Hi Alex I'm an undergrad applied math major. Yesterday I made a vow to myself to create a better life for my family. I will do whatever it takes to become an effective data analyst. I'm a new sub, and I will use your channel and wisdom to gain valuable advice and insights in this career. To the future. Edit: Thank You 💪
Crazy timing! I recently spoke to John for some advice in my career path and now the video. Good stuff as always Alex would love to see more interviews like this in the future. 👍
That's so cool! We've gotten to know each other well over the past few months as we have talked about video ideas and growing our channels. He's a great guy! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks Alex The Analyst!!! Great interview!!! Please get more intresting interviews to help us understand what are the "real analytic needs" of medium and small companies ...... were consulting mostly applies as big companies have dedicated teams. Asparagus ;)
Awesome video Alex, this was just the thing I was looking for. I am very keen about Analytics Consulting and this video provides such good value to people like us who want to break into this field. Also, wonderful thing you are doing with this channel, great content. Thankyou.
Brilliant video as always. Quick question, if I'm completely soulless and just want the industries within data analysis/science that pay most, what would I pick (asking for a soulless friend)
But even within a company, higher profit areas generally pay better. Stay out of customer service (where I am now lol) - its generally seen as a money-loser and so is given lower salaries. Look at marketing or another income-earning area. My last job, I was in the underwriting department and we were well paid.
Added to watch later playlist to listen to before the end of the day. Just a quick question here: Over the course of building a portfolio project, what are the most common questions that need to be answered in any dataset? Since most of the times, a business background/knowledge is needed to raise the possible issues or even come up with these questions. I'm not sure if it's covered in your previous interviews, since I haven't gone through all of them.
I have done BTech (2018).I have 2 year gap and I'm new at data analytics.i would like to enter in Data analytics field.what should I do and where should I start?
I would look into some Certifications. I have a video on that talking about some certifications I recommend. I also have another video I just posted 2 days that walks through the skills you need. I think those 2 topics are really important for where you’re at now.
Very insightful but also entertaining! I enjoy this video so much! and hope to continue seeing your videos. Unfortunately I have never eat asparagus LOL 😂
Asparagus! Im surprised he is 31 years old!, IU feel old and way behind on my carrer now 😓😓😓😓... how old are you alex?? On a more profesional side, it was really nice to listen someone else´s experience, wich is kinda opposite that yours... it gives more pespective on the different paths you can take as a data analyst... I realized actually beeing a data analyst has a lot of different ways to follow, or specilaties.
Hey Alex , how to format an integer in SQL? Example, in the column of Sales it's written 10000 without any comma seperator, Is there any way I can format it so that it would look 10,000 with a comma ? Thank you so much in advance:)
I hear you! I have over 100 videos in my queue to make at the moment. I plan on getting to all of it, but takes time unfortunately. Thanks for watching! I'll definitely be making those videos in the near future!
Great to hear! Yeah super sorry about that... RUclips automatically goes in and places ads throughout the video and they are like 3-4 minutes apart which I hate. I normally go in and take out 3/4ths of them. I totally forgot to do that with this one. I have just made the change so others won't have that problem. Thanks for letting me know!
I feel like this video is what seeded the idea of consulting on Alex's mind. Then this other video ruclips.net/video/aofB2t5o2ao/видео.htmlsi=FaDTEVjkRK4XrmJ6 is the sequel to this original one. Consulting is #Goals

Thank you Alex and John for your wisdom and time. To paraphrase Dr.
Károly Zsolnai-Fehér, "What a time to be alive!"
Garlic roasted 'asparagus'.

Brilliant video as always. Quick question, if I'm completely soulless and just want the industries within data analysis/science that pay most, what would I pick (asking for a soulless friend)
:D Your soulless friend can look into Finance, Healthcare, Banking, and Tech for some really good paying industries (just to name a few)
But even within a company, higher profit areas generally pay better. Stay out of customer service (where I am now lol) - its generally seen as a money-loser and so is given lower salaries. Look at marketing or another income-earning area. My last job, I was in the underwriting department and we were well paid.
Should i start with MySQL first or python ??
Added to watch later playlist to listen to before the end of the day.

Edit: Asparagus

Can you do a sample project that shows what goes on in the daily life of a data analyst??
I definitely will be doing this! Thanks for the suggestion! 😁
@@AlexTheAnalyst like Keith Galli.... I believe that will be valuable for us and will fetch better user engagement for longer time
Two years later, have you started your course creation?
Can you make a quick review video on applied data science course with python specialization by university of Michigan on coursera.
Alex , can u pls add timestamps in ur upcoming vids ?
I was thinking about when this would happen - and it happens!
Haha only a matter of time!
ASPARAGUS!!!
Asparagus ... but I'm waiting some different content. Advanced and portfolio series :)
I hear you! I have over 100 videos in my queue to make at the moment. I plan on getting to all of it, but takes time unfortunately. Thanks for watching! I'll definitely be making those videos in the near future!
Asparagus. Very interesting
Informative and insightful as always. However, there's way too many ads man. Reel it back.

Fun interview… asparagus
Saw an asparagus with a flat tire, as I drove by I heard him mutter, "I should have a spare, I guess."
Asparagus!! 🫶🫶

Can you become a data scientist without having a degree?
Very difficult, but it is possible.

Asparagus!😊
40:57 - haha I need such customers. Having the perfect data an then just being paid for putting charts on top? lol
Personally, I find Linkedin learning courses very shallow compared to other e-learning platforms like coursera
Definitely could be - I haven't done many myself
Asparagus + 🦐 = 😋
Can't beat that combo!
