I absolutely love Melina. One of my favorite FromSoft characters. It changed everything when they added those icons that remind you to talk to her when she has something new to say.
One other thing. It is said the Gloam-eyed queen was defeated but is it ever metioned she's dead? I have two theories: 1. Melina is the daughter of the gloam-eyed queen, or 2. The power of the queen was sealed inside here after the queen was defeated by Marika/Malileth....
@@MrCacheo that wouldn’t make much sense, with the fact that A) Marika is a god, and the point of the Gloam eyed queen, the person who led the godskins that seek to kill the gods, was exactly that, B) the Gloam eyed queen was defeated by Malekith when they came for Destined Death, and Malekith is the shadow bound beast of Marika, C) Marika is the one who gave Malekith destined death to guard, and because he is bound to her will, he’d have to return it if she ever demanded it be given back, and D) Marina’s soul ascends to full godhood as seen by the existence of the Elden Beast. I one hundred percent believe we the player die when choosing the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending. We see ourselves die grabbing at our eyes just like we see others die when afflicted. Then our freshly dead corpse is used as a vessel for this fledgling outer god. We already know the chaos of the frenzied flame can swap bodies like a hermit crab.
@@modernhiendai Not sure what your question is getting at. "Lord" as in "Lord of Frenzied Flame" or "Elden Lord" here appear to just be titles for whoever takes the place of marika/radagon.

As far as I know, Melina is the reincarnation of the Gloam-eyed Queen which was the creator and owner of the Black Flame. She was killed by Maliketh and her flame sealed and so Maliketh became the guardian of the Destined Death. When Ranni died, the soul of the Gloam-eyed Queen returned as Melina. If Melina is the Gloam-eyed Queen then that explains why she can control the power of the Gigant's flame and why she wants to deliver Destined Death to the Lord of Chaos
Do you ever wonder why she seeks you, a maidenless tarnish, gives you the power of runes, a good boi horse, takes you the mountain top, just so she can burn herself up? I think the fire had something to do with opening her gloom eye. Maybe radagon sealed the tree and her powers or something. And she needed us to steal Destined Death back and burn the tree down. Melina played us hard! - marzzattak
I figured it was Marika that does all these things. Somehow she took the GEQ, took her power, and made her into her loyal Golden Order loving daughter. Marika is terrifying.
I don't see a reason not to believe Melina when she says, as you ascend to the Giants' Forge, that despite her earlier actions being a result of compulsion her mother, Marika, put into her upon creation, the sacrifice she makes as kindling is her own. She sees the vision of a better world, fixed from its broken state, and believes in you as its Lord. The only time she wants nothing to do with you is the Frenzied Flame ending, because that choice simbolizes the destruction of everything living in the past, present and the future . And I don't think it is a coincidence that the seal on her eye that opens is a depiction of three fingers. It's possible that whatever powers she gains to oppose the Lord of Frenzied Flame are a contingency put in place by Marika for just such an occasion.
I wish more people were like you. Caring about the lore and getting immersed into the world and the story. I loved watching your videos with reactions to bosses, dialogue, locations, soundtracks etc. because you were just as excited as me when I first played it! You're one of the very few that plays the game like this as most people just scream, rage and never know anything about what's going on. You're amazing!
Def think it’s like Marika and Radagon, remember Marika destroyed the rune and Radagon fixed it. They seem to have separate consciences and their own agendas. Ranni also not having a body and Melina being the same is another similarity they share amongst all of the others. Ranni and Melina have to be connected, just like the girl you save with the golden needle who is an offshoot of Melania. We need more story!
Maybe Melina is the daughter of the Gloam Eyed Queen and Marika/Radagon. All of the Black Knives were Numen, and so was Marika, and she does move like one of them. So maybe something there.
This is probably the most interesting ending, and the one that could lead to an interesting sequel. Regarding Torrent's ring: Melina originally pulls the ring out of nowhere, as if the ring's physical manifestation is an extension of Melina's spirit. Originally I thought the ring melted, but upon reflection I think what's happening is Melina is reabsorbing the ring into herself.
Weren’t the events Gloam Eyed Queen (GEQ) before Ranni’s birth? We know that the GEQ was defeated before the creation of the Golden Order as the GEQ used destined death before it was removed from the Elden Ring and sealed away as and since “The Golden Order was created by confining Destined Death” that’d place these events before the creation of the Golden Order and therefore Godwyn the first Demi-god’s birth? Did I get something wrong?
So it's like 99.99999% sure that Marika is Melinas mother but how does the Gloam Eyed Queen fit in there tho? I don't think we have a lot on their relationship at all, we know the GEQ is an Empyrean, which sorta kinda loosely links her to Marika, potentially being one of her or Radagons and Rennalas children, which would make more sense considering all the similarities Melina has with Ranni. The GEQ and the Apostles slay gods, we don't know why or what their actual goal with this is but despite them being god slayers, they've apparently never moved against the Greater Will (and tbf other gods aren't mentioned either, at least not by name) and I wonder why but I might have an idea. You've mentioned the 3 finger claw mark on her eye and I'm actually embarrassed that it took me so long to see it as that but, if Melina is actually the GEQ and therefore the daughter of Marika, all of this starts to make a bit of sense. Let's quickly establish that the Frenzied Flame is the direct opposite to the Golden Order in every way. Also, interestingly enough, her 3 finger mark disappears when CHAOS TAKES THE WORLD and shit, which makes me believe the mark exists to seal the GEQ away, possibly out of self defense from her god slaying abilities, which would also explain why Maliketh defeated her and took whatever power she had from the Rune of Death. With all of this in mind, let me throw out a theory. What if the Greater Will and the Frenzied Flame are also a 2 entities in one body type situation like Marika and Radagon but now separated, which is supported by the fact that there's a 3 finger vassal of the Frenzied Flame and obviously the 2 finger vassals of the Greater Will, which regardless of if this theory is true or not, is a pretty strong connection with no hint of what it actually means. What if the Greater Will somehow impregnated Marika, then gave birth to the GEQ (which sounds like a possible way to create an Empyrean even tho we're not 100% on the specifics), the Greater Will then brands her with this mark, seals the GEQ away and turns her into Melina. Whenever chaos unleashes, the 3 finger seal dissapears, awakening the GEQ again to fight the Frenzied Flame, who is an Outer God and since she's a god slayer, that task should be right up her all alley so that the Greater Will can resume control with the Golden Order and kill this other side of itself. She basically solely exists for this purpose, the purpose her mother gave her inside the Erdtree. The mother doesn't have to be Marika, she never definitively states that Marika is her mother and she talks a whole fucking lot about her throughout the entire game and I feel like Melinas wording when she talks about her mother is important. There's a small chance that the mother she referes to is the Greater Will and even if Marika is her mother, you could still make this theory work considering Marika wasn't always opposed to the Greater Will. There also seems to be a power struggle between the Outer Gods, which would make the GEQ a great tool to get the upper hand on them. I know we're making kids with 2 "mothers" here but that wouldn't be weirdest thing you heard from this game lmao. The only piece missing is literally any piece of in-game lore on the relation of the 2 and 3 fingered vassals. Obviously, if you'd combine them, they'd make a hand and I don't think it's coincidence that there's a 3 fingered counterpart to the 2 fingers, the chaos boys even have their own Fingermaidens too. You don't hear any of that about the other Outer Gods. I hope I somehow managed to make this somewhat understandable lmao.
