Sanding and polishing TV Yellow Nitro Lacquer

After letting the nitrocellulose lacquer dry for 10 days, I wet sand and then use car polishing products to achieve a smooth, shiny finish. Unfortunately, there is some slight sand-through of the lacquer as well, as a pre-cursor to doing a relic finish
