    I may have told this one before, I can’t remember, lol… Luther Allison lived in my hometown Madison Wisconsin, and he played small venues around town all the time. I thought he was a local musician, not known elsewhere. Well in those days - because of our proximity to Chicago, we would get great Chicago blues artists coming to town all the time to play in a local bar 4 blocks away from where I was living. I saw people like Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, etc, play there, and it typically cost about 10 bucks - this was in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s I’d say. Your story that you tell about meeting Howlin’ Wolf is very similar to a story where I sat next to Junior Wells at the bar between sets. But I couldn’t buy him a drink because the bar was already providing for him. He was a sharp looking guy, well dressed. It was very cool.. boy those were the good old days for the blues. It’s not like that anymore..

    • @BobbyGass5
      @BobbyGass5 15 часов назад

      @@TomCwimpRock Some of those old blue's guys dressed incredibly sharp and Junior was one them. Silk suits, silk shirts and a diamond stick pin when I seen him. Lafayette Leake with the Chicago All Stars was the sharpest I ever saw. Willie Dixon and Hound Dog Taylor were other guys that dressed real sharp. I remember a full length Cashmere coat Dixon wore one winter. It must of been worth thousands. Small bars are my favourite blues venues and you were real lucky to have one of them around Thomas. Very cool...

    The xylophone proved once & for all that piano is percussion, not strings. Otherwise they'd still be arguing about it. Before learning to play xylophone & negotiate those tooth gaps, just the word 'xylophone' tells the xylophonist that he'll need a long reach, like WC Fields playing a dentist.

      Yeah Ronnie's a pistol. Gregarious and loud. I spent an hour and a half with him one time when I ran a Jesse Winchester gig. The Hawk was visiting Jesse to say hi along with Gordy Lightfoot, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Ian and Sylvia and other celebs in the hotel suite I had for Jesse and his band. What a party we had. I couldn't get the band on stage and they were an hour and a half late to the stage because we partied real hard. LOL... When the Pot came out Ian and Sylvia left immediately. They didn't wanna harm their squeaky clean image. LOL

    Jesus Christ...Nice haul man. What is the Gents YT channel if he announces his yard sales. I more personable yard-sale versus a Record 'meet'. They are just too big for me to get around. You're looking good man, Hope you're doing well

      Looking Good? Revisit "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde.... Yard sales bug my ass when somebody gets to a pile of records before I do... I just know their gonna score a record I want for real cheap. LOL

    Oddly enough, 89.5 is the NPR...National Public Radio....station nearest me. It's in Johnson City, TN and is a university based station, WETS, East Tennessee State University. Your CIUT is also a university based station, University of Toronto Campus and Community Radio, 89.5. The Sound of Your City Is there a little bit of synchronicity going on there in Toronto, Bobby? You aren't going "Shaman" on us are you? You know, doing dances and smoking "stuff" and seeing inspired visions. Those were "the good old days" when you could actually go to the pen for years for one little seed! Absolute insanity, that was. Ok, let me finish your video!

      Great voice but no grit in the voice as you say Steve. He had a rough life I'm surprised his demeaner sound wise never showed it....
