I LOVE your little fireside nook! When you clean out the fire box, don't remove all the ashes. Leaving just a little bit will help your fires. To clean the glass, dip a wet newspaper into the ashes and use that to scrub it. It works great and its free. Just some tricks I learned about woodstoves. Didn't know if you knew about them....disregard if you did, please. Can't wait to see your first camping video after the remodel!
About eight years ago, I made a 30 caliber ammo can woodstove. It worked great. And then it began to burn out. I bought heavy iron and built one slightly larger than it was. I have two years on it now. A lot of my cooking is down on top of it. and most of my heating is from it. 3 inch pipe straight through the top. Don’t have to take the pipe down to clean it. Just run a chimney brush from the top down into the stove and pull it back up.
I initially bought one, but just like when I was a little girl with my Barbie play kitchen. I soon discovered that you have to stay up all night just to keep it going. I upgraded to a bigger, better, more efficient fireplace that is designed for Rv’s/Truck Campers
Congrats and welcome to the club! I use kitchen tongs to add wood and stoke my fire. Burn good dry hardwood and you'll get an over night burn barely. I'm gonna add a chimney damper to extend the burn times.
Larry that stove is really cool you did a fantastic job building all that like how you did your chair setup like your videos thanks Larry for sharing all you do.
Damm Larry this is the coolest coziest little spot in the camper I Love it nice to chill there with a beer and olives staying warm by the fire With the puppies by your feet I can’t wait for you to be camping with your new creation your own little man cave Lol!! Have an awesome week looking foward to next weeks video Debbie from New Jersey Hugs to Mason & Marty ❤️ ok one for you too 😊
What a sweet little fire, and great design with the rail balcony on top of it. It's kind of a shame you can't stare at the burning flames but it makes sense to turn the window to the front. All you need now Larry is some cosy slippers and glass of beer ! 🔥
I have a glass front wood stove in my house and the best way to clean the glass is to wad up a page of newspaper wet it and dip in the ash and scrub the soot right off. You may have to dip the ash twice if the soot is bad.
By what I seen when you installed it that you took al precautions brother, I bet you will be nice and cozy for winter camping, hope to see you enjoy many times
Looks like you dotted all your i’s and crosses all your t’s during instal process! Your fireside nook area looks great as well. Now time for you start a weekly fireside chat series of videos! lol As always, stay safe out there…..
Well maybe that should become a part of your profession. Chimney installer /Sweep. Kidding. You did Awesome 👍 Yes, before installing a wood stove of any kind always light a fire in it outside, just because of the paint and oils on them. I'm So Happy it's working out. You will save on propane.
Larry, two things, first, do you have a carbon monoxide detector in your camper? And second, when the fire is burning inside the stove, maybe go outside of the camper and see if the smoke is actually coming out of the chimney above? It's just a thought.
That looks awesome. If you are concerned about the hot spot right under the stove, you could possibly place a piece of something like hardy backer right under it ? Just a thought. The whole project came out very nice.
Larry, the chimney going through the cabinets and your roof needs to be within a box. That’s code. I’m sure you know this but wanted to share that with you! Also, the chimney pipe needs to clear 2’ clearance from the highest peak on your camper. Happy you have some off grid heat! Your heat nook looks so comfy! You can use a razor blade to clean your glass. Stay safe!❤️🙏🏻✝️
Lookin' good ... i was wondering what the heat shield temperatures would be without air flow from the bottom of the heat sheild bringing up cool air to cool the panels off.
Hey Larry! It looks great, so happy it seems to be a perfect choice for the camper. How do ya think the boys will be around it? Give them some love for me.😁🐾💙Big hugs from Texas!😜🤩
Do you have any type of cover for the chimney for when you're driving so it doesn't blow down into the fireplace. I would think any ash in the fireplace will be all over the camper when you get where you're going.
I'd upgrade to a little larger stove. Those small ones are junk. You can control the amount of wood you put in a larger stove. The small ones need lots of wood to be functional. I been burning wood for over 50 years and I like it hot. My house is always 85-90 all winter long.
Hey Larry, brother - this might be a dumb question, but can I ask you why you ran the chimney straight up through the top, rather’n putting a 90 inside the cabinet and running it out the side? Seems to me it’s less of a water intrusion issue on the side; plus your camper is already high, and now you’ve added the extra height of the chimney vent, to get caught on branches or whatever.
@@calvarycustoms6681 cubic mini wood stoves are so small they have a tendency to back draft so the manufacturer has a warning on their webpage to only install ur chimney straight up and as short as possible to help prevent back draft. They don’t even sell anything but straight pipes and they make them so u can’t use any other types of pipe. Otherwise my original plan was to install the stove in the rear corner and just remove the rear window and have it go out the side.
Ah, got it. That makes sense. Hey I’m going to be out in Qsite this Thursday, right near Dome Rock. Anything cool you can recommend to look for in that area beside the rock itself?
@@calvarycustoms6681Silly Al’s pizza in Qsite is wonderful but as far as places- the desert bar, Swansea, and Preachers Rock are all pretty cool places

Hey Larry, I was just wondering are you on some kind of a diet or is there something physically that you’re battling? I hope you’re well man you just look a little thin like I say I hope it’s it’s all good brother.
Man, that area you built with the chair and stove is perfect! What a great place to hang out next to the stove and watch the snowfall outside.

Larry that stove is really cool you did a fantastic job building all that like how you did your chair setup like your videos thanks Larry for sharing all you do.
Those little stoves put off plenty of heat for a camper like yours, That's perfect really
Maybe place a silver heat blanket under the stove to stop the heat cracking the tile - looking good
Very cool! Love the old school chair - comfy!
Another entertaining and relaxing video. Thanks for posting

If you don't have one, get a fireblanket. I have 2. 1 I keep in the motorhome, the other in my van for camping.
Enjoy your new atmosphere!
Great idea. A few others have done the same. Nice small stove you can warm stuff on also. Can’t wait to see you and the pups camping using it.

Larry- quick question- why didn’t you turn the stove towards your chair so you could watch the fire? Looks pretty toasty and comfy
So WE could see it, silly 😂
Yeah i wanted to make sure y’all could see it 😃 basically I had to think of camera angles lol
@ haha
its going to crack that window on a cold day better shield it nice stove

What's the transfer heat under the base? It's wood under there? Looks great though!
Nice

Which camper is this for that medium sized one?
What’s the brand and model of the stove.?

These little stoves are worthless. Only burn little tiny sticks and you need to constantly feed it for any heat.
Yay
