Wonderful reaction to an epic song. I am 70. I have played drums for over 60 years. This was a masterclass in drumming by Kai. I know you talked about his feet on the double kick, but he has incredibly fast hands. With three months practice, and going back in time to when I was 20 and playing professionally I maybe could play 30% of this. That doesnt make me a bad drummer, it makes Kai unreal.

A great composer, a poet, the man behind everything, Fan Fact: He is missing a third of his right lung due to tuberculosis he suffered back in 1997 while he was in the army. One of the best bands in Finland and my hometown. That studio where they were filming and recording that second album is about 1-2km from my home. The whole band consists of really skilled musicians. Jari Mäenpää (blonde guitarist) is the same for the band as Tuomas Holopainen for Nightwish, composer-lyricist. Three videos have been made of that same live rehearsal situation. "Time" is about the same length as this and a really good song. You should try it next from them.
I am half Swedish, and half Pict. This song brings ALL my berserker DNA screaming awake. I am a clear and present danger to all Northern British monasteries and Roman legionnaires.
Kai always looks so very happy when he is playing. Other drummers sometimes makes ugly faces and you can see that there is quite a lot of strain going in to the playing. Kai doesn't do that, most of the time he has a big happy grin on his face, and the more complicated and intricate it is the happier he looks. Cheers / B.

The music actually sounds a bit weird here when mixed down to a mono track, as some instruments are louder and others are fainter than in the original mix and the spatial feeling is gone. Normally that doesn't bother me so much in reaction videos but apparently in Wintersun it is somehow especially noticeable.
Since this video was a long time ago...did you ever watch his drum clinic video where they recorded just him playing this with barely any music , so you just hear the drums, sometimes i listen to it to relax.
I'm primarily Nightwish fan but I also discovered Wintersun cause of these reaction videos. They have some epic songs, you definitely need to hear/react to Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter) Official Lyric Video ruclips.net/video/qIiZFpOQnd8/видео.html Although Sons of Winter and Stars is fantastic and those riffs are brutally good I must admit Loneliness is my favorite piece of music by Wintersun, it's kind of power ballad but music and words is just epic! What is even more crazy is that Jari (guy that sings and plays guitar and is creative force behind Wintersun) recorded that entire song and that entire album Forest Season by himself, wrote lyrics and played every instrument, how crazy is that :) He is musical genius, maybe not to the level of Tuomas from Nightwish but he is up there as quite the unique character in the world of metal.
I love all veterans. The act of sacrifice made for their fellow man is so admirable to me and I have so much respect for them all. Shout out to Finland and it’s Veterans much love and respect 👊🙏

Not to say I ever was even close to the lvl of Kai but I used to lose 7kg per concert ontopp of drinking 4-5 liters of water.... so yah, put 2-3 of those songs in the setlist and you are dead. ps. just as a fun fact for my first concert I was nervous and we drank a bit.... think I had 3-4 beers before the show, by song 5 I was wasted....... never drank again pre playing
