Hi Jordan, I have kept pigeons for over 30 years here in the UK. The dirty red colour I have commonly heard referred to as 'almond' or 'dunn'. That's what they call this colour in rollers, tumblers and tippler pigeons here in the UK. I would use the new loft for Rollers, purely because they are without a doubt one of the most entertaining pigoens in flight. You only need a 'kit' of around 6 birds to roll and tumble for you entertainment. They are also very maneuverable when it comes to ducking and diving from hawks. Great vids! U and Your Family, keep well My Friend.
I used to trap pigeons at night from underneath a fishing pier im not sure of what kind of pigeons they were but i used to let them free after 2 or 3 months after trapping them and they always came back to their house i guess they had a better life with me
Homing pigeons are a ton of fun I raise and fly them myself! I suggest a small aviary on the side of the coop with a hole above fitted with what is called bobs it a trapping device. Get a few more and breed them and next spring or summer you could be flying them! Hope this helps.
Another kind or mutation? Texas native wild pigeon is looked like a little smaller but it’s light brown color. Asia wild pigeons are smaller than blue dove, but they have spots around neck, light brown color; one is slimmer, the other has flower spots on the back and wings. Since around 1800, people brought pheasant and pigeons from Asia to US, it’s seemed like mounts a lot, may be found in fields or market.
Portuguese/Figurita cross. The one odd color is an almond. Very small Figyritas are quite difficult to breed, because larger size is dominant. There is also difficulty with feeding squats because of the short beaks, so many breeders use rollers or something similar to foster out the babies. Just simply swap eggs that are no more than 2 or 3 days apart. The figuritas can feed the rollers, and visa versa.
You can train old rollers but you have some amazing colours in that batch you bought so I wouldn’t risk losing therm but if there’s some that you aren’t bothered about loosing definitely try and train therm 👍
Older birds just keep for breeding from and the birds you bred are the ones you fly from your loft as they will stay but older birds from elsewhere will for sure take off and never be seen again. Rollers etc do the same but in a seperate loft from the homing pigeons , I’m sure you worked it all out by now anyway ,just my 2cents worth. 👍
I like your set up with all different birds...iv o also had bog property I would of done the same...do you also hot fantails..your videos rock my man🙏👍
I noticed you said your pigeons don't all come back . When I was a kid I would catch feral pigeons and keep them for at least 6 months and then when I would release them they would come back as long as it was a large group but if it's just a few they will leave and join another flock
Hey Jordan, great video, I live in Atlanta, Georgia, there are lots of pigeons flying free in this city, I do have homing pigeons and a few other fancy breeds, nice place you got, God bless you. ✌
Two different breeds portuguese tumblers and figuritas . Standard for the ports is 3/4 to 1" beak length. The strange brown black speck bird has almond gene . Kinda a brown almond may be other gene covering or modifying the almond gene . Ports are all amazing different colors . No fancy crests or ornaments just like a miniature homer .
You should make an drop true trap for your homers, it has an opening of 12 cm on 12 cm with an angle of 45 degrees (that way the birds wont be able to fly out) and then build a platform to land on that is also a door to close the trap so the preditors wont get in( is is actualy just like a sputnik trap buth in the wall. And the small homers are actually figuritas, they cant home pretty good buth they can do a few miles maybe, they can be verry tame, mine came sit on ly shoulder after 3 days of having them ( start with feeding them out of your hand)
Port-Vig, they meant Portuguese tumblers x Valencia figurita crosses. The previous owner probably crossed them just to keep their size small because they’re both tiny breeds.
Use one of your pigeon traps as a settling cage put it on the roof of your new loft. If you pick the younger ones with yellow fluff they will home well. Better yet build a settling cage that allows them to go in an out of the loft like 'highdef' both the trap or settling cage offer protection initially from the hawks. Gives the birds a fighting chance
@Hugo Adrian Wilkins ha ha ha but he got more different color pigeons. I like the an usual or rears one. I watched all his vlog. But try to skip shooting one. Lol
After watching, I looked up Portuguese Figuritas and didn't find much on the internet. However I found Portuguese Tumblers and Spanish Figuritas, both of which also make the claim of smallest pigeon breed. The Spanish Figuritas seem to have the tufts of feathers on the chest which is a look I don't care for. Perhaps Port Figs aka Portuguese Figuritas is a cross between the Portuguese Tumblers and Spanish Figuritas? Any thoughts Jordan or anyone else?
Jordan all you have to do for the trap is go to amazon and type in pigeon t traps and it will come put together or just the ts than you make a drake put. Then in and your good
U could put a bit of everything in ya flying loft . Just fill it with v perches and fly em ... doesnt matter what trapping system u use . If they're hungry . They'll go in . Portugese tumblers , I had em a while ago . I think they are classed as the smallest . I use drop let system on my loft .... Love the vids 👍👍
Yo tip for you.... cut their flight feathers and let them outside and they will know the outside and they will know and when their flight feathers one and it will look majestic cuz you have colored birds and they will fly and come back!
Good evening Jordan, you are building a nice little loft for your homing pigeons. Your plans for it sound good. It was interesting watching the trapping , again. Your goats look great as do your week old turkeys and the older ones are doing very well too! Will you be processing them yourself? We hope so! We are still waiting for the meat chickens! Shame you managed to buy a predominance of cock pigeons. Still these things happen!! Have you got any catch clean and cook's coming up or rabbit hunting with your 17? Are you going on the honker hunt with Bobby? Lots of questions!!! Take care, Malc and Ann (England) UK xxx
Your figuritas are definitely cross bred to something else ,that's where the port bit comes into it, their name is valencian figurita , they should have a neck Crest down their front (a frill) I keep figuritas . Lovely birds to keep and they get quite tame but their not great flyers they mostly sit on the roof or nearby walls, maybe that's why they crossed them . If you keep figuritas in your place after about 3 or 4 days its usually safe to let them out.
@@JordansHarvest no problem , if I could send you some pair's I would but the price and agro involved wouldn't be worth it , Ireland to America is a long way.
suggestion : better to put aviary & trap door for your racing / homing pigeons as well , as use for training purposes of your pigeons , if you want them to fly outside of your pigeon loft , you may research them in the google how to built & put one in your pigeon loft , don't mix racing / homing pigeon to the domestic one that you often caught it in the site or any other breed / blood line ) , best result are the pure breed / bloodline , it's better for homing pigeons to be separated , the price per each of a racing / homing pigeons are quite high , high flyers & quality pigeons with value & bloodline like jansen , walter & among others specially if they have pedegree or certificate , you can reproduce , post in the internet & resale the young pigeons that you have raise / breed , banded them with a ring ( year born ) , make money out of it ( with pedegree / certificate per each pigeon ) at a good price or participate / join a racing / homing pigeon club nearest in your place in the future , who knows you may become great / popular fancier pigeon in the future , wishing you good luck in raising your racing / homing pigeons & would appreciate it very much if you replied , bro. jordan .
If you would like to see another small breed pigeon check out the Budapest tumbler they look like Portuguese tumblers but with big big eyes & short break I don't think these can raise their own young so need foster parents. I keep Birmingham rollers and giant runt pigeon.cheers Jordan luv ya vids
Your pigeons are so beautiful the small pigeon are tipplers and the other one you said that you ddnt know is redbar, some of your offcolor pigeons are rare and so expensive
Make a roller kit box outside & a racer 1 Am telling tou they easy to train keep them hungry for a day then saake the food get them its eadt i have 10 rollers theh fly very high but as soom i shake they come down after flying 30 -45 mins

Love the videos!! If you like the small beak pigeons look into the oriental / classic old frill pigeons. They are always a nice addition to any loft.
