      @@ThelmaThelma-fd6kn I mostly settle for imported durian flavor candy, Chun Guang made in China. It smells and tastes like the real thing, and it's cheap. It's got an onion/garlic note, a sulfury note, and an overwhelming custardy creamy sweetness that satisfies something deep inside. It's like durian is some kind of medicinal fruit or something. Maybe it has certain minerals the body needs? Anyway, it really is the king of fruits. And it seems like we Americans who love durian are in a special club, haha.

      I think these are the ones that the wholesaler can't sell because they're too small, shaped weird, or even the wrong color.
      So they sell them like this
      Just a guess since I've seen strawberry wholesalers do something similar. And I don't think there's any shortage of demand for durian

    Earlier this year, I ordered freeze dried durian-thanks to your channel!- because I know it'll never be available fresh in my area. I was neutral toward it: I could appreciate the sweetness, but the rotten onion funk never dissipated for me. I think it would take a lot of time and exposure for me to truly gain a craving for it. But I'm really glad I got to try it, and it's a very interesting fruit!

      It would be best if you tried a fresh durian to truly appreciate its taste. I love durian, but I will never try a freeze-dried one. There are a few Asian stores here that carry fresh frozen whole Monthong durian. It is so good! One day I want to try Musang King.
      Here’s a tip for first time durian eating. Do not concentrate on the smell. Instead, focus on the sweetness of the fruit. The main reasons some people don’t like it are the smell, and the texture, but it’s soft like a custard or a pudding.

    • @Andrew.TYP_Msia
      @Andrew.TYP_Msia 2 месяца назад +3

      @@lindawolffkashmir2768 Yes I don't undersand why people have a problem with the texture... it's just soft and creamy like ice cream. LOL I have not tried Monthong, but I am very sure you will absolutely love our Musang King. In fact, if you come to Malaysia, there are so many different varieties which you can try, each has their own unique tastes. I personally do not like the sweet durian... I prefer the bitter sweet ones. There is a depth of flavour with these.

Like a much more pleasant version of oud perfume, and a little hint of armpit but in a non-disgusting way 😹
    Even blue cheese which people claim to smell like feet... I love blue cheeses and they just smell strong of a wee bit of armpit too but not in a disgusting way.
    But the Japanese natto, that I can attest that it does smell like smelly feet, smelly groin, and two-week old used unwashed undies 😹

    I totally get why it's a Love it or leave it fruit, just like Cilantro has a love-hate relationship with some people.

    I notice that the vendors smell the fruit when they first cut it open: perhaps they can tell how ripe the fruit is by its smell? And perhaps they're so used to it the general smell of the fruit doesn't overwhelm them, so that they can pick up differences in the aroma. I always know when my Oriental superstore has durian in, because, no matter where they put it, the smell permeates the whole building!

    from the title, i can asure that the stall owner profiting BIG. its near impossible to any human being to be able to eat many durians in one sitting. so the gimmick of all u can eat is mostly "eat 1 and a half durian for expensive price"
