- Today we have a build for the Alien and the Predator in Dungeons & Dragons! Which build is scarier, the monster slinking through vents to ambush it's prey, or the dedicated hunter with all the technology you can get in D&D 5e?

DM: “Okay what’s your backstory?”
Me: I’m an alien monster here with the sole purpose of finding and killing the biggest, most dangerous, hardest to kill thing on the planet.
DM: That... That’s the Tarrasque
"Did I stutter?"
you: it’s a legal build!
DM: really?
DM: (look at that character sheet) I guess it is apparently
@@zEr-ne5ri except not rly. Uses a lot of ua
@@torunsmok5890 but the book comes out in two weeks! so shut up heather!
I mean, it could actually be a decent motivation. As long as your character isn't stupid, they'll know that they aren't strong enough to kill a Tarasque (yet) - so everything they do will be in favour of getting stronger and more skilled aka. levelling up. There are worse backgrounds than "training to one day slay the deadliest beast on earth".
Fun fact, the predators' species actually has a pretty strict honor system. A couple examples include:
-Targets considered "defenseless" such as kids and pregnant women and targets who's deaths would negatively impact said "defenseless" targets (such as physicians) are considered off limits (unless a facehugger got to them already, by which point it's practically a mercy).
-If a predator loses a one on one duel against you, they have to either give you one of their weapons (marking you as an honorary member of the species) or detonate the bomb as is the case with most failed hunts. Basically either say your opponent is that good, or be so petty that you ensure everyone dies.
absolutely!
as far as the targets thing, Tulok even used the clip from AVP of sparing that scientist because by looking at his chest he could see he was dying from a disease (cancer i think) and spared him.
(however did retaliate after the scientist attacks him)
there are various instances of yautja being allies with humans against the xenomorphs so they're not full stop going to kill every human they see.
It depends on the individual though.
In one of the novels, a yautja teamed up with a human but died, but before he did he 'blooded' her with his sigil as a hunter, which meant the next time she met more yautjas they had to welcome her to the next hunt.
Ah, so the "whoever wins, we lose" tagline was bulls**t.
@@kbowman772 kind of
Predators like hunting the xenomorphs and like using humans as cattle to breed them , but they can at least be reasoned with and form an alliance, there's different clans and stuff and they do different things.
@@DareMurdok That's not entirely true, the Yautja do actively hunt humans and often; unless there is a much greater threat (such as there being only one hunter remaining, they are not open to treaties or alliances. Machiko actually tried to make an alliance between a Yautja clan and the Marines, but they refused and unblooded her.
@@somethingclever1718 "alliance" might been the wrong phrasing, not official "alliances" like politically. but a hunter would team up with a human to fight xenomorphs or other creatures is what i mean.
Tulok: Lizardfolk is one of my favorite races and we've never used one before.
Garrus Vakarian: Am I a joke to you?
he is a bird not a lizard.

No, because then they gonna gate keep people they don't like out (anyone rejecting the cartoonishly far left to the point you'd swear it was a troll....think the type who think it's wrong to kill a lynch mob because you look white even if you're Hispanic)
My issue isn't who what they put in but who they keep out. It's either for every one (even those you don't like) or it's for no one. You preach against gate keeping? You preach against ALL gate keeping
One of these days you'll get around to stat'ing out one of the most terrifying masterminds of all time, Papa Smurf. He was able to forge together a weirdly homogenous tribe and lead them on a terror crusade against an innocent alchemist/ wizard that just wanted to be left alone with his pet cat familiar!
I like it.
Even tho said Alchemist/Wizard either wants to eat them, or turn them into gold.
@@thegloriouswizard5270 shhh you're messing up the propaganda

Actually I like the idea of having Gargamel in Dnd.
In honor of the double build, I think we should all double the algorithm output. Two views, two comments, etc. We can’t like the vid twice, but we can try to convince a friend to do so. Will be posting my second comment after finishing the vid.
Understood
sounds like a plan
"We can't like the vid twice"
Me: hacking the accounts of my siblings to like a second time
"we can't like twice"
My alts:we have 10 million clones on site and 100 million more on the way
All I need is a good reason to watch a long video twice.
Double the effort, double the love, double the suggestions:
- Dedede, because the Beeg Bird can fly and swing a hammer.
- Uncle Iroh, becuase brewing tea and eating roast duck should be a class to go with Draconic Sorcerer.
- Rambo, because we need a jungle guy who lives off setting traps, special forces and firing bullets like there's no tomorrow.
- Spawn, because we all want to be edgy hell revenants that have guns and chains.
Dammit I want Dedede as a Kenku Artificer
@@marmato9332 Tempting, I imagine him as an Aarakocra due to a flight of sorts.
Rambo is a pure ranger
My take on Dedede is Aarakocra Brute Fighter11/Vengeance Paladin 9. Notable features include
-Making your hammer deal damage that could be associated with all 5 elements from Star Allies.
-a buncha HP
-the most ridiculous crit I've ever seen (2d10+2d4+2d6+8d8+5)
-The ability to Haste himself.
-both Great Weapon Fighting and Dueling to deliver the goods whether you use one hand or two
-+12to hit with Magic Weapon or Elemental Weapon
-an average of 52 damage per round while Haste is active without factoring in Divine Smite
-lowest save is wisdom, and even then it's a +1 bolstered by a d6.
-Is Aarakocra. Can fly.
@@demi-femme4821 Sure, we get no suck and cuck tricks, but it pretty much covers the hammer and flight fields.
"...and if you've ripped their spine out you can switch it to another creature with a bonus action later."

"Krasis vs. Lizardfolk" still fits the meter. And makes for a fantastic mental image.

And now we have enough Tulok builds to do a horror movie campaign. Pennywise, Jason, Alien, and Predator
Just waiting for Michael Myers and Candyman personally
Can we get a Harry Dresden build for the BBEG?
Eh, Predator is really just an action flick with a different style of building suspense. It does add some much-needed versatility to that lineup of otherwise somewhat niche specializations, though.
Micheal Myers and Shaq from Shazam
Me: please let the predator be a lizardfolk...

Yeah, was pretty surprised he didn't go with that for the Xeno. This makes sense too I guess, but ehh.
what are you talking about? the xenompoh doesn't look like a lizardman anymore than it does a human.
@@benthomason3307 well, the Xenomorph is a roughly humanoid quadraped. So, it's more workable with the Simic Hybrid, especially with the Animal Enhancements and Beast Barbarian.
Honestly my first guess was Black Dragonborn for acid breath. Forgot Hybrids get that too
@@pyron5277 Black dragonborn is basically perfect though.
totally forgot there were two builds and was suddenly really excited about halfway through
The Alien and Predator are an iconic pair of enemies, but I'd argue that even more iconic is the feud between Anderson Cooper and biased and unbalanced news reporting! You don't even need to make a double video for that one cause we all know Anderson is the better combatant! I think we'd all love to see that video though.
Give it to him already, cause he is on every video
Maybe you need to go back to shool
Considering recent tweets, the misspelling seems intentional. Henry Jones, maybe?
MEGAMIND!?
and I say we should get Alice Cooper as a bard build.
These are really on point.
I remember your Dead Rising Let's Plays! Haven't seen you in ages!
The Alien having a weakness to banishment was a nice touch considering how many of the films end with them being blown into space.
As a huge predator fanboy, I can tell you that the shoulder cannon itself does not pump health juice into the predators, BUT their belts actually do so that's basically fine.

this is good! recommend this to others!

I need Tulok to get out of my head haha I was just talking about if you could do Predator in D&D
AND I just built a Simic Hybrid Barbarian
Can we get a Ripley build, preferably with Banishment to Blow xenomorphs out the god damned airlock?
After finishing the video, I am intrigued to see how these builds match up against each other. Will be running multiple trials in various environments this evening and report my findings.
I'm assuming this is serious and not a joke I don't understand so I'm dropping a comment here to get updated on the results.
I am serious. I have done a few tests so far, and current trends suggest that the predator build can only win through a combination of complex terrain and the application of tactical ingenuity relative to the respective intelligence scores.
My next step is to tweak the predator build a little bit, while still keeping the flavor accurate, namely changing the ranger subclass. Additionally, there were a few minor things unaccounted for in the build as given. Nothing huge, but enough to slightly decrease the build’s flexibility.
@@kingdomkey01 I'd say that's fairly accurate to the source material. Impressive.
It would be cool to basically say that the Predators build wins when hunting the xenomorph in a group 😎😎
I thought predator would be a gith. Tulok you’ve once again proved how much you think these through. Thanks for the special!
I know historical figures aren't normally built in this, but I would love to see, Blackbeard (Eddie Tetch) as a dnd character. I think there's enough myth surrounding him, that it would work.
"But I don't wanna phone it in and rush through the later levels. What am I, a designer for 5e?"
God I love your videos.
Alien build looks terrifying for my DM, I will use.
I love this page so much I swear. I'm sharing every video with everyone at this point
Different xenomorph breeds would have different focuses. The build presented here really strikes me as either the queen or predalien. But a scout or drone xeno would probably have a few rogue levels, for example. Excellent video Tulok!
Yea, I had expected some sort of rogue levels in both of them. But for predator it wouldn't trigger off the cannon (not a weapon attack, and not finesse)
"Nice scaleable NPC" I don't mind if I do
Hey guys want to fight a creepy-crawly this week
I am sure it will drive you up the walls
What builds are you personally interested in, Tulok?
Yeah
Ice climbers..
The most important question. I'd like to have a regular event where tulok picks, once a month or so.
I agree with this
I was under the impression a lot of his builds were personal picks. End of the day they're all gonna be characters somebody's heard of.
Oh woah thank you for the double build Tulok! I don't know much about Predator but I'm a big fan of Alien, so thank you again for this! I know this is the final build of this Halloween, so I'll refrain from thinking on too many spooky builds until next year.
Edit: LIZARDFOLK LETS GOOO

@@gamecavalier3230 Well, before the Artificer was officially published, there were two beta versions on U.A. (technicly three, but the first was a wizard subclass. There was also a cleric adaptation made by the creator of Eberron, but thats another story). The first version had two subclasses, the gunsmith, which Toluk has used in the past, and a very different version of the alchemist. The second version was much closer to the final design, and came to U.A. with 4 subclasses, the three that got published, plus the archivist, which has been reworked in a wizard subclass in a later U.A. The forth subclass is the only one made after the artificer was published, the armorer.
I intend to rework the checklist to clarify UA uses when I get the time, but for now all artificer versions are grouped toghether.

Wow i've...actually kinda been spot on with my Barbarian I've been running. I'm currently going a Path of the Beast that used to be a captain of an army in a campaign where the nation we're in got taken over by an empire, my character was captured as a sole survivor of the army and experimented on but I didn't know about Simic Hybrids, I went with a variant on Swiftstride Shifter lol.
Ohhh I love these! As a DM, I appreciate this a lot!
Indeed, time to turn d&d into a survival horror
Agreed. Definitely gave me ideas for a one-shot or mini campaign
I'm scared for your players. I wish them good luck
I must admit, using these as a DM is a really useful idea which I have never thought of doing. I'm such a fool.

Also, agreed. Lizardfolk are horrendously under appreciated.
wow, that predator build used my favorite race and my favorite class to do the kind of stuff I usually try to do with my characters, loved the whole video, but I'll probably use that predator build in a future campaign
Was the "I can't find evidence that aliens can swim" a joke about pretending Alien Resurrection doesn't exist, or have you actually not seen it?
I heard about that rumor. Man that'd be crazy if they ever did make Alien Resurrection. That would be like if Capcom made Devil May Cry 2
That's funny. Next you're going to tell me they made an Indiana Jones film with aliens and the kid from Even Stevens.
Man guys, thats almost as funny as those people saying that the last season of Game of Thrones was made, shame it got canceled lol
Lol you guys these are so bad, almost as bad as the idea of a live action AtLA movie!
Dude, could you imagine if they made an entirely cgi Berserk anime? Honestly, that sounds even worse than what you guys imagine could happen.
And thus we find the reason they send the Predators down in groups the Xenomorph hunt.
Well, no.
If you do some studying, Yaut'Ja actually hunt Xenomorphs to ascend into adulthood.
They do so in groups because Xenomorphs can propogate so quickly. Not because a Xenomorph is individually more powerful than a Yaut'Ja.
An A-team episode where you do the 4 of them to level 10 would be a cool episode.
Ooh, I'd love some team episodes! The characters themselves would be useful for introducing new players to shorter campaigns as well.
Duuuuuuude! Wow! Enjoyed the closing quote from the movie. Im so happy with the Predator build that Im not even going to mention my Conan: The Barbarian, Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1982 movie, special edition dvd with director commentary with additional insight into themes, character I would like for you to do one day.
“I don’t want to phone it in and rush through the later levels though, it’s not like I’m a designer of 5e.” Tulok, I knew you could be savage, but, that was just Brutal or like a Critical hit, maybe a Brutal Critical.

I wasn't ready for those big facts Tulok dropped at 13:21

For the Halloween special I wish you did Michael Myers (yes I know the build would be very similar to Jason) but I still love this, the Predator is an absolute badass and the xenomorph is also dope
Michael Meyers is much more of a Hexblade Bladelock mixed with a Vengeance Paladin. Throw the Tough feat in there too.
He only uses one weapon, he viciously hunts down one person before he goes to the next, and he can tank a point blank headshot.
I know it's currently UA (although soon to be published), but Armorer artificer seems to be more sufficient for the Predator. Especially if their armor is set to the infiltrator mode, greater invisibility also helps.
As for race, Filborgs seem to be quite fitting: they are powerful builds, quite high and have some innate stealth abilities. Alternatively, you could go for Dragonborn (Draconblood), they also fit into creepy alien theme, and get up to 17 intelligence at start.
Tulok: we are gonna do alien!
Me: you mean a slaad
I like how it went from ‘magical tinkering, *insert oh shit America is shit we took and killed everyone here before us here*’ to ‘space fire ball’
Lizardfolk was an excellent idea for Predator. Nifty double feature!
predator is the first artificer i've seen who has an in character use for magical tinkering.

As a side note for the future: Tulok, I never needed to know about your research.
Love the love for predator being a lizardfolk build. Lizardfolk and also a favorite race of mine, because they are some quirky boys when you play them right. I love when an uncommon race works for a build.
Great video all together too. I will play both of these guys when I have the chance
Has an ultramarine been done yet? If so I'd love to see how one might build an Astartes Space Marine build without power armor and bolter of course, or with if you wanna have fun

You know, ive been looking for a predator build for a while. now we got it. nice, and with the added benefit of getting the Xenomorph too! man, that is a gift that keeps on giving.
Have I missed something about Armblade? I thought it requires attunement by a warforged. I thought the only way around this way level 14 magic item savant that lets you ignore all class, race, spell, and level requirements.
You are indeed right my good man.
I also thought about this
I'd say level 17 Brute or Eldritch Knight Fighter and level 3 Armorer Artificer Lizardfolk for the Predator.
Standard Point Array:
15 STR
10 DEX
14 CON (16 after Racial ASI)
13 INT
12 WIS (13 after Racial ASI)
8 CHA
I'd start out as an Armorer Artificer. The obvious choice would be to go with the Infiltrator Plate Armor (though the Tankier Yaut' Ja would likely get the Guardian set, as I would as well) and get the Enhanced Armor (+1 AC) and Returning Weapon (+1 and instantly returns when thrown, no Free Action, Bonus Action or Main Action necessary)
The Fighting Styles is left up to the player as each Yaut' Ja is unique and different, but I would choose Mariner or Defense for the +1 AC, and personally, I'd just get both. Mariner at Level 1 and Defense at Level 10.
Level 4: +2 STR for 17 STR,
Level 6: +2 STR for 19 STR,
Level 8: +1 STR for 20 STR and +1 WIS for 14 WIS,
Level 12: +2 CON for 18 CON,
Level 14: Tough Feat,
Level 16: +2 CON for 20 CON.
At level 13 I can have either a 21 or 23 AC before I use Shield. and a maxed attack stat. The HP will easily smack into 170+.
I was expecting the Xenomorph to be a Lizardfolk with a few Draconic Sorcerer levels; was pleasantly suprised! Also very pleased with the Predator race.
heck yeah! We get to have a little Predator with our Alien... for a treat.
Lizardfolk BABYYY!
The moment you mentioned Predators using bones as tools I knew you were alluding to lizardfolk.
Probably my favorite video so far. Your jokes in this one were A1
2:50 - The Background in question is officially available only in an Adventure's League: Curse of Strahd. It's Phlan Insurgent.
Outlander could work too for Alien if you use DnD Beyond
You know what I think would be an interesting build? James Bond. I'm thinking a Rogue Assassin/Warlock build. He doesn't make his own gear, Q Branch does, so he gets his tools from a patron.
I was expecting the alien to have some rouge levels, i guess you wanna keep that with jason
I think these are two of the coolest-to-me builds you've done! My players are probably going to find themselves facing down both of these (at different times, I'm not a total monster! ... Though actually, now that I say that, making them face down an Alien-Predator teamup wooouuuld be pretty great and terrifying... hmmm, tempting....)
I love how this just confirmed my original build for a xenomorph lol.
Always appreciate the hard work you put into these builds!
That magical tinkering joke is esteem building. 👌🏽
Awesome video and an awesome gift to celebrate the spookiest popular holiday we have! Keep it up keep it going on!
Say you were a Teifling before your hybridization, with Obsidian skin and equally dark eyes, bald with sharp horns that curve down the side of your head and jut on each side beside your mouth. When you rage, your tail grows stiffer, longer and sharper. Pretty dope. Also, I know it's not RAW or RAI, but I'd let a Symic Hybrid have essentially Spider Climb from the off, meaning they can pcik the leap option when they rage for true pounce ability.
When it said Alien & Predator i thought he was gonna try an make a build that fit them both because they're weirdly stealthy powerhouses. I didn't think It could be done but Tulok has shocked me before.
YEAH! I remember recommending this a while back. Thanks so much, man.
I feel like the alien was made faaaaar too tanky, because we see them being blown away by a single gunshot, and shoulder cannon in the movies several times. But I think he mentioned that he's basing the build on a queen Alien and not a grunt which makes more sense.
Loved the video, Always enjoy seeing new creative builds
Yo tulok the barbarian, can you do a dark stalkers build, please.
1. Dimitri Maximoff
2. Felicia the cat women
3. Donavan the Hunter
13:20 I think we peaked behind the veil there Tulok - you okay?
2 builds in 1 video is amazing
I know what I'm playing if I ever get into another D&D game.
Lovely video.
Just in time for my halloween tradition, where I watch a classic horror flic. Now it's clear what I'm gonna watch this year.
Hope to see Ripley someday too. She’d be good as a Fighter (space marine) multiclassed with Artificer (engineer plus power armor). Great double video- I never would have guessed the Predators were Lizardfolk!
the maybe from the intro was missing, i can't go on with my life.
How did I miss that??
So I'm guessing that this basically amounts to one fairly easy build and one super-complicated build. Sounds fun! Plus a Predator could make for a pretty fun character in a more techy D&D setting.
