    So amazing, much respect to these pilots for their skills to help with the forest fires.

      The red one is not a 212. It's a 205 (UH-1). Tail Rotor is on the left hand side of the Aircraft. 212 has the rotor on the right hand side like the 412.

      The 1st one is an Oryx Chopper based at Air Force Base Ysterplaat, near Cape Town.

    I hope that somebody had the brains to capture that black plastic bag. If that got ingested by an aircraft or became wrapped around a tail rotor, it could be catastrophic.

    • @nargalda773
      @nargalda773 3 года назад +4

      @@swesleyc7 he fly low, hit directly the edge of the pond, and did not move when fill the tank, that skill you learn only by two way, hard trainig or using that kind of fly style under battle condition, like they do in Vietnam

    Are those some of the type choppers we used in NAM?

      I know for a fact the last 3 are. May be some type of updated computers and refurbished engine, but same extremely reliable design!

    • @heli-crewhgs5285
      @heli-crewhgs5285 Год назад +1

      Yes. The red and the yellow aircraft are the Bell 205, the civilian counterpart to the UH-1 ‘Huey’ that typifies the Vietnam conflict.

    It actually looks like this was their 4th run or something because you can see the water level from the walls and rocks

    Helicopters or planes, they always seem to fight fires in groups of four

    • @WW-wf8tu
      @WW-wf8tu 3 года назад +1

      There are a lot of variables involved to the # being used. I watched a guy(1 only) in CA fighting a brush fire using a nearby pool as his source. Was about a 2 minute process from drop, reload to drop again. Would have been more cumbersome to have more than 1 chopper in that scenario. What ever was going on in this scenario, can only assume there were only 4, could have been another 7 using another source to load up at. Those buckets we see here are only about 150 gallons. Goes by pretty fast.

    After watching in 0.25x and doing the math, I can say the last helicopter rotor was spinning at 720 rpm

    • @paulscott6605
      @paulscott6605 2 года назад +1

      At 720 rpm the rotor blades would fail. Check your math.

    • @erikhansen5172
      @erikhansen5172 2 года назад +1

      Incorrect. The Bell 205 / UH-1 (Red and yellow ones) has a Rotor RPM of about 300. The Super Puma in the begining has something similar.

    Very cool!! The public should go grab that plastic bag and look for other Foreign Object Debris (FOD) in between fillings. That one pilot that came close to the edge of the pond and blew up that garbage bag must have cut out a piece of the seat with his butt cheeks when that blew up!!
