    People tend to hate dressrosa and that the only good thing about it was doflamingo, but rereading all of fujitora's scenes I remembered what a great character he is, bowing down and then his inner monologue about Luffy makes me tear up every time.

    I really like your take on aokiji and sengoku's morality. A lot of time characters in fiction (and people irl) act in a corrupt system for years, but try to argue they arent bad people bc they felt bad; when in fact, at the end of the day, if someone kills your family does it really matter if they were sad while doing so?

    I think an interesting difference between Aokiji and Fujitora is the time they've been with the marines. Aokiji knows he can't do everything he feels he should do cuz they would strip him of his power and position, so he complies as much as he can, and if that interpretation is right, he pretends to be lazy a mediocre in certain circumstances where he doesn't want to act.
    But Fujitora is very new to the system, he's been with them for 2 years instead of like 20, that inexperience i think allows him to be so bold, and the WG and Akainu can't get rid of him, cuz the final war is approaching and they'll need his strength.
    I think thats a big difference between them, Fujitora hasn't been in the marines long enough for his rebellious heart to be cooled down, and thankfully the story will wrap up before that eventually ends up happening, So he can be bolder and do the important things that need to be done, before they take his power away from him.

    • @adoniscreed4031
      @adoniscreed4031 Год назад +14

      I agree with half of what you're saying... I think that their differences are mostly to do with how long they have been marines for. But I think that Aokiji is less rebelious because he was exposed to way more marine propaganda and vitriol than Fujitora. Aokiji has probably had been told that the Government is always right for a long long time before Ohara and just followed along with what he thought was justice. Fujitora had a long life before immediately being put in a place of authority in the marines, he has his own moral compass that he never changes for anyone.

He's hyped all the time but people forget that he took part in the destruction of Ohara, killed his best friend and gave Spandam of all people the right to call for a buster call. He acts all cool and lazy but at the end of the day, he still got innocent blood on his hands. Just because he "let Robin get away" doesn't justify everything. Fujitora on the other hand completely blew my mind when he decided to take the bet on Luffy to take down Doflamingo, kneeled in front of King Riku, stood up to Akainu and even gave the Straw Hats time to rest before going after them. Aokiji is getting his redemption arc but Fujitora is indeed the one fit to lead the Marines eventually.

    Problem with this theory is the length of Fujitora's service and how he came to be a Marine. For a guy who never joined the Marines despite being an admiral level fighter and only taking advantage of their reduced need for loyalty due to the crisis after the Summit War, being less indoctrinated than career soldiers like Aokiji and Smoker isn't as big an achievement as you're making it out to be. And it has already been confirmed that his primary reason for joining the Marines was to abolish the Shichibukai system, not to reform the Marines as a whole. He does not seem like a character with enough depth and attachment when it comes to that institution to make him being the bringer of change a very satisfying conclusion to this portion of the story. Aokiji or Smoker breaking out of their indoctrination and leading other Marines towards doing the same is a much better fit for the themes Oda usually looks for.

    It's no coincidence that Fujitora was introduced in an arc wherein a major island gets razed to the ground (save for the lives lives of the citizenry), but there's no mourning of it for all parties involved. It's instead viewed as a glowing opportunity to build something better from the ground-up where all those buildings once stood. Now they have a shining beacon of hope that they can put up on a pedestal as an eternal monument to their liberation, so that they have history of the world to pass on for generations to come about why the destruction of the hidden evils that plagued the city were so important.
    Makes me cry, man. That's the dawn of romance, baby. Fujitora unflinchingly putting himself on the chopping block to go on the side of the good guys, too, is beautiful, since him refusing to do so would have allowed the seeds of another disaster on that level to happen again. I've seen, in real life, too many powerful people refuse to do something when they had the ability to do so and lament on their regrets about it decades later, far after what they say matters anymore to make a difference.
    Dressrosa is tied for my favorite arc (with Impel Down) for good reason. Excellent stuff all around.

      @@yeee17 If Fujitora is being propped up to be this morally righteous person, which based on Dressrosa, he is, then it matters. Excellent video. The only reason I see Fujitora not being the fleet admiral is the question who the ordinary admirals will be. I am quite sure Sabo will end up being an admiral by the end of the series, and maybe Gion and Tokikake? Smoker, Drake and Koby do have potential but they don´t have the power nor the experience to become actual admirals at this moment.

    After The Dawn, Do you think pirates will still be arrested for what they do? Would Fujitora, Smoker or Coby arrest the Straw Hats and have them executed because they are pirates? What about other pirates like Kid and Law? And why would Vivi get a political role? Isn't she a member of the Straw Hats too? She wants to see the world right? Would piracy still be legal?

    You know, there's veen a lot of discussion about recently about how Skypiea is the whole of One Pieces story in miniature. Mostly about how Luffy's gonna kick gods ass and bring the dawn by the end BUT! If we take this comparison further we can draw paralels between the marines and Enels/Ganfals soldiers. Enels soldiers and priests revel in their power and opress the Skypieans and Shandians with glee, while the White Berets keep everyone in line to protect them from the wrath of God. The interesting point here is how futile these attempts were as Enel was going to kill everyone in the no matter what. Similarly no matter how good intentioned some Marines are, their good intentions amount to little if 99.9% of the time they bend to the will of gods who will just purge the lower realms clean when the populace gets too uppity.
    Another great reason why Fujitora is the best current candidate to lead the Marines into the future as he actively goes against the gods' cruel will.
