It depends really, some pieces of the lore say that the lasguns are like oversized flashlights and don’t do anything while others say that they take chunks out of the enemies. What I personally like to belive is that the imperium just makes them and doesn’t really think about how they are tuned, a guard has about an hour of training if they are lucky.
@@Eggzrgoood They know how to tune it. Like the other guy said, it depends on the foes. There are even regiments that have armor resistant to Blood Pact's lasbolts in the Sabbat Crusade setting. Dark Imperium has a guardsman killing a Death Guard point-blank with lasbolts to the head. 15 Hours has guardsmen train on their lasguns for about several weeks. That's where the grimdark comes in. Recruited guardsmen are relatively well trained, but they're not enough against swarms of orks and tyranids.

The flak armor and their guard uniform actually offer decent protection as well. They block kinetic gun rounds and many are environmentally sealed. Also many of those downed guardsmen are wounded rather than killed.

I don't really think so, last I checked, most Lasguns have different power settings, and can as such be more powerful or less at the cost of the battery charge, and most the time people keep the charge moderate instead of constantly at the highest setting. Krieg I'm pretty sure just always has the more powerful version, hence the animation.

All this pathos is worthless. If the author wants the guards to kill a space marine, they will kill him. A simple plasma shot or one hit from any other heavy weapon is enough. However, if the author wants one Space Marine to massacre an entire regiment armed only with plasma throwers, the Space Marine will do it. Warhammer is an endless game of rock-paper-scissors, in which the author determines what both sides will have, depending on whether the author wants to show the coolness of the first side of the conflict or the second.
To settle the discourse before it starts, this wasn't just any Astartes, this was Khärn the Betrayer, one of Khorne's most favoured, and easily one of the top five most untouchable living combatants in the setting.

And a little later, he jumped on a warlord-class titan (apparently dad Khorne teleported his throne behind the titan so that his beloved son would have somewhere to jump on the titan), somehow getting inside and destroying this titan from the inside.

I think it has something to do with the fact that the guardsmen in this game are mainly there to hold ground, whereas the cultists need to spread out and attack Titus from multiple directions.
I really like that the stun animation for chaos marines actually has their armor malfunctioning from all of the damage. They don't even look horribly weakened or faltered, just mildly annoyed that their armor is failing them in that instance.

Watching from the beginning, it's nice to see the trigger discipline on the AI here. They don't shoot through each other and hold their fire until able to get a clean sightline.
Most games like this would just make the Guard cannon fodder that do absolutely nothing other then as a living prop to liven things up. But nah, They went and actually made it so they can put up a decent fight. Still need us to finish the job, but at least they can protect themselves.

I love the Guardsmen in SM2. I kinda would've liked them to seem more disciplined as they are Cadians but they aren't any Kriegers so its to be expected, They performed pretty id say and the devs did a great job.

All the guard lovers forgetting that all CSM units had a little pause, smoke break, wonder round between actually attacking. Deployments all favored Guard, numbers/resources/points totals favoured guard, arena favoured guard.
The lasgun is often overshadowed by the ancient xenos weapon, or the holy weapons of the astartes, but nonetheless, do not underestimate it. The lasgun is what was used to eradicate 90% of the galaxy during the great crusade. Now they're left with the 10%, yet the guard still stand strong.
Not giving any vehicles or heavy weapons to the Guardsmen does a really big disservice to them because they rely really heavily on them for stuff they can't take care of with lasguns. The RTS's of 40K show this dynamic a lot better.
Kinda, I think the guard deal a little too much damage against the Tsons and the Tsons movements/reactions aren't nearly doing enough praise to the capabilities of them Kasrkin would undoubtly put on the hurt, but in order just to kill 1 or 2 traitor marines, they would have to set up a scenario where they get an advantage--taking them head on would not end well for even Kasrkin or Scions--space marines are built for just eating small-arms fire

Amazing, Space Marine 2 Engine has amazing capabilities to reproduce large scale 40k battles! Looking forward to see it within a RTS environment similar to Dawn of War 2 or Total Warhammer !

All the guard lovers forgetting that all CSM units had a little pause, smoke break, wonder round between actually attacking. Deployments all favored Guard, numbers/resources/points totals favoured guard, arena favoured guard.
The lasgun is often overshadowed by the ancient xenos weapon, or the holy weapons of the astartes, but nonetheless, do not underestimate it. The lasgun is what was used to eradicate 90% of the galaxy during the great crusade. Now they're left with the 10%, yet the guard still stand strong.
Not giving any vehicles or heavy weapons to the Guardsmen does a really big disservice to them because they rely really heavily on them for stuff they can't take care of with lasguns. The RTS's of 40K show this dynamic a lot better.

Remember, those are regular guardsmens. If There were Karskin, or with armored support, those Thousand Son would be dead ( Again ) for a long time.
Kinda, I think the guard deal a little too much damage against the Tsons and the Tsons movements/reactions aren't nearly doing enough praise to the capabilities of them
Kasrkin would undoubtly put on the hurt, but in order just to kill 1 or 2 traitor marines, they would have to set up a scenario where they get an advantage--taking them head on would not end well for even Kasrkin or Scions--space marines are built for just eating small-arms fire
