@@anthonytaylor7928 Just my opinion. When the great bands from that era are discussed they're often overlooked. I realize they have some diehards out there that this doesn't apply to, I'm one of them. I just don't believe they get their due.
@@iamTW64 I agree wholeheartedly and can empathize with what you're saying. You have a valid point. War had a unique style and sound all their own. Grew up with this band. One of my favorites no doubt. Peace from the SF Bay Area Cali 2/23/24
You ain't gettin' Bud, you are old. Same as me Robo. I remember seeing this gig too and being big time impressed with what Don Cornelius had going on there. I used to watch the show religiously for a couple of years.
I was fortunate enough to see them live at their peak. Greatest concert ever. Even better than Earth Wind & Fire at their peak. RIP Charles, Dee, and BB
Yeah it's too bad ain't it. A shame. Nobody had cell phones back then, too bad. But for those of us that did see them back then we still have our memories. Cheers...
I've loved this song ever since it first came out but this is the first time I've heard a live version. To me one mark of a really great band is that they're just as good (or better) live as they are on their records. War is one of those really great bands. This is an awesome performance!
Disregard THE METERS, I have MANDRILL and WAR as my "go-to". As of now, my record collection goes north of 100K. I've heard them all but MANDRILL and WAR still are the two band that ties the rhythm from from around the world the best!
When my bro got out of prison he introduced me to War and Santana. Music at its peak. I saw Santana live a few times but never saw War. I envy anyone who had seen them back then. My brother used to call them "sounds of the streets " bands !
Sounds of the streets is truly what those two bands were for sure. This music was for regular folks not those uptown posers that got into all the "Glam" shit....
This song was my introduction to War (back in the 70's) and it remains a timeless jam.
Classic this tune.... It was a MONSTER when it came out...
So underappreciated! We don't talk about War nearly enough! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Some of us still remember and love this Band. Cheers.
No they are not why people say that about great bands explain how ?

Wow...altogether.....wow. this is music. No atuo tune. No machines. Music..wow
LOL.... Yep we had a lot better music back then, real music. Not compressed, robotic or lame.... Cheers....
How can they sit and listen to this without bopping their heads……unbelievable❗️
They're stoned... LOL
That harmonica intro had EVERY RIGHT to be that sizzlin'.
Hot damn 🔥
Ain't that the truth. Cheers...
Man, this shit is tight. One of my favorites growing up.
Big time tight. These guys had some incredible music. Cheers.
My brother just passed away this was his favorite song, I can see him dancing on Broadway
Great tune to dance to this one... My condolences. I'm sure he is...
So very sorry for your loss. He surely is getting down on this!
This is thee music we all know and love. It's more than Old School. It's The Real School.
For sure it's the real deal as you say Mel. Cheers.
I think the word is "timeless" as is all great music.
Soul deep groove for the ages.
This is one of their best songs.
Yeah these guys had 3 or 4 really good songs. The rest, meh... But I really like the ones I do like. They be special.....
No doubt
I was 10 in 1972 but my brother was older and played all this good 🎵🎵🎵🎶...
Any age was the right age to listen to this music Arthur. 10 huh, I was 23.... Cheers.
Peace to all your family. Respect!
I loved having older brothers! They exposed me to so much cool music (and I was always borrowing their records, usually without permission). 😉
OK. This performance is just sick!!!! I'm glad I was raised during a time where we had real musicians and real music
Me too Momo... 55 to 75 my fav years in music. And the 60s had my fav people....
No fn joke!!!
Yes,,,the best,slipped ever
Amen brother, preach it. I'm an old school music junkie. I gotta have it daily !!
I had the 8 track back then.
War was unmatched! 🎶RIP Dee✨
They had some MONSTER tunes to their credit. Great tunes....
I forgot how great their vocal harmonies were.
Absolutely.....
check out 4 Cornered Room, awesome harmony
@@reggiedean615 great track
Ain't nothin like the real thing
Words to live by.....
Great year for War….I still listen to ‘The World is a Ghetto’ ….What a cool harmonica player .
Yeah I always liked War's Harmonica player. I'm a big harp fan. I saw a lot of the great ones over the years.

Super Duper band these guys. They had some incredible music.
Saw them in 73 at Stadium Armory in D.C. They turned it out. Plus, that was the 1st (but no last time, I'd been in a stampede! Crazy!,
Did you see them with Eric Burdon or after?
@@jaguarguy67 Their peak was 1976 then they fell off. They blew Ohio Players off the stage
💜
What an awesome band! Wish they were more live videos of this line up of the group.
Yeah it's too bad ain't it. A shame. Nobody had cell phones back then, too bad. But for those of us that did see them back then we still have our memories. Cheers...
Slipping in to Darkness was hot water cornbread funk
It's just good old rock & roll to me. Geez I don't think we even used the word funk back then... No matter, super cool music is what it is.... Cheers.

I very much prefer seeing an artist live than listening to a recording. You get to see their chops and not some recording studio engineers talent...
@@BobbyGass5 True!
Make Funk Great Again 🎶 😊
Funk? We just called it Rock back then. James Brown, now he was funk.
This is best slippen,,listen how tight,,,oh their vocals power
Without question an incredible tune.
The drummer playing no games
No he's not.
Absolutely correct. I was stairing at him long before the camera zoomed in on him.
Mr Harold Brown on drums!!!
Three of the War guys played a concert for LTV cox access show. I was happy to be in the audience.
Any live show is a great show to be part of the audience Sak. To get to see some legends is icing on the cake.

War is Funky for you❤
For everybody.
Bob Marley & The Wailers got their “Get Up Stand Up” riff from this, great song..
Hi Thomas. Well I'll be a sonofagun. The Wailers Plagiarists? Who'd a thunk.
Could ya be loved.
That's wot im gettin in my lugs.

Super duper cool this tune live...
WAR!
"War, what is it good for" lyrics to stand by....
You go BILLY!!!!
I'll bet he does....
Also, is there a full concert video out there? Hard to believe this was over 50 years ago..
Probably a full concert video someplace, I wouldn't know where though.. . What's hard to believe about it, music was way better back then....
Harder my believing it’s 1/2 a century old..
"Suicide Squad" and " Raising Kanan"!!❤ Love them and tunes!!❤
Too Cool. Cheers.
Any idea what kind of keyboard that is? I hear modern ones still can’t get that exact sound..
Sorry Adam I've no idea. I'm no musician, just a listener.
Straight coke.. no chaser. . The 70s.
Straight up dope this shit. Too cool for school....
Colin Kaepernick plays the harp?
The guys good who ever he is... Cheers.
This music did away with Motown (no shade)
Yeah they cost Barry Gordy a fortune....
