not sure they had black skinny jeans in the Victorian period 🤔
