I am Igbo living in the US . This was a mindset I had to adopt . I stopped converting the value of my property in Nigeria, to dollars in my mind ,because it became tooo painful!! . I have investments back home and I now regard that as my Nigerian money to be used whenever I am in Nigeria . I am heavily invested in America and I have done well. To me anytime I send money to Nigeria that is investment .If I send dollars back home to pay school fees , help relatives start business or build something in Nigeria that is all investments that is helping the country !! Stop converting naira profit to Western currency and you will not be discouraged to invest !

Makes perfect sense for as long as you're remitting equity of yours to Nigeria. But if it is leveraged funds and you wish to repatriate the investment, it makes no sense. The good thing about devaluation is that it attracts capital that will stay permanently or for long term like yours. Kudos to you. 👏🏻

If you loved the home country that much, the person shoukd not have left in the 1st place. Many abroad are obsessed with emotional sentiments about Nigeria. They miss all the chaos and wasteful parties😅. People should just make choices of what they wish. There's no crime in NOT investing in Nigeria as a Nigerian. Even those top elites resident primarily in Naija, bank execs, politicians, rent seekers etc spend most of their money abroad and investments abroad. I believe dispaorans are just yielding to nature's call which is being sentimental over their fatherland. Stay in Lagos for 6 months without the protection of a driver, assistants or family friends. You'll run back abroad after tasting the chaos of traffic, power issues, lack of order or respect for rule of law, inability to jog or hike without fear....etc....Every citizen abroad needs to do this once a year to clear their eyes from the sentiments.😅😅😅

Most people who always discourage people not to invest in Nigeria do not have any investment, neither where they live nor in Nigeria. Investing in Nigeria is a wise decision for me. In Nigeria, the poor will always want to advise the rich, especially when they do not know your worth.

As for security it depends on where you invest and how especially for real estates, in Nigeria you can own land and everything on it but in many western countries you do not own everything indefinitely. Apart from states like Lagos most houses and lands in other states and villages are still standing till date with no hassles, threats or charges, Invest where you like we all have different views. Nothing new but better than leaving your money in the bank. Unfortunately we have many people who will rather paint the geographical expression called Nigeria bad. 1) Treasury Bills are low risk investments and have very good yields at the moment.
    2) Anyone with large Naira deposits (not needed in the short term) is better off opening a domicilliary account and converting such into USD, GBP or Euros to preserve the value during the current volatility.

I love to invest in Nigeria - it is something - my parents, Aunties and uncles have impacted in me. (1) It is not true that if you have 5 million in the bank - you are paid 2k naira interest. (Everything depends on the type of account and the percentage of interest the bank agrees to pay e.g 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 percent) Every month. I know for certain a 5 million naira in the bank would command - minimum of 30 thousand naira upwards every month (2) This is the best time to invest in real estate in Nigeria. The mistake of people abroad is that - they are interested in posh areas, where a plot of land is 30 million naira - while there are areas where a completed building is 17 - 20 million naira. Best of luck everyone. My advise is that invest abroad and invest in Nigeria .

I’m invested heavily in Nigeria even as it seems like the economy is in shambles. The opportunities there are enormous and the riskier the investment the greater the reward. As for the exchange rate risk, I have decided to avoid it by leaving the money there (both the principal and returns). Of particular interest right now are the capital and debt markets. Just last week, the FGN auctioned T-bills at an astonishing rate of 27%, which almost mitigates inflation there. This is easy and guaranteed money given that the T-bills are backed by the full faith of the government. Tell me where else on this planet you can get that!

So anyone that is not interested in investing in Nigeria that is watching this channel is only doing so for entertainment.

people like you don't have money to invest in Nigeria because you are deeply direct in the abroad. but when you see people like us, that's invested in Nigeria, enjoying our lives by traveling to Naija every year, living our best life, running away for weather because it is too cold. going for long holidays because we have the money to spend. you will be looking at us like mumu. continue to invest all your money in the abroad, and when you get older, you will end up in the old people's home. or when you get older, you will start selling all your property to live on. I wish you all the best.

@dollyosadolor1489 overall you will gain investing outside nigeria. Anything that goes into that country call Nigeria don't ever come back better. People in nigeria still need to work to put a better leader. If you are investing in a place where changing your money back doesn't benefit you. You better not try it. Yes Nigeria is good for those who live in Nigeria and buying land and property but its not good for anyone outside nigeria. People should know it is not only in nigeria someone can buy land and keep.

Saving is great but taking risks puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. Flo, all well said except the interest payments from Nigeria banks on a five million Naira account (savings). On a five million Naira savings from one of oldest bank in Nigeria, will get you above N20k a month, after N2k maintenance fee. No US bank will pay you $13.00 a month on a $3500.00 savings balance or even $10,000.00, unless you are investing it on a long term CD (certificate of deposit) Thanks for all your blogs.

Anybody leaving naira in the bank or anywhere idle in Nigeria needs his or her head checked whether you are in Nigeria or diaspora. Or at the very least, convert that money to dollars, pounds or euro but do not leave them in any Nigerian bank especially in a dollar account. I have been screaming about this for about 8yrs now. Invest that money in real estate, a secure real estate at that, especially land if you are outside Nigeria. If you must start a business in Nigeria, you must be around to run it unless you want to make somebody else rich. This present Nigerian governent is desparate for dollars and will convert that money to naira at your expense. Nigeria has been reduced to a lawless country since 2015. Everybody knows that or at least should.
That's my 10 cents there. Take it anyway you want but word to the wise.

    Flo,
The people that are against investing in Nigeria are those who are utterly ignorant of the goldmine that it truly is.
This thinking has a dowse of inferiority complex and low self-esteem associated with it.
The Question You Need To Ask Them Is:
Do foreigners not invest in Nigeria?
OYIBO NOR DEY INVEST FOR NIJAH?!
If Nigeria was a total right-off, would foreigners bother to invest in Nigeria?
Like i said before, this is ignorance brewed by inferiority complex and low self-esteem.

My issue is: what is someone that is so against investing in Nigeria doing on a channel that talks about investing in Nigeria? 😂 If they are so busy investing outside Nigeria, how do they have the time to watch me?
i don't really care if zero foreigners invest in Nigeria, those who want to invest in Nigeria should be allowed to do so in peace. It's our money we will lose, right? Investing outside Nigeria and investing in Nigeria are not mutually exclusive so they should drop that argument.

These people who show up here discouraging people from investing in Nigeria and trying to cause confusion here can be likened to students in school who are not interested in reading, but nevertheless, go to the Library to distract other students who wish to be serious with their studies. That's what they are.
I expect everyone who watches your show to be able to identify these sorts of characters and ignore them.
All they do is throw illogic into the wheel to frustrate general progress.

That's how a friend of mine who base in Chicago who never believe in investing in Nigeria came back and was surprised when he saw those at home he taught will never succeed or beg him money living big and has world brand offices 😊. You are doing well and leave those who don't believe in what you share. The truth is that many has this dislike for the name.

    • @Tirelesswarrior
      @Tirelesswarrior 5 месяцев назад

I agree and also disagree. We've been conditioning as Nigerians to believe doing well is all individualistic unfortunately. 😮 Those you're referring to have naira amassed and jet out of the Nigeria to oynbo land for every little excuse. Even their malaria medications are imported. If you expand doing well to how well a society functions which is what creators of civilization did, then you'll discover we're light years behind and we have work to do. Staying in Ikoyi, Lagos with an army of drivers and nannies, big mansion and phone number of inspector General of police on your phone is NOT the real measure of doing well. If we could muster 10% of working infrastructure of Chicago in any city in Nigeria, I will congratulate us. Thats what the target should be. Then, you'll be talking.

Investment is good but give people the good advice. There is a reason people are still getting out off the country. With the rate at which Nigeria is going. Its just a matter of time war will brake out. People are starving and the government don't give a fuck. If not for diaspora sending money to there family. Nigeria would have been no more. A country that is not producing think devaluing its currency its a good idea. China can chose to do that because they are producing country and not consuming.

IF during Buhari dollar was maximum 700 Naira, and now Tinubu dollar is 1500 Naira and still going up. The higher the Naira to a dollar, the more difficult life is in Nigeria. If you like give Tinubu 10 years, it wont make any difference. You can't TAX your way to better economy. See example, developed countries!!
