    Life does get easier for an INFJ as we age. You become more settled with your decisions, more comfortable having a small number of friends and much more understanding of others, and your own, idiosyncrasies. Life can still be quite stressful, to put it mildly, but you do learn to control and adjust to things around you in a healthier way. Truly enjoy your sessions. Thank you.

      I agree as a 57 year old Australian man, it takes a while to come into your own.

    it's hard to find a satisfying job as an INFJ.

      Yup it's true. I think it's good for an INFJ to create their own job. More freedom of expression and the ability to work on things of value to them.

      Yes it is Sylvia, I agree with you, but with time hopefully our intuition will lead us to the right place, we just have to keep on hearing and we have to trust in It

      So true. I get bored easily and go thru lots of jobs. Once i master it im ready to move on. I am an engineering major. Think i found the sweet spot. It has to be mentally or physically challenging

      I can see how that would be true...In case it helps, I'm a concept artist and I get to work on a lot of different things within the company I work for. I can pretty much say there isn't a job in the world I'd rather have.

      Sylvia Lopez. The idea is you should value variety so you should be multi skilled. Otherwise go into business for yourself. That puts you in survival mode and you tend to focus less on job satisfaction. Another thing just came to mind is having a job that sees you going from project to project or from one campaign to another. When I started my first business I was scared at the prospect of having to deal with many different people. But I got used to it and realised I was actually good at dealing with people from the feedback customers gave me. That went one step further when I realised it was in my customers that I was getting the variety that I craved. I was meeting so many diverse people and on top of servicing them I was forging relationships with them. I was fulfilled by these relationships. This was for me the best variety a person can have because its based on real living people who I could communicate with and share things with. And so many of these people needed an outsider to confide in and share things with. My customers became my friends and their wallets were suddenly more eager to part with their cash because they trusted me. LOL..!!

    I was mistyped as an INTP for years. Just recently found out that I'm definitely INFJ.

    I like how you explained the type preferences using the analogy of dominant vs non-dominant handwriting.
    I've been struggling with a way to articulate MBTI to others, and this is a nice clear way to look at it.
    Thanks for the great video!

      Hello again:-) I would like you to clarify something please, as far as the four pair is concerned - how we prefer our external world - J versus P, is it an inborn tendency or is it more an environmental tendency?
      Thank you

    • @joyofdiscovery
      @joyofdiscovery  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Veraleigh, glad that you like my videos! According to MBTI research all preferences are inborn. The environment alters how cognitive functions are used in the real world. Eg Ni, Fe, etc. but the inborn preferences I/E, J/P etc don't change over the course of your whole life. Like people are born with a preference for being right handed or left handed, and that doesn't change according to the environment though if you are right handed you can train yourself to use your left hand and over time use it well.

    I am an INFJ and I do love to make plans, most of the time in details. But somehow I’ve learned along the way that it’s okay when things don’t go according to my plans and I’m actually cool with it. Is it possible to learn to be the exact opposite of your mbti type? I just feel that I shift to different personality types according to situations and I’ve learned that some of my tendencies are not really healthy. So, am I still considered an INFJ , have I been mistyped or is it possible to shift MBTI types? Just curious...😊☺️

    • @joyofdiscovery
      @joyofdiscovery  5 лет назад +5

      Thanks for your question! Your MBTI type doesn't change over the course of your life, but how you use all 8 cognitive functions will change with life circumstances and different situations. That doesn't mean that your type has changed from INFJ, it just means that your life requires the use of certain non-preferred functions at that point in time. For example, if you are right handed you can learn to use your left hand, and be very good at it, but at the end of the day your right hand will be dominant, and given a choice you will revert to using your right hand as it feels more natural. Hope this helps! :)

    what personality type asks you the same question for years , like ,"would you like a sandwich ?" you say,"No i dont eat bread ,nor do i need anything " They appear with some grocery item and say ,"Now i know you said you did not need anything ..but" ..while you have steam beginning to come out of your ears and this livid feeling creeping in and then you just want to combust into full on rage at the redundancy of this interaction ,yet feel guilty that this person who is so "nice" and caring ,and you feel like some Diva and should be grateful which i am but...this is maddening .Why do they ask me in the first place if they will do what they want anyways ? I ended up not returning texts and seeing this person for six months.

    is there sch a things as an infp or an isfp? // i have no clue what i m... in that this is new info to me... stumbled on it strangely by recommended videos in my feed on infjs... ?! does my computer or the internet think i m n infj?! lol idk... i m both introverted and extroverted... i can be painfully shy, removed, distant, withdrawn, dis-connective, etc... or i can b the opposite... very charming, eloquent, confident, at ease, connective, etc... i can talk too little or too much... i can prefer to write over talking, n/or i can prefer talking over writing when it comes to communicating, depending... some things r better spoken some r better written... n then there is what mood i m in, how i m feeling n how clear my thinking is, how much or little energy i have, etc... factors into my choice of communication style at any given moment... i m an artist, n i am a performance artist... so that seems extroverted... tho i also m extremely introverted much of the time... i do find to be extroverted, it requires much too much of my energy... it takes a lot out of me... n i must recharge being an introvert... i have a hard time with using my phone for voice calls... preferring text messages... majority of the time... tho sometimes i do like phone calls, very much... but again, they r hard for me; require a lot of energy for me... n i def do not like to leave voice mail... i haven't always been the same all the time in all ways... some things i have been better or worse at at varying times depending... after traumas, i tend to get worse at a lot of things... yet then i will end up like a super hero in certain awesome ways... ?! esp how the adrenaline effects me n how i can channel it... (to make the best out of a shit situation...) i m a very intuitive woman, n have always been very intuitive as a child as well... n i m also a hyper sensitive type, so idk?! i m probably more so feeling than thinking, or i think through my feelings if that makes any sense? tho i do prefer when i can be more practical, n i need to have thought through sensible n practical, workable plans... n i can't stand poor planning... however i m very flexible n adaptable... n i do not like it when others r too rigid n not flexible nor adaptable when it is necessary to be flexible n adaptable... i don't c the point to that kind of rigidity, n it seems frictional n problematic... like a block or clog in the flow... i m very thoughtful n i value thinking things through n being thorough... i tend to over think i have also been told this about myself... n that i can disconnect from my feelings through over thinking n being very analytical... i tend towards being super analytical, n very thoughtful n considerate or like everything overall... lol... i tend to think of everything, or nearly that, or at least i try to... tho i m capable of missing things n being wrong as well... but i m too often right, on point, n mark making, even when i wish i was wrong. much of my thinking n feeling is intuition and sense based... so?!!? sometimes i get so caught up in feelings, but in inarticulate ways... n then i have to take personal inventory n feel my my feelings n connect with my feelings n articulate my feelings, which then informs my thinking n choices... making decisions can be too challenging for me... n can be quite a process... of thinking and feeling mixed together... it can be arduos n take me much too long... mulling things over in indecision n going back n forth until finally i get clear (hopefully... lol) or i m the opposite... very impulsive n compulsive n make very immediate decisions... if based on intuition n sense based, then i tend to make at least some amount of important, effective choices that way... tho usually there r great things n also some amount of not great things which come out of my impulsive compulsive immediate decisions... which imo have a certain power in them for the immediacy n confidence in which they r made... in particular... even if certain aspects end up turning out less than ideal... there r usually powerful reasons why i needed to make such decisions n for those reasons i m always proud of myself for following my gut... despite whatever aspects end up being not as i wish... i wish i could have everything work out well, n tco all aspects n have a supremely ideal outcome for my choices... maybe i have not found that level of sweet balance yet... i hope i m able to attain such powerful wholly ideal manifestations. usually what has been less than ideal is how things have been for myself... even tho i have accomplished some amount of great good for the greater good of the whole... (which yes in a picture of infinity, can seem like a drop in an ocean, if even... but still, nonetheless, profoundly significant micro-macro positive impact... to toot my own horn a lil bit, wth. ;) ) not sure if i covered everything i meant to... but as far as the last letters of how we relate with the world in either perceptiveness or judgmentally... i m pretty confident i m a P in that department... i tend towards being very perceptive... that might be the main category i feel quite confidently clear on... the first 3 i feel i m a mix, n i do not feel clear on this stuff... it seems confusing, n i m not sure if it makes sense to me, or if i even get it... ?! hmm... i mean like i m prolly more so an introvert than an extrovert, naturally... ? maybe? tho i m both... so maybe that one i could go with introvert on... ? as far as #2 goes, i m very intuitive through my sense; senses; sensing... etc... i sense things... i intuit things... so...??? how does one pick between those things which for me are like one and the same n go hand in hand?! i couldn't tell u if i m one more than the other... nor do i get the point? same goes for thinking and feeling; #3... i do both. if i have to pick one more than the other, maybe i would pick feeling?! tho i know i m def a mix of both... n i m not confident i would b accurate by picking feeling over thinking... so...?! i m confused. i feel like i don't get this stuff. it seems mainly 2 n 3 r most confusing for me... but 1 is kinda as well... i seem to be a mish mosh of both things for the first 3... but as per 4, i m pretty confident i m more perceptive than judgmental towards the world... ? all that being said, if i was forced to pick (n not at all feeling certain about it; betting on inaccuracy, n still not really getting the point...) i guess i would pick: INFP? either that or: ISFP? tho i could b entirely incorrect on how to self assess in this methodology...? what is an infp / isfp i wonder? hearing infjs communicate tho, i tend to relate with them too... ? so idk... i find this stuff very confusing... it seems that many people feel it is helpful information to them tho, which i m glad about. :)

      Wow, such a long steady stream of consciousness! I'm honored. Haha! Glad that you're exploring your type and maybe your computer does seem to think you are an INFJ based on what is showing up on your feed! The best way of knowing your type is to take the MBTI official test and get it clarified with a certified MBTI Instructor. Barring that, just reading and watching vids is a good way, though it may take you a lot longer, and no doubt you'll get somewhat confused along the way. But it's all part of the fun! Whichever path you choose, best of luck in your self-discovery journey! :)

    So I have a question... I seem to have the Infj stack Ni, Fe, Ti, Se... However I seem to have a preference for perceiving Obviously Infj's are perceiving first.... I'm wondering if it's just that I've been generally very intraverted... More than most. I don't connect with the planning judging aspect ... But that may be partially that I just plan at the last minute after I've done a lot of Ni Ti . And I do get that I just say... We should do it this way and this is why... Then I say... What do you think about that?
