Hey guys! A lovely homey chatty vlog today. Would love to know which side of the wall you think we should decorate. I am thinking the right side? I'll be taking a week off but then I will be coming back with ALL OF THE CHRISTMAS STUFF! Coz as soon as November comes you KNOW it's Christmas. Love you lots. See you in the comments xxx
Hi Emma love watching your vlogs, loving the new white hallway , we painted our kitchen and bathroom white and I love it so much fresher and brighter. Can I ask what gloss you used on your skirtings (I need to redo all our woodwork because it’s been 2 years since I last did them and all has yellowed not impressed at all. Can I just say I loved the squeegee moment that has really made my night haha just as the bath bomb song does x
During the entire Dunelm haul I couldn’t stop smiling at how unintentionally funny you are, thinking of whoever gets married into your lovely family is gonna be the luckiest person in the world! Your the kind of mother in law id love to have my boy to have. Sweet, chatty and thoughtful. So pure. Hope your week off is filled with lots of chill and getting settled! Lots of love ‘Aunty Em!’ X
Left hand side bannister going all the way up the stairs!! Right hand side gallery wall in black frames!! I feel heavily invested in this debate at 7:40am on a Saturday morning!! Ha! X
Hello, just wanted to pop a message to say I’m sending positive ‘vibes’ to your dad. Enjoy half term, you deserve a break and spending time with your kiddos. Also an early happy 40th to Steven. I’ve had to fill middle school / secondary school place for my middle one too we only put up to 3 schools here, only 2 in our catchment area. I’ve only put 1 down as my eldest will still be there so 🤞🏻. Big hugs to you x
My son started secondary school this year, it’s like an emotional rollercoaster! He didn’t get his first choice school, however I feel like it’s worked out well. Good luck to Erin, she will smash it ❤️
We have the large H&M bath mat/rug in our bathroom. It is big so we use it as a rug but we love it. Have a lovely week off with your beautiful family. Sending you so much love and all the positive vibes for your lovely Dad. Take care xxx
Bannisters typically go on the right side (because 90% of the world is right handed) and gallery walls on the left. And since your staircase curves clockwise I would say that’s appropriate.
I think gallery on the wall that you can see from the hallway and then banister going up the wall on the left :-) have a lovely week off - be kind to yourself! x
Here in Hampshire we had a choice of 4 schools (usually 3) to choose from last year. They added an extra choice because it was very hard to go and view the schools in lockdown last year. So count your blessings you can actually go this year. Your stairs should really have a banister, health and safety lol. I would put the gallery wall where that old wall paper is lol. They did a good job painting the wall, nice and fresh.
What about a long full length mirror for one side of the wall going up the stair.. hence give the impression of space and also you can check yourself as leaving the house lol xx
Emma, our old home we had was a two-story, 13 steps and thankfully had banister. We also had carpeted stairs and that made them slippery depending on our shoes, so we always wore socks. Please get at least one side done, just my two cents. I love the white paint, it always brightens up a home.
Frames on the bigger wall. With your poorly leg I would have a railing . Lovely homeware haul. Sending hugs to you and enjoy your week off.. Hope your dad is doing better. xx
Definitely know about feeling overwhelmed. Been off work due to Covid, had to apply for my daughter's secondary school place (we only get to choose 3 in Cambridgeshire) & also have fallen behind with uni work due to feeling so ill. Going to spend half term catching up with everything!
Definitely put a bannister up on the right hand side of your stairs. If you don’t use it yet, maybe decorate it with lights or a Garland at Christmas or Easter times x
That was a big area that Stephen painted! It looks so much brighter. Love all the big bits & bobs you got, especially the lamp shade. Hope you have a lovely week off. Primark has some lovely Disney Christmas things. I got a mini Mickey waffle maker £22 and Minnie stocking holder £7.50 I’m off to a different Primark today to see if they have the Mickey one.
Me and my daughter paint our pumpkins! I have the same issue with carving them 🤢 but we've painted them the last few years and she loves it! Plus they last so much longer too 😉
Hi Emma first time to comment. I think you should put up a handrail on the right just a simple one . And picture on the left maybe canvas style As they don’t look too heavy on the lovely white wall 😍
My house is completely white too. On my wall by my stairs I have a gigantic photo in a black frame of Gary Numan; looks immense. I have some cool white bulbs and some normal as I think it can look too sterile. Xxxxx.
Think you would probably struggle to get furniture up and down if you had a bannister maybe that’s why there is not one there from before, probably need to leave it til last to put one in
Left hand side. Very simple panelling bottom half with handrail at the top. Black frames simple gallery wall above. Maybe graduated hanging plants on the right hand side at the corner beside the window? 🤷🏼♀️ Also too invested for a Saturday morning xx
Oh wait, it depends whether we all mean left going up or left going down?! I meant to say right for the panelling and gallery 🤦🏼♀️ as the window is on the left... Doh!
@@brummymummyof2 it's just because the left is bigger. The right doesn't look big enough for very many pictures, but maybe in person it is. I just think it will make the big wall look more noticeably empty. Maybe a big poster/ painting/ portrait to balance.
I think the larger wall would benefit from a railing and then above the railing up couple of feet a very large canvas painting or photo printed on canvas. Smaller wall I haven’t decided yet. If you hang the photos in the black frames keep kn mind the line of the stairs so the lines don’t clash to your eye. I love Disney too. Maybe you can theme the boho chic thing and match it to one of the Disney resorts and look at what their decor is like to replicate one of the resorts in mini. The rug looks like a serious fall risk so def flatten and stick it down. I have one I need to do the same to and just don’t know what to use so I can remove the rug and still wash the floor under it. I love the white in dark spaces. I think the height of your wall there could even be accentuated with a super tall piece of artwork. I think you seem torn between your love od your Disney memories and the boho chic modern look and your collections. Oooh what about long tall vertical multi window frames so you can fit many Disney memories into one cohesive frame and graduate the long frames ip the wall in the angle of the stairs and possible railings? Just throwing ideas out there. I like gallery walls a lot too and you can also add more frames as you want to rearrange the frame layout if you use command strips so the wall doesn’t get trashed moving nails. So many options. Also I’m so sorry about your loss of your Lucy. So sad. That plus a big school change and big birthday is a lot nevermind your dad being sick and so on. Make sure number one of all jobs is self care and getting proper or even a little extra sleep, water and good healthy food and a fresh air walk away from all the people who need you and just enjoy the autumn leaves. You are doing a lot plus making video content so I’m glad you at least took a break from that. Good luck on schools to Erin. Sounds like a lot going on for her too. Maybe bring just her along on your walks to decompress together. My mom and I used to take drives just to get out and away from the rest of the fam and enjoy whatever was in season whether it was Christmas lights or a drive by the beach or looking at store windows taking a walk. Hang in and good job on all the work for updating the house. I’m just working on cleaning out cabinets and trying to organize before the holidays begin and decor comes out to further clutter up my house lol. I love it though and won’t say no to Christmas decor.
We had a U shaped stair case, the top half had a banister, the second half didn't. I fell down those stairs so many times its not even funny. I ended up with a huge gash on one arm (still a visible scar 15 years later) from my arm sliding down the edge of the stairs as I fell. 2 railings might be a bit tight in a small stairway but one would be perfect and make using the stairs more comfortable and safer.
Hi Emma my fellow Brummie, regarding the handrails, I would put some up, your gonna get a lot of grubby hand marks plus I have the same back condition as you and I couldnt get up my stairs without them, I actually had bannisters put up on both sides. xxxxx
It’s always wild to me that you have to apply to schools in the UK. In the US, you live in a school zone and you go to that school. The only exception are private schools and certain charter or magnet school problems (charters are public schools that basically run like private schools and magnet schools are schools that specialize in something like the arts or STEM). I did go to a private high school and my parents made me do all the applying myself including scheduling entrance exams.
Yes there are all sorts of schools. Grammar that need exams, private that you pay for, religious and so on! I will say on the whole a lot of people just go to the school nearest x
I like things in even numbers - I bought 5 maybe 7…… I’m confused?! Help!!! Did you buy an odd number and now you can’t cope or is it you like odd numbers so will be ok?
Do they have grammar schools in Birmingham? In Kent, where I live, the 11+ is a big thing. My son didn’t take it (he’s current year 6), so I feel like I dodged the drama, but there’s been a lot of talk of it since the results came out on Thursday! I think it can be quite stressful. In fact, the whole school application process can be stressful! 🙈 x

Haaaaa!!!!! I think right for gallery too as it seems like a square? Does that make sense?
I bought two of those h&m wall basket...smells beautiful! They're in my kitchen hanging on hooks..holding wipes and plastic bags x

Thanks Lisa! See you in a week for festive fun!
The “I’m going to clean your faces…..(squeak)…. (Squeak)….. (squeak)”made me laugh so much. Thanks, I needed that!
You enjoy your time off with your family we will always be here Happy 40th Steve 🎉🎂🎈🍾
Love your fresh looking hallway. We have similar stairs to you and we have a bannister rail on the outside curved wall, couldn't do without it. Xx
Big hugs Em, take it easy and enjoy your week off with the family! Xx
Thanks Zoe!
We have photos all up one side and then art stuff on the other like wooden hearts and stars and signs.
You could do a left hand banister in thick rope that will link in to the "vibe" of the bathroom and the jute rug xx
My son started secondary school this year, it’s like an emotional rollercoaster! He didn’t get his first choice school, however I feel like it’s worked out well. Good luck to Erin, she will smash it ❤️
Right side ❤️
Sensing you and your family love Emma, enjoy half term, you deserve the week off RUclips! ☺️❤️
Love all the bathroom bits we have a gallery wall as well and they really make the hall pop xx
We have the large H&M bath mat/rug in our bathroom. It is big so we use it as a rug but we love it. Have a lovely week off with your beautiful family. Sending you so much love and all the positive vibes for your lovely Dad. Take care xxx

So logical 🤗 I agree.
Enjoy your break Emma. Hope you're dad is better soon xxx
Love these homey vlogs 😍❤️ have a nice break and i’m really looking forward to all the christmas vlogs!! ❤️

Enjoy ur break!!!!! The right side for your pics. Take care xx
Sending lots of love to you and your family ❤️
A really thick rope banister would look good down the left side and the pictures on the right. We have the rope banister and love it .
Enjoy your week Emma 🤩 can’t wait for all your Christmas fun coming up! Make sure to take it one day at time.
Will do lovely xxxx

Yeah I did just mention it to Stephen. Will see what he thinks! x
The anti-slip under-rug stuff at Dunelm is really good. It’s like a crazy felt material that feels sticky but isn’t.
Frames on the bigger wall. With your poorly leg I would have a railing . Lovely homeware haul. Sending hugs to you and enjoy your week off.. Hope your dad is doing better. xx

a gallery wall of postcards from places you've visited as postcards tend to fit into 6x4 frames
Gallery left & banister right!
Definitely put a bannister up on the right hand side of your stairs. If you don’t use it yet, maybe decorate it with lights or a Garland at Christmas or Easter times x
Oh yes!!
Lucy picture should be the big frame 🖤
I think the wall you can see as you come in front door for pictures other side bannister :) enjoy your week off x
Right side gallery wall 😍😍😍😍😍
Emma to get the inside out of the pumpkin use a electric hand mixer
That was a big area that Stephen painted! It looks so much brighter. Love all the big bits & bobs you got, especially the lamp shade. Hope you have a lovely week off. Have a fab half term Emma, enjoy time with your family and we will all look forward to your return in November ❤️❤️
Definitely a bannister! Otherwise you might hand marks on your new walls! ☺️
We already have one!!
Hand rail on the right ( would be for safety too) and gallery wall on the left.
“I’m gonna clean your faces!” I laughed out loud! I hope you enjoy your time out 😊😘❤️
Have a great week off xx
Photos on left side, definitely get a hand rail, I'd put on right side
Take care, sending hugs x
Me and my daughter paint our pumpkins! I have the same issue with carving them 🤢 but we've painted them the last few years and she loves it! Plus they last so much longer too 😉
Take care of yourself as well xx
😂😂😂 you always make me laugh! Have a lovely half term..xxx

"I think it smells like a guinea pig" howling 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It does!!!
You can buy double sided carpet tape for your hall rug if it slides
Hey Emma enjoy your break happy 40th birthday to Stephen and I really hope your dad's on the mend soon look after yourself chick xxxxx
Hi Emma, house is looking great….bannister would be a good idea and would break up the large space. By the way I also still say Dunhelm Millls 😂😂xx
Beautiful house 🌸🌸
Think you would probably struggle to get furniture up and down if you had a bannister maybe that’s why there is not one there from before, probably need to leave it til last to put one in
‘Plain mirror’ … forgets to mention the ‘Nice Bum’ sticker 😂😂
I love your videos

Emma you should get daylight bulbs instead of warm ones , warm ones make things look yellow .
Yes! It’s driving me bonkers!

I LOVE ODD NUMBERS!!! Even numbers feel wrong on my eyes. I have no clue why??? x
Ok good can rest easy now for half term! Thanks!
Lay the pictures out on the floor before hanging them to get the lock you like
H&M sell the rug underlay hun :)

Left side as stair treads are wider there
Right side x
Right side
Is it white Emma? 😅
Katie I shall block you! 🤣🤣🤣
You need banisters
