    To me, shortwave (SW) was the Internet before 2000s.

    "FM" broadcast frequencies are technically in the VHF band, not "FM." FM is the type of modulation.

    • @compasseleven
      @compasseleven  9 месяцев назад

      Absolutely right, this is also explained in Part 2. As people incl. beginners will refer to this frequency range (88-108 MHz) as FM Radio, I use it in the introduction as well, but you are right, this is called FM Broadcast Band located in the VHF range.

    This is what I have been looking for. Radio for Dummies! Thank you. I subscribed. I will stay subscribed but I strongly agree with the people who left comments about the AI voice. A human voice is always preferable. Please consider changing the audio. AI sucks.

      I’m really happy that you like the content, and thank you for subscribing! I know this speech synthesizer isn’t the best option, but it drastically cuts down production time for me. By the way, I have a video on my channel (not a shortwave one) featuring my own voice. You can check it out and see if it’s any better. // ruclips.net/video/xaD6AkDK64s/видео.html

      @@compasseleven I did check out the video with your real voice and it is much better than the AI stuff. I was an IT professional for 40+ years so I am no stranger to technology. I am sure we will learn many good uses for AI and I am also terrified by it. I don't how or why using AI "drastically" cuts down on your production time but I think the extra time and effort is worthwhile. Sounds like this is one more example of trading the good for the bad. This makes me wonder if you really are knowledgeable about radios or is everything artificial. I will watch them for a while but I don't think I will stay around for very long. Thanks again,

      Thanks for your feedback; I appreciate it! Just to set the record straight: I DO NOT USE AI to create the voice track. I create all the text/script myself; the voice is generated by an old-fashioned voice synthesizer, which has nothing to do with AI. And how does it cut production time? I usually write 1 A4 page of text for each video. With the speech synthesizer, this is a copy/paste process, and I have the voice. Otherwise, I would have to find a quiet place to record, proper equipment for the right quality, and when reading the text, you always make mistakes. So, not only do you have to read the text multiple times, but it also takes another hour or two to edit it correctly. This is quite a long process. As for my knowledge: feel free to be skeptical; 😉 I am happy if you stay longer! Have fun!

    I'm confused you say shortwave is from 3.0 to 30.0 Mhz but later you say weather station is 5505 khz . At what point between 3 and 30mhz is 5505 khz?

      5505 kHz = 5,505 MHz which is between 3 and 30 MHz. Hope this helps! 👍
