Satan hates you and all your being and God loves you more than you even know, yet everyone in this thread would rather follow satan and reject the Lord Jesus, would you truly rather sin in full rebellion and embrace eternal hell instead of abiding in the love of God and embrace eternal life.
John 6:66-69 (KJV) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mark 8:34-38 (KJV) And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

52 year old here, Goth in my [Cornish] Secondary school was pretty much Cure heads/Sisters of Mercy/Joy Division, availability of the fashions was pretty hard back then, some would get labelled "Top shop Goths" [Getting most of there stuff from High Street shops and just 'wearing it' with not much creativity, where the 'cool kids' Thrifted stuff] and I remember the sharp intakes of air as one Goth girl started wearing Purple a bit too [Velvets, Converse etc] I remember one kid in my year his mum went crazy cos he stretched his school jumper out all Robert Smith-like and another Girl her Mum Boil washed/bleached all her Goth stuff cos she found out she'd been taking Photos in a graveyard

Yeah, more 80s & 90s reactions, please. I grew up in the 80s - it was a weird time. I was a school kid. I really don’t know how I ended up all normal with my own fashion; I listen to blackmetal, European symphonic metal and yeah, other stuff like jazz and classical too. To me it all makes sense but I’m definitely not normal😂✊🤟🏼🪸.

Lynn, I completely agree about hairdressers. I haven't let anyone else touch my hair since probably 1987. . Connor, the facial hair looks good. It kind of reminds me of the Master from the Tom Baker era Doctor Who. I like these explorations of goth history. I live in the USA. Where I grew up at, I was the only goth in the state. What little exposure I had to rest of the goth/punk/alt world was through an American version of a British magazine, I think it would have been called Smash Hits there, and some music documentaries on late night tv. Even so, I can check off most of the boxes on your bingo card. Again, I love you guys. Thank you for being here for me.

There were a lot of vampire moves pre- Interview With a Vampire (1994). The Hunger was a big one, and there were a couple of comedies, including Vamp, with Grace Jones, and Fright Night. The Lost Boys also pre-dates IWaV by seven years.
I didn't have much to do with Goth back then but I remember the very brief New Romantics craze that lasted about the length of a sneeze before merging into Goth in the early eighties. Everybody's hair stood on end like that during the eighties... very scary period because of Thatcher.

Eh vampires,, dark mythology, witches, horror. Like an interest AS A SUBJECT, hobbies or as a style, I think its okay. (The unbelievable thing is that people STILL asume the same things now). As long as youre not kidnapping people CA them and torture people to..."you know" by skinning them alive. I like the Johnny the homicidal maniac comics. Doesnt mean I want to k-word everyone that wears bellbottoms. (thinks to myself for a while). Nah, live and let live, I say. As long as I dont have to wear them.

I have always loved the Trad Goth look. Musically, I listen to a lot of 80s and 90s goth, although i'm trying to get into some more modern bands. In the 90s I dressed more Corporate Goth as it was easier to grab from my wardrobe. I listen to a lot of genres, so I'm glad that the Trad Goths as well as the Random Goth Couple encourage the exploration of multiple genres. That's how we get cross over genres like Gothabilly, etc. Go listen to Zombie Ghost Train, you won't regret it. Just remember, the main message is to do your own thing, embrace the music, pay attention to the art an literature. Fashion should actually be the last aspect of your Gothness, and express your true spirit.

Maybe there's a few that aren't commonly known outside goth circles? Is Nancy from The Craft considered goth or merely taking on gothic aesthetic? Or pop culture icons that maybe misconstued as goth. I can tell you a couple of things that had a really big influence on what became Goth culture in the early 1980s. First of all was late night weekend TV from about 1978-1984. This was kind of like the graveyard shift in TV programming schedules and both BBC and ITV really went to town on it. They basically got hold of all the B-movie horror flicks from the 1960s, all the long out of circulation classic Hollywood monster movies (Frankenstein etc), Sci-fi bug and alien movies from the 1950s, The Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, Mad scientist movies, Hammer horror etc, and just showed them all back to back for 4 solid hours until about 1.30 in the morning. All the punks stayed up and watched these and absorbed it all. Once it started to show an influence in music they just went with it, they totally got what it was about. This TV had a way bigger influence than anything Alice Cooper or Screaming Lord Sutch or Screaming Jay bloody Hawkins might have done.
The other thing was the clothes you could find in second-hand shops. Sure, punks would often go along to Oxfam or some other charity shop and pick up various old rags that took their fancy. But there was a better class of second hand gear which could be found in proper antique and second hand shops, stuff the charity shops wouldn't take because they thought it was too old-fashioned. Well these were decent well-made clothes and these second hand shops took care to look after them and present them properly. The girls would go after the black Victorian mourning dresses and corsets and lace and granny ankle boots, and the lads would come away with grandad shirts and overcoats.
Also another thing that's been totally overlooked by 'Goth historians' is the sound these early Goths made. Everyone was very keen on thin silver bracelets, like 50 at a time, and these made a jangling sound as you walked along. You could hear a Goth coming up the stairs before they even got to the bar. The girls would also wear ankle cuffs with loads of tiny bells. I think they got this idea from Siouxsie, but still they were very popular at the time.

Long story short the first one he was at there was a brawl and he got hit in the back of the head with a chunk of asphalt/mud busted his head wide open and knocking him out(this was before they started caiging their stages with fence). I asked what happened next he said he woke up with a headache and kept drinking/moshing. It took the headache away but made him bleed even worse all over people and everything no one gave a fuck 😂 he did get stitches after the concert. He also said this was the first time he seen or been in a wall of death pretty much everyone slips into two then runs full force into each other in waves pretty insane. My dad went to probably over 100 concerts through his twenty's.

In 87 I looked like a tall skinny black crow with only one eye visible. My girlfriend had a massive bright red spiked mowhawk, shaved on the side. We went to Catholic School with a dress code dressed like this. There was only about 20 kids like us out of 700 students. 2 years later "grunge" arrives & suddenly we're the cool originals & respected by the exact same kids that mocked us.

I have to laugh at the first clip because they show two heavy metal (rocker) girls. in the 80"s any subculture was called "goth" from mainstream people. the girl with black hair with wide blonde streaks and the girl with the long blonde hair wear cut off shortes over tight with high heels was Metal.
I'm 53 and a "metal head", I agree, listen to over type music doesn't make you less then what subculture you consinder yourself part of. there is more to the diffrent subcuture then the music that's why the are called "subculture". (a small culture in a larger culture).

What we think of as trad goth makeup now and in the 80s was definitely cringe to me in the 90s. Loved it in the 80s and now. Still in California, extreme trad makeup does not seem common - at least not at the clubs and shows and stuff I go too

It's funny to me because it seems like it cycles every decade, popular in the 80s, unpopular in the 90s, popular again early 00s, unpopular 2010s and not its popular again.
In particular I'm talking about not just the makeup style but the use of colours/neons etc. Starting to see more extreme trad goth looks in Ireland with younger alternatives now too which is wild because it was never THAT popular here even in the 80s. Its hard to find any archive video/photos from Ireland in that time period of anyone with the siouxsie makeup. So we only took 40 years to catch up 😅

@@RandomGothCouple Interesting. Mainstream fashion often is 20-25 year cycle. Irl 2000s was still more simple makeup in comparison to what’s featured online now but things got more colorful and way more diverse fashion styles than before the way i remember it for a typical show or club or straight up t-shirt jeans. For shows and clubs people seemed to put way more effort in “hardcore” looks pre 2000s. More people having natural color hair 😅 Early 2010s I don’t remember much off-hand irl but a general hipstersization say Cold Cave or Lebanon Hanover video looks and in general I started wondering why social media was extremely colorful makeup and questioning all the dots and lines on faces lol. I fancied the dots - beauty marks though. The late 2010s and now I’ve been so impressed with newcomers modernizing trad. And I have a young adult/youth theory of filters normalizing a lot of stuff on the face creating a natural gravitation of bold makeup. A bit of a mainstream alignment moment say like that show Euphoria. As long as people are having fun experimenting with their creativity and self as a canvas, I’m appreciative and often inspired.

I've just come across this video of yours about Trad Goths and I really truthfully enjoyed it......especially the part with the interview with the young female reporter and the way thar the TV reporter was trying to be as cool as possible without basically saying......." Get ya coat luv."...... "you've pulled"!!! Hilarious....yes those were the days....As you have probably have gathered , as what you modern Goths call us now.....i to am a
Trad Goth or an Original first blood as we prefer, but Trad will do, just out of curiosity this for Lyn.......do these false fangs rub on the inside of your mouth as you seem to be in a little discomfort when speaking in your video. Just an observation, no malice in tended.
    Johnny. (V"""V).
