As a professional hiking guide, hiking boots are the main part of my kit. Finding the best fitting hiking boot, which require very little or no breaking in, gives good support, is waterproof and does not cause any blisters, is an ongoing search. With the new shoes of Tecnica, the Tecnica Forge Hiking boot, there is a new product on the market which promises a great instant fit after the custom fit proces. An out of the box fit with no chance for blisters or any other discomfort. In order to test if these Tecnica Forge Hiking Boots fit this briefing, I went through the custom fit process to have them fit to my feet.
The process includes custom fit of the innersoles and the hiking boots themselves. Technic uses a heat molding proces, meaning that Thermoplasts in the soles and shoes are heated and under pressure the footbed, heel and ankle of the shoe are fitted to your feet. It is a relatively quick and definitely pain free process. After this, the hiking boots are stored in the freezer for 5 minutes, to let the materials cool and set. Once cooled, you can walk out of the shop with fitted hiking boots, ready to go on a tour.
