One thing that Elden Ring got right was the dragon fights. They did a good job with making them hella intimidating and epic, but not so beefy it takes an hour to wittle them down lol
IIRC the remembrance is potentially mistranslated and Placidusax was an ancient lord, not capital letters Elden Lord. Very good catch with the fingers thing, I never noticed. Anyway one of the most beautiful fights in the game, you didn’t get the Midir Laser PTSD since you managed to stay at melee range, but you got the music-stopping nuke which is cooler and rarer.
I think it could still work in a sense. You could say Placidusax wasn’t literally Elden Lord like Godfrey, in his case the chosen champion of Marika and the Greater Will, but instead an ancient equivalent of Elden Lord, the chosen champion of whatever god the ancient dragons served.
I interpreted the translation as him being an Elden Lord before even the Elden Ring existed-sense it was during the time before the Erdtree. Just goes to show that there's more rules than just the one's we're aware.
I played Elden Ring with a Randomizer recently, and I got this boss in Limgrave, at the lake, where the 'regular' first dragon lands. I was maybe Level 8 or 9 when I saw that. The fun part was that he was NOT scaled to be in Limgrave, took me until around Level 60 to beat him (and I also had a Kindred Black Blade next to the Church of Elleh).
Good thing she managed to kill him before he vanished and came back down spewing flames and then transitions into freaking laser beams, he does that after he drops below 30% hp. That's probably his scariest attack.
Werid how we go back in time to fight this but it's head is cut off leaving 2, comparing it to the the 2 fingers is interesting, I wonder I the the 3 fingers have anything related

This is a being who in order to interact with you have to exit your timeline and enter a strange pocket of non-time where an immortal dragon being waits eternally for the return of its god, meaning it never came back. Its some weird paradox because if the god of the dragons ever returned it would have already because time doesnt exist in the storm so no matter "how long" it would take doesnt matter. So even wierder is that when you go meet with placidusax and fight him he has technically both just started waiting, and been waiting an eternity simultaneously. But even crazier is that if placidusax ever decided to stop waiting because the god hadn't arrived he would miss the arrival of the god so he had to just wait

The god the dragons served is not named anywhere in the game but it seems likely that this outer god's influence was removed from the world when the Greater Will and its Golden Order took over.
Awww I’m sad that you didn’t get to see his ultimate attack because you staggered him when you got him low on hp. You should watch his fight online to see that attack. He’s got three heads missing by the way so originally he was a five headed dragon. I couldn’t imagine dealing with his ultimate attack when he has five heads haha. Loved your reaction friend. ✌🏻
Pity you killed him so quick on attempt 2. There's another attack he does thats rather epic. This was one of my favorite bosses, however I feel the devs could have done better on the detailing for the model. It has the unfortunate look of being overscaled.
You were lucky he didn't attack you from a distance with the laser beam crossed by both mouths....before defeating him I died at least 4 times. Then I learned his moves.

I got a theory about the 3rd head that is missing. You mentioned a possibility of the dragon being grafted. i would bet the "truest of dragons" that godrick has is the missing head he uses in his second phase.
He originally had 5 heads looking at his 3d model- he is missing 3 heads. And there are three named ancient dragons outside of him (Lansseax, Fortissax, Gransax) so who knows what happened to these missing heads ;). In addition, looking at the Old Lord Talisman he has 4 heads instead of 5.
Aww, this is the only boss it feels like you spoiled for yourself :( So many other bosses you died on purpose, or kept them alive on low health so you could take in their full moveset/music/general design. I'm sure you're aware by now how cool his second phase is, but it's still a shame watching someone just nuke him so fast and miss out on how awesome he is!
I was thinking on the connection of this boss with frenzy flame, if you kill him the world no need to be clean anymore, and the fact that he have the pose at the two finger now make me think that probably he his the greater will that command the world
I believe in canon Placudisax was like the two fingers until the greater will took over and created the Elden Beast,so we essentially kill a Dragon God
I'm noticing a trend that magic users don't tend to see the epic lightshow attack, unfortunately. Their damage is simply too bursty and they just go from mid-range to 0 before he can do the animation into it. Hope someone at least told her about it so she could look it up.
The dragons have no connection with the fingers or the grater will just like scarlet rot and astell who both have an outer god theirs multiple different outer gods black flame ,fire giants ,scarlet rot, dragon, golden order/erdtree, death, blood, sleep, frost, gravity, glint stone, grater will, many many possibilities
Hey this dragon is one of the difficult bosses in the game and u just cheesed it. Frankly i felt the dragon was less aggressive in ur gameplay. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 But then u had a nice technique of moving after a strike and striking again in the back at a different place.
he used to serve the greater will as elden lord, and he was abandoned by his god so it makes sense that he'd listening out for a sign from one of them. Just like the fingers were listening for the greater will

If any attack should be a guaranteed oneshot in a Souls game, I would honestly be okay with the lightning nuke being that attack.

It was confirmed that in japanese it says Elden Lord, its not a mistranslation.
The Japanese literally calls him a "Lord/King of Eld."

it's the ashes of war, they often do too much damage for the fp they use.
