Well that was unexpected! What was the original source for the remix?
Perez Prado's original version from 1951: ruclips.net/video/pwomU0IqvWY/видео.html (Grew up with a few old Perez Prado records in the house.)

To be honest, I can't remember what the source was. We did the remix for a company that was putting out a compilation of mambo stuff and were looking to promote it... I tried to find details online but had no luck... maybe your Google skills are better!

@@BoomtangBoys No worries! I almost thought it might have been a track from the "Mambo All-Stars" CD (linked below) as the vocal part seems really close--I'll have to compare more closely. Some of Prado's trademark "grunts" are added into the remix. I'm mainly familiar with Perez Prado's versions--he would frequently re-record his old tracks, so there could be later versions out there I haven't heard.

(This listing mistakenly has Dave Grusin writing "Lupita.")

@@BoomtangBoys Nice--thanks much for finding that! I recognize a lot of the tunes on that one. Nice to see Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer) on one of the tracks also. (Lou Bega's cover of "Mambo No. 5" was all the rage back then as well.)
