@@IsilionNELE what how is that a stretch? I'm almost certain it was put In on purpose. They put much smaller and intricate details into the show, this isn't just a random coincidence.
I think there's something really interesting about that tension that makes people recoil you mentioned in the scene with jinx and silco. Because Silco is genuinely trying to give advice to jinx, but what worked for him is not necessarily the best for jinx and I think that this is supposed to show that there is something inherently wrong with their relationship. You can tell he actually wants to be a father figure in his own ways but he is a bad influence on her mind's state. Although right after she is able to keep on working on the hextech gemstone so it did work to some extent.
I didn't find the Imagine Dragons jarring, probably because I haven't been hyper exposed to them. Their performance does seem to have a storytelling element to it though... Piltover music is shown a classical, in a theatre, people dressed up to attend the performance. The undercity is direct, in a street, ad-hoc.

Something i want to say about arcane, is that they the strong women trop perfekt. Both Sevika and Vi are both absolute bad asses and great charakter. And as a league fan since 2012 the enemy part was more like an hommage to Imagine Dragons, as they did the Warrior back in 2014 which was a big hit. The Song has been loved since 2014 in the league community.
Imagine Dragons and Riot Games go back very far. I think they made their World Championship Songs like almost 10 Years ago. From a fan's point of view this cameo is really not as surprising as you might think. Also this song got overplayed after this came out since the song got made on Riot Games behalf, like "warriors" or "Legens never die" all League of Legens songs.
There was no contract, Imagine Dragons and Riot have been friends for many years they did the Worlds 2014 song and they also did Enemy for Arcane. It wasn't a business decision, they didn't hire Imagine Dragons to do it. ID wanted to do it they love League of Legends and wanted to be part of Arcane. You are reading too much into it as it being a business decision. It was the opposite.
the reason i find cool that imagine dragon was in the serie , is because i know they are big big fan of the games even got late in a show because they where playing a ranked xD , i feel like they just wanted to be in it, to be in it without more XD
the thing with imagine dragons is that the history with them goes way back to 2012 when they made a song for Worlds, so a lot of league fans actualy like them, so this cameo was pretty sick when it came out, but now when the song became notorious because of all the memes it does look corny xd
What, no! A lot of people thought it was corny, and let's face it, it is corny as hell. Don't get me wrong, Arcane is one of my favorite shows of all time, but if I could cut one scene, it would probably be that one. Or at least not make it so obvious. There's multiple cameos in the show, but this is the only one that feels like it takes center stage with how intrusive it is.
Yes, VI on her cheek is her "nickname" (Vi for Violet), also the Roman numeral for the number 6 (V for 5, I for 1, equals 6), and her "inmate number" was 5...1...6. So, it has several meanings.
Jayce didn't get sold on the money. I'd say the show has made clear by this point his ideals are purer than that. He simply realized there that there's no going forward without playing the game, which he's trying to do. To what level of proficiency though, that's more open for debate 🤣.
I'm quite sure most people enjoyed the music video part. Maybe because they don't know it's a kameo? I don't get the cringe. That knee kick interrupting the music was sick
They know its a kameo, they just cringe about the song because at this point the song is so over played, like they said, maybe if they hear it when it came out it wouldn't matter
I've not heard the song before watching the show and only roughly heard the name of the band, not heard anything from them. The cameo was nice. It's kind of their fault for letting the song being overplayed at them.
TBH I didn't know how Imagine Dragons looked and I was still 100% sure that was them making a cameo just for how intrusive it is. You don't put so much effort into the design of a band and focus so much on them during that song if it's not a cameo. I didn't mind it though. I did know the songs were composed specifically for the show, so it's fair enough. I can understand how it broke the immersion for some people, though.
@@Peace_Guard how is their fault dude? I don't know were You been but yeah the song is really overplayed, It didn't gave me cringe thou but I understand were they coming from haha
Why the hate on imagine dragon, its fine for me, im not a fan of imagine dragon fyi. Btw they r (imagine dragon) long fan of league of legends thats why the show runner invited them to be part of this masterpiece.
The Imagine Dragons stuff didn't bother people much because the core audience of the show has a soft spot for them, since the band were fans of the game and ended up making the 2014 World Championship song "Warriors" which became insanely popular. So yeah, objectively the cameo is on the corny side but when the show was releasing no one really batted an eye at it.
@@Sho-is5vu I didn't say cringe, I said corny. It takes you out of the episode immediately and breaks the immersion. Why is you liking the cameo valid but you feel the need to invalidate the feelings of people who dislike it by claiming it's because they have something against the band. A part of it might be from dislike of the band but it doesn't matter who they put in any sort of cameo like that is weird and can be off putting if you care about the tone of what you are making. Even if they shoved in prime Scorpions or Iron Maiden in there people would still find it strange, it's a strange choice to make. And it gets a pass because it's obviously done as an homage due to the band's history with the game.
@@KolyoSofiata Sorry, I was not speaking against you.. I was just talking in general a lot of people are biased and calling the scene corny/cringy because they don't like the band. I've even seen people annoyed that the opening song is done by ID and not some "good band". I understand the criticism of breaking immersion but with the nature of the show having a music video every episode it didn't feel weird instead I felt like it showed how different music/entertainment is in Zaun compared to the theatre scene in Piltover.
@@KolyoSofiataIt's kind of the opposite. It stongly contributes to the immersion that's then broken by the kick. Without it the effect wouldn't be the same.
The scene in the brothel is one of the funniest moments of the entire show. Caitlyn's discomfort followed by Vi pulling a freaking Anime Wall-Pin, then the reveal of Cait happily chatting with...women. Vi's response being "Hm...that's fun." Silco is ~probably~ the most discussed character in the show because he's such a complicated character. His relationship with Jinx is really freaking complicated. Jayce is another weird one because...he's a himbo. He's a himbo. He is smart at one thing, Hextech, but for everything else he only ever has one thought or priority in his brain and it's related to whomever talked to him last. Imagine Dragons has been working with Riot for about a decade, and most of their crew are active players. Fortiche put a number of cameos throughout Arcane, whether it's Ray Chen as the performer, ID in the lanes, their directors playing in the background...though you're not the only ones that considered ID existing in-universe really jarring.
I don't understand the reaction to the imagine dragons scene... I get that for some reason people dislike imagine dragons and meme them, but I thought it was a pretty cool scene even without the context of Imagine Dragons having a long history with Riot. You guys are a bit too biased with finding it corny... It's ok if you think so, but saying you'd be surprised if someone liked the scene? Yeah, actually, a lot of people did. Even another musician had made a cameo too but you didn't find him cringey because you didn't know him.
I believe that Marcus is trying to fill in Graysons shoe. The old Vander&Grayson and the new Silco&Marcus. He couldn't look up Graysons statue until his daugther questioned who she was. And by now I'm starting to catch that Silco may not be ther utter evil. His image through the way he treats Powder is very different from part1. From ep4 you could see him getting mad at powder terrorizing upside which could hurt balance of top&bottom? Also giving fatherly advice(Baptise scene) like Vander did to Violet. And you know PowPow and Silco's relationship is weird, it's why you would freak out watching her sitting on his lap and him getting close to the face.
One of the reasons i love this show so much is because even after multiple viewing's i still find new details about it. Vi's tatoo on her cheek could mean her name and also stands for number 6 in roman numerals. I never put any significance one the number 6, but it could also stand for the number of her new family member's. Vander, Milo, Claggor, Ekko, Vi and Jinx.
В этом сериале очень хорошо передают обстановку того, что находится вокруг персонажей И музыкальное сопровождение про шедевральное, например в этой серии, когда Вай паркурила по своему родному месту Благодарю за видос
Yes they introduced three different romances in this episode but the purpose of each one of them was very different and could hardly be further away from romance itself for the sake of it. Although I get you just meant that as a joke.
Hey if you're planning to continue watching stuff from the Arcane/League of Legends world (first I would recommend the behind the scenes miniseries, it's on the Riot Games RUclips channel so you don't have to worry about copyright stuff, most reactors just leave the whole video). There's a good channel called Shambits Gaming that talks about Riot games stuff in his videos, but he also has like a lore videos miniplaylist, that's split into the different regions of the world of Arcane. They are really good and feel easy to understand for league lore newbies. Obviously the official league cinematics by themselves, specially the ones with Arcane characters in them. And then there are Necrit lore videos, they're good but sometimes for sake of not prolonging the video he says lore inaccurate stuff.
I was surprised to learn that many people didn't like Imagine dragons inclusion, but it's probably more depends on a country where you're watching. To the people from US, where some group is particularly popular - it's inclusion in a story might break the immersion, rather then feel just like any other rand OST
I think tou guys hit the nail on the head with the sex/blood being important for the immanentization of the HexCore. Blood and sex magic are some of the oldest and strongest kinds of magic. It had to have been important
I forgot Imagine Dragons was in this episode. I had listened to Enemy countless times but I found myself favoring the female covers. Regarding Sevika's arm. My takeaway is that it is regularly pumping microdoses of Shimmer into her during her fight. The small but regular injections boost her strength while mitigating the side effects that normally cause them to hulk out. Most people need to take a larger dose so it would last them the fight but she can spread it out.
Oh the Misery!!! Such a fun scene. Though yeah, it was best when the show first released. The songs of Arcane have spread so far now that they kind of make you want to chuckle too 😆
The first time I saw this episode, the lab/sex scene confused me, and I thought it was pointless, and maybe just a self indulgent artistic exercise. Just pretty, and slightly vague for the sake of it. My opinion changed after seeing the rest of the show, as I then understood what the scene was giving us. The scene between Jayce and Mel being set directly against Victor in the lab, is meant to show two things I think. One, that Victor doesn't have the time/privilege to find love in his life, something that Jayce can take for granted. Victor is focused entirely on the technology, he likely isn't even aware of the interest Sky is showing him, just as Jayce wasn't aware of Victors plight. Victor's time is limited, and he strives to focus what he has left, on progressing their work for everybody, and possibly himself. (((spoilers if you haven't seen the rest of the show, do not read without having seen all nine episodes))) The second part of what that scene is showing, is that you see Jayce and Mel forming a new bond, beyond work, the two are becoming entangled, they are a couple. Victor's blood joins with the hex core, and he is now tied to/bonded with it. The show hardly ever does anything without a reason, on my first watch I just didn't understand the situation in the scene, or that fact about Arcane. I love this show, I hope the writers and animators are being given the time, and encouragement they need to make another stellar season. I can't even complain about the wait, I'd rather get another quality run of episodes, than to get them sooner just to satisfy my childish impulse. It's like that delayed gratification exercise they use on toddlers, with one cookie now, or two later. In order to find out when they have learned the value of waiting for a greater reward. I hope everyone at Riot and Fortiche are just having a great day. xD
Its not cringe. Imagine being an artist and some random indie game developer offer to animate you a music video and put it in a one of the best show. That’s cool. Not a fan of imagine dragons either but come on
Imagine being a big fan of some game or song, and the producers asked you to do a cameo- or provide content for it- then some 16-year-olds with their own channel called you 'cringe' for being in it? It's been a while since I had an immature mindframe about famous people doing what they want, but it seems quite disrespectful to attack them for a cameo. It's fine having your opinion about Imagine Dragons music, but attacking the group for being honored for being fans on a TV show is TRULY cringe. I thought as much as you analyze the show, you would keep perspective in mind.
have you guys seen the promotional videoclip trailer of the serie, the videoclipe of the song Enemy ? It was all about it, because the promotional thing Enemy by imagine dragons feat JID, the part that them appears on the show its really a little unnecessary, but the videoclipe have one of the coolest animations
This is probably my least favorite episode in the show. Still has its high points, but in parts it just felt a bit off. Oh, and though you've probably either finished or are near the end, the main thing that ruined Silco's plans was the advent of Hextech, which made Piltover exponentially more powerful out of nowhere. Shimmer just cannot compete if Hextech is fully weaponized. So Silco realized that the status quo had to continue. Shimmer was not going to be the game-changer that he'd imagined. But he did pretty much become the next Vander, just not of his own volition. He also succeeded in making enforcers avoid the undercity entirely during the time-skip. I think Mel just ages well. And I don't think she's supposed to be that old. Maybe 35, 40 tops. Someone that rich who takes care of themself can easily look a decade younger. There are some women IRL in their fifties who legit look 22.
I mean you guys are entitled to your opinion and all that but you guys are literally the first people I've seen react negatively to the whole imagine dragons sequence. I myself don't really have an opinion on it but you guys are definitely in the minority thinking it was cringe.

@@Myysteryman That's really far fetched. I'm sure it's just the name "Vi".
one may as well claim that 516 is a "mathematical pun" because 5 +1 = 6.
As they say, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar
@@IsilionNELE what how is that a stretch? I'm almost certain it was put In on purpose. They put much smaller and intricate details into the show, this isn't just a random coincidence.
Gotta say my favorite part of the episode WAS the band cameo guys. That was enormously cool to me.
Same
I think there's something really interesting about that tension that makes people recoil you mentioned in the scene with jinx and silco.
The song "enemy" was written and produced by the creators of the show. It's the same with every song that plays in Arcane.
Some are. Enemy isn't.
PRODUCTION CREDITS
Enemy by Imagine Dragons & JID
Written by: Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee, Daniel Platzman, Robin Fredriksson, Mattias Larsson, Justin Tranter, Destin Route p/k/a J.I.D

Enemy is written for Arcane though.
This time, yall missed important little details through the show that could have been used as foreshadow for jayce's "sudden" change. He's high on his own ego, he always had egomaniac tendencies, he signed his own notes, something no one would see, he also had a mug with his own face, after his rise in popularity. He doesn't dress as a scientist but as an aristocrat. Details like that show case his strong ego, that was stroked by Mel in the perfect way so that he acts the way she wants him to.
41:21 - Maybe she's born with it? Maybe it's *Mel-belline!* "Black don't crack" is basically what it is. lol She is rich and got melenin to slow down the aging process.
After you finish the series, I think you two would enjoy Bridging the Rift, a 5 episode docuseries on the making of Arcane. It's available on RUclips.
"Viktor's about to have a breakthrough without you."
Jayce is about to have a breakthrough of his own, lol.
the thing with imagine dragons is that the history with them goes way back to 2012 when they made a song for Worlds, so a lot of league fans actualy like them, so this cameo was pretty sick when it came out, but now when the song became notorious because of all the memes it does look corny xd
you're the only reactor who said the cameo is corny.
Nah, I've seen a few dislike it. Not everyone loves ID. From what I've seen, most seem to find it funny though
What, no! A lot of people thought it was corny, and let's face it, it is corny as hell. Don't get me wrong, Arcane is one of my favorite shows of all time, but if I could cut one scene, it would probably be that one. Or at least not make it so obvious. There's multiple cameos in the show, but this is the only one that feels like it takes center stage with how intrusive it is.
a lot of people in your bubble maybe.@@ninjatoriumnova2483
Yes, VI on her cheek is her "nickname" (Vi for Violet), also the Roman numeral for the number 6 (V for 5, I for 1, equals 6), and her "inmate number" was 5...1...6. So, it has several meanings.
Imagine Dragons cameo was one of the highlights of this episode for a lot of people
Jayce didn't get sold on the money.
It's kind of their fault for letting the song being overplayed at them.
everything is cringe 🥸🥸
Since when did cameos become cringe? I think a lot people don't like Imagine Dragons and that's making them label it as cringe
As someone who doesn't listen to Western music all that much, I think their inclusion was really cool easter egg that doesn't effect the story at all
@@Sho-is5vu I didn't say cringe, I said corny.
I love how this show breaks story and character cliches, specifically with silco and councilor Medarda.
The scene in the brothel is one of the funniest moments of the entire show. Caitlyn's discomfort followed by Vi pulling a freaking Anime Wall-Pin, then the reveal of Cait happily chatting with...women. Vi's response being "Hm...that's fun."
Silco is ~probably~ the most discussed character in the show because he's such a complicated character.
You can see at the end of the cameo scene, when Viktor is on the hospital bed, the next scene starts with two very specific tarot cards
its funny seeing calling moments of arcane corny from people who adore anime
Джинкс довольно таки умна
Все эти механизмы - её разработка
И впринципе она даже разобралась в записях из книги, которую украла из лаборатории
And you know PowPow and Silco's relationship is weird,
it's why you would freak out watching her sitting on his lap and him getting close to the face.
В этом сериале очень хорошо передают обстановку того, что находится вокруг персонажей
И музыкальное сопровождение про шедевральное, например в этой серии, когда Вай паркурила по своему родному месту
Благодарю за видос
Yes they introduced three different romances in this episode but the purpose of each one of them was very different and could hardly be further away from romance itself for the sake of it. Although I get you just meant that as a joke.
The Imagine Dragons cameo always gets me so good
Not you guys theorizing Mel is so kind of gold-infused immortal being 😂Love that for you :p
'Buddy cop' dynamic? You must be historians.
carson’s expressions in the thumbnails are only continuing to get better lol
I sure hope your theory that Mel is immortal turns out to be correct, 'cause we'll be HEAVILY testing that theory in season two!
You're reviews and discussions are always epic. Can't wait for when you get to Blue Eye Samurai.
I was surprised to learn that many people didn't like Imagine dragons inclusion, but it's probably more depends on a country where you're watching. To the people from US, where some group is particularly popular - it's inclusion in a story might break the immersion, rather then feel just like any other rand OST
I think Jinx is living out of a ventilation shaft, meant to pump air into the lower city, but has fallen into disrepair.
Golden quotes this episode! "The whole show isn't that sexual, except for the sex."
The Elden Ring DLC trailer just released... I CANT WAIT
great reaction, and commentary, and yeah I loved seeing the band in the show idk, it was fun
I thought it was a fun cameo. lol
Your discussion is so good it makes me wanna pay for the patreon right now LOL
Oh the misery
(((spoilers if you haven't seen the rest of the show, do not read without having seen all nine episodes)))
The second part of what that scene is showing, is that you see Jayce and Mel forming a new bond, beyond work, the two are becoming entangled, they are a couple. I hope everyone at Riot and Fortiche are just having a great day. xD
Boxing Machine scene , Just epic!!! DOOM Music kicks in******
If you lived in Madrid, you would really get breathing contaminated air in and feel home 🤣
Love your guys reaction
Its not cringe. Imagine being an artist and some random indie game developer offer to animate you a music video and put it in a one of the best show. That’s cool. Not a fan of imagine dragons either but come on
"Indie game developer". Isn't League like top 5 in terms of generating income? It's no longer in its heyday, but it's still way up there.

We didn’t even care about it that much
It was just not our thing why is that so crazy?
have you guys seen the promotional videoclip trailer of the serie, the videoclipe of the song Enemy ? It was all about it, because the promotional thing

Mel's beautiful, so can't blame Jayce too much for folding. 🤷♀️
As Mel Medarda's #1 fan, I can attest that she would be a terrible mother, but hey! At least there's no way she can be worse than her own mom :D
enjoyed this episode reaction
I think you’re right but calling Jayce a munch is weird 😂 like … yes, but weird way o say it
I like the song, I like the fact that they put the band into the show. You're very salty about it, let people enjoying that song.
I...I thought the band being there was neat 😥
Jayce choose woman. Viktor choose Job. Viktor is a top G, an alpha xD
I mean you guys are entitled to your opinion and all that but you guys are literally the first people I've seen react negatively to the whole imagine dragons sequence. I myself don't really have an opinion on it but you guys are definitely in the minority thinking it was cringe.
some people just age better lol
