Excellent mashup! The perfect blend of old and new! Also, for those of you who didn't know: in "The Fire Of Prometheus" novella, it is revealed that P-33 (or Beepy, as Kalil affectionately called him) is the one that caused the Machines to gain consciousness! An obscure fun fact I felt I had to mention since the thumbnail shows P-33 and a stubby and most people don't know they're actually connected!
The best part was that this story started in a set of novella's in the Drakengard 10th anniversery collection for Drakengard 3. So a critical emotional connection between Nier and Nier Automata, the thing that helps make the plot what it is with machines being sentient, was originally found in a set of stories in a collector's edition for a completely different universe.
I've seen many people trying to mix NieR OST and sadly failing as these tracks are so good by them self, that it's quite hard to not take away their individual charm but you good sir are creating greatness. Ever since Fleeting Shadows I am genuinely hoping for another mashup as you understand the song and make them feel more like a duette instead of just putting two tracks into one
This mashup perfectly showcases how this Automata song is a "sequel" to a corresponding Replicant song Hopefully more mashups can be made to visualize just how similar the songs between the two games are
Emi Evans' performance on Nier's tracks always makes me emotional, I love these games and I love these soundtracks and I appreciate the work of everyone involved in it, just amazing video games and art pieces. Now I also have you to thank for the amazing mashup. Thank you Jonathan!
I think the issue is that the term mashup is technically correct, but it has become more recognized of it being multiple (as in, more than two) songs chained together, and the term remix is also correct but nowadays understood as something more transformative... If I had to give it a name, I'd say this is more of a "duet/blend", the first one having some interesting implications since the vocals play a major role here. But this is something I just came up with on the spot, and I wouldn't pretend to make your job better than yourself. Naming things is one of my Aquiles' Heel after all Edit: I just had a fleeting idea. Would it be correct to call it an "orchestration" as well? Food for thought...

Im going to have to ask for that platinum Fallen Elmaik with a huge pepe and incrusted diamonds back, the one I awarded you for outstanding achievement in the field of musical excellence last year. That award seems insufficient due to the sheer magnificence of this masterpiece. I shall have more jewels and precious metals added, forgive me.

Very nice and interesting mashup! It sometimes feels like there are parts that oppose each other or rival to be the main part, which for me causes some tension. But not necessarily in a negative way. I can't really describe it haha. But I think it does make my favorite part feel all the more satisfying and surprising, as at around 4:43 they suddenly work together and harmonize as one ^^ Also I'm excited to hear a new video essay is coming up, hopefully about one of these/another NieR track (But I'm not gonna be disappointed if not)
I love this so much, I played automata before the replicant remake, and going through the junk heap felt like seeing the start of what would become automata, and wretched automatons felt like a song that would fit perfectly in automata, it probably served as inspiration for the soundtrack as a whole, love to hear these two songs as a single piece
