What are your thoughts on Bill Skarsgård’s Nosferatu? Do you think he’ll outdo the original? Let us know in the comments! 🎬 Chris & Justin, your Screen Jockeys
Nosferatu means vampire in romanian Count Orlok is the name of the vampire we see in the trailer. in the original Nosferatu film and this film, names are changed Husband character is Thomas Hutter Wife character is Ellen Hutter Instead of Renifield, it's Knock. Eggers has confirmed this will be a full blown gothic horror film.
It looks like a full blown gothic horror, and I love that. I took a gothic lit class on a study abroad in London the summer of 2004. Coppola's Dracula is one of my favorite movies. Thanks for the character info! - Justin
It's actually not a Romanian word. it may derive from the Romanian word "nesuferit," meaning "unbearable," or it could be linked to other Slavic languages. However, in Romanian, the common term for vampire is "vampir." In other words, 'nosferatu' was made up by Bram Stoker. Some believe "Nosferatu" derives from the Greek word nosophoros, meaning "disease-bearing." Stoker probably didn't invent it though. Because 'nosferatu' appears in the work of Emily Gerard, a Scottish author who wrote about Transylvanian folklore in her 1885 essay Transylvanian Superstitions. Stoker heavily relied on this essay when researching Dracula. Gerard mentioned the word "nosferatu," possibly as a misunderstanding or adaptation of a Romanian term.
@yidas-builds I ended up working on my next solo video instead last night (Team America), but with a glowing rec like that I might have to ignore everything else and watch The Lighthouse tonight. - Justin

The hand's giant shadow over the village brings to mind an image from early on in another Murnau film, FAUST.
I haven't seen his Faust - I'll look it up. - Justin
