- In this video I take on the 2023 Ryder Cup course at Marco Simone in Italy near Rome where this year's event will be held in September. I've been lucky enough to play a few Ryder Cup courses and I can say with absolute honesty this is the most difficult because of how they are setting the rough and fairways for the best players in the world. Can I break 70, 80 or even 90!

Honestly Pete, in 3 years you have gone from just being a great golf RUclipsr amongst a fair few of them, to being the most enjoyable, genuine and witty of them all. You have developed such a charisma and an open, honest style, it's great to watch. Never, ever, think you've failed if you play like crap, nobody is watching your channel to see good golf, just whatever golf you play (good or bad) on the day you stuck a camera on it.

For god sakes man, TAKE A DROP! As soon as I saw him line up to try and hit that out I was like "oh god... tell me he's joking!", then the second time I was like "surely no... take a drop, TAKE A DROP!", than all I could do was laugh.

Man I dont know what it is lately - but the more I want Pete, the more I wonder why Rick's channel is so much bigger. I have started to find myself watching way more Pete and enjoying it a lot more than the negativity that seems to cloud over RIcks newer videos. You take everything in stride so well, and are very good at brushing it off and just having a laugh - makes your videos so much more enjoyable.
I absolutely pi55ed my pants laughing while on hole 15 after the drive, in chest high fescue, when he kept swinging and looking for his ball, then swung again and looked, and repeated said act over and over and over! 😂😂😂 So stubborn and so relatable so much pain. We have all been there and still love this game for some reason. Amazing video buddy.

Pete, your on-screen presence has become consistently entertaining. And on top of that, your team has really been doing top-notch editing. It can't be easy filming a 4 hour round and taking the best 45 minutes and still being able to tell a coherent story. Impressive work all around.

Brilliant vid. I think this just sums up golf for me - it doesn’t matter how bad a round you’re having - one shot, just one brilliant shot, is all it takes to make us come back the next week and tee it up all over again! Awesome course. Looking forward to seeing how the Ryder Cup teams perform on it in a few weeks.

The cap tip back in the buggy at 37:41 is some of the best content I’ve seen all year! 15 paces from the fairway and in that! Look forward to seeing how many players are left in each team for singles on the Sunday! They might need the tour trucks after they’ve all snapped their clubs!

Thank you Pete for such a brilliant demonstration of why proper golf is Match Play where the worst that can happen to you after a disaster is to lose the hole. It doesn't ruin your whole day...just play on from there!

Appreciate the honesty in showing the escapades on 15. I think its a great strategy course. Europe has the accuracy advantage.... Hovland, Fleetwood, Hatton especially. If Rahm has a good week, to back up McIlroy's recent great form, I don't see the US winning here, even with all we have. I'm excited to see Scottie play here, his ball striking in 2023 has been as good as it gets and better.

Played the course in June off the Ryder Cup tees and had a very similar experience 😅 It was both amazing and traumatic to relive the round through this video, mostly because I never want to be reminded of that rough ever again.

Well done Pete. I played there one week after The Italian Open earlier this year. Amazing course but the rough is something else.
If they leave that rough that tall you will have to put a bell around Rickey Fowlers neck to find him in there. Looks like a great course, they need to give more of a first cut along the fairways though. I have to admit I laughed so hard watching the shots on 15, great job not losing that ball in the hay.

Hi Pete. As an answer to your question about a 4 handicapper …. I’m an 8 and shot 92 there from one tee up from you. I played it on early August. It is REALLY difficult if your not in the fairway. Love this video.

This video is quite simply brilliant!😅 We've all hacked at a ball that refuses to get out of the rough, but seeing you do it gives us all hope and a bloody good laugh. Wonder if the R&A will let you swap out a club for a garden strimmer😊
A fine example of taking land that has little water, few trees, and using grass as a hazard to create a real challenge. The Ryder Cuppers better be able to drive the ball straight. Thanks for this terrific preview of the venue. We are used to seeing high fescue on British Isle courses that looks hazardous when shot from a distance, but allows for contact with the golf ball once you see it from a closer angle. This ain't your English fescue grass!
