I really don’t understand how anyone could find the ship harder than the wave when the wave is over 5 times longer with fast speed changes and constant tight gameplay. The ship is hard for the first few attempts in practice but gets very consistent. I’m also really bad at ship (I can’t straight fly and find levels like Lit Fuse impossible)

i think the wave feels so much easier now because nobody knew how to use the wave at first. now, people can be wave carried as hell (slijee) and hard ship vs wave looks super different
Play the level on mobile 60fps before the +1 frame delay was removed and you will understand why the wave used to be considered the hardest part. Also people weren't used to effects affecting how well you could see the gameplay, even if now its basically expected that deco and effects will make gameplay harder to see.
I’m was a 60hz mobile player when I beat nine circles. It took me over 2k attempts to get consistent at the wave and like 500 attempts to get consistent at everything else

nine circles invented both decoration style and gameplay style. its 2 different things at the same time and both a very beginner friendly when it comes to making it. thats pretty insane honestly. also if you make nine circles level and you loop colors that will suck. you gotta make the pulse sync to the music at least for nowdays standarts. nine circles levels that dont sync the music should never be rated anymore
I kinda like how this level used one of the worst parts of one of the worst NIGHTkilla songs, so other creators like MkComic or Softable could improve the song aspect too. I like how it's easy to split the wave into sections even though it looks the same most of the way through. Getting past the 2nd or 3rd part is definitely satisfying and good pacing. However, 1.9 jank did bring this level down for me. I died to the transition into the last cube a few times which kinda sucked, but never had an issue with learning it or playing it aside from maybe 95. I agree that the ship is very difficult. ~40% pass rate and the ball has a few annoying bugs. Overall the Nine Circles trend is a good thing though. It's probably the reason most players are good at wave, since Silhouette and Jawbreaker are basically glorified wave practice, forcing you to be consistent at wave
The ship and ball torture seems harder, because these parts stand before the wave, making you get to the hardest part of the level (with HARD beginning btw) once a year. And yes, i did die to beginning cube sometimes, because I've gone mad and/or lost concentration. Still less attempts than Figures tho, screw Figures!
I think nine circles, gameplay wise, is balanced almost perfectly. The notion that levels should be perfectly balanced is IMO cringe. You start off with a very straight forward cube part, then youre unexpectedly thrown into the two super difficult ship and ball sections, then the climax of the level - the wave - isnt that hard on its own, which people take in two ways: either it becomes difficult due to nerves and tension, or youre left there to enjoy the great gameplay of the wave part if you're good enough for it to not cause you trouble. And the final cube is just cherry on the top. On its own the timings are somewhat difficult, but because its at the very end of the level the tension you have going through that part is immense and can screw you up.
After all this time, the only opinion you have ever made that I strongly disagreed with was the block design in The Hallucination by VoTchi and SyQual.
Well, why the wave seems easier than the ball and the ship? Most logical response ever, players were used to that kind of hard ship and ball gameplay but the wave was just added into the game, so that "easy" wave was actually extreme demon difficulty because players had little to no idea controling it, another example will be the decode wave and the "does this look possible to you in normal speed?"
You can't say the ship and ball are harder than the wave, I passed the wave 3 times before beating the level, and passed the ship and ball in a row probably around 100 times before beating it and 5x in a row
the reason that the wave is so much easier than the rest of the level is because wave was still very new. in 1.9 this was balanced compared to the rest of the level cuz wave was impossible.

I think the main reason the wave might seem easier than the ship and ball for some people is because back in 1.9, people sucked at the wave, so the difficulty of the wave felt a lot harder compared to the rest of the level back in 1.9.
I agree with the ship being way harder than the wave. I didn't feel so much of this with the ball, but the ship was one of the most frustrating parts of nine circles for me.
The wave in Nice Circles is a huge difficulty spike for people in 1.9 and if people had easy to extreme ratings it would have been high insane or low extreme demon when it got released

I found the ship and ball to be very easy after I learned them. I got past them like 70%-80% of the time when I beat the level for the first time
