  • Brand new! Hot off the presses! Hollywood Studio's newest E-Ticket dark ride is here! And what do I think of it? What does it mean for the rest of Hollywood Studios and dark rides in general? Watch the video to find out, you're not gonna find anything down here. But thanks for reading the description anyway. How's your day? Answer down below. I'm genuinely curious.

I like it a lot . It’s nearly impossible to not be happy during it , even after a dozen ride thru’s . The only scene I could do without is the dance room, feels like a temporary area in my opinion

    • @Wendish1971
      @Wendish1971 3 года назад +17

I wonder if that room can be used as a catch all / holding room if there is trouble unloading cars at the end of the ride. It would make it seem more seamless to have the dance part as long as need be. Just a theory. :)

I love your channel Adam! I thought about your ride video when it opened. I absolutely hated it 😂 the dance room was the worst. Shakes side to side way more than I was expecting. We had our 1.5 yr old and 3yr old on it since it’s an all heights ride and there should be a minimum for as much as it shakes you around. Wish the pre show was still showing during all this Covid stuff. Slinky dog dash and Toy story mania were much better for younger kids!

It truly looks like a feast for the eyes, especially from an animator like myself who loves the Mickey Mouse shorts. 😃

Okay, so glad someone gives this ride credit. Most of the videos I’ve seen (WDWNT especially stick out for me) are like “yeah it’s cute but this used to be Great Movie Ride so like it’s not enough to be cute and innovative. It has screens and that immediately makes it bad!!!!!!1!”
Also, the argument I specifically see is that GMR died for this ride, which??? I don’t think that’s the timeline of events? I know GMR died. I know that this replaced it. But it wasn’t like “we want to build this Mickey ride so we’ll bump off that ride based on IPs we (at the time) don’t own.”

I'm so glad Toontown is finally going to get something new after 30 years rather than just losing things. If this goes as well as I think it will, Toontown might become a not-to-be-missed land for me. I've always loved the concept of Toontown but almost every time I go to Disneyland, at the end of the day, I realize that I didn't go into the land and now it's too late because it closes early. Well, now that covid has effectively killed any possibility of fireworks being shown at Disneyland ever again (they were already skating on very thin ice before), maybe Toontown will get to see more hours in the day.

Runaway Railway is a bit of a mess, but not the bad kind. It's a chaotic whirlwind of chaos that is just a joy to ride through. I do wish that we got more from the animatronics, but that's what ROTR is for (if you can even get on it... it's really hard to get on, especially since they can only fit one party a vehicle now). While it's sad to see the Great Movie Ride gone, it had run its course, and its removal could be seen as the big step into Studios' new direction.

First of all, congratulations on getting married!! Second, I have some mixed feelings about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. I was part of the 2020 DCP (Disney Corona Program) which got cut short but I was thrilled to attend a cast preview of the attraction! I think the ride itself is delightful and keeps you on your toes. The preshow made my jaw drop, and the scene with Daisy was unexpected, but really felt like something straight from a Mickey Mouse cartoon. Not to mention I love trackless! With that being said, I really couldn’t get into the look of the ride. I’m a fan of the physical sets that Disney uses, which made the projections feel like cheating to me. And when I saw Mickey and Minnie themselves, I could not stop thinking they looked straight out of Bendy and the ink Machine. I had to physically restrain myself from saying “oh god”
Tl;dr: projected faces make me sad, trackless rides make me glad.

Personally I think the ride tech itself is amazing. If Disney keeps making trackless dark rides I am 200% here for it. The unique experience with each ride through and the expansion of dark rides to become more grand than ever before shows a lot more promise than Universal's heavy reliance on screens. The set pieces to both of these rides are amazing. That being said, I do have some less than favorable opinions on Mickey and Minnie. I think some of the set pieces tend to have no depth and I hate the transition into the underwater area. (Coming off of Universal's attractions that do similar effects, a little tilting on the cars would have gone a long way and both times I've ridden Runaway Railway it's pulled me right out of the illusion.) It's still a very cute and well done ride, just with a few flaws here and there that lead me to think Rise utilizes the tech better.
Also I liked GMR better. I think in terms of what the park needs, Mickey and Minnie is more of it, as it's a more timeless ride that will age much better (even if I wish they'd used the old Mickey Mouse art instead of the art for the new cartoons) but my nostalgia plus the use of the tour guides (I like things like Skippers and tour guides on rides, where there are Cast Members who can make each ride unique) mean I liked GMR a little bit more than I like Mickey and Minnie now.
Full agree though that the current park has now finally hit full day status. I haven't since there's not a reason for me to stay until the evening once I finish up in Galaxy's Edge, but once Fantasmic reopens the park will very easily be a full day park and I can't wait to see it become that.

Speaking of parks, I would love to hear your take on AK. I personally think it's the best Disney park ever created. Immersive from start to finish with several different over-arching stories which carry from land to land. Not to mention gorgeous details, incredible theming, and of course, really amazing animals. I gave up my second day at Epcot to see AK for the 3rd time on a 7 day trip.
Btw, you forgot Ratatouille (coming soon to Epcot) and Luigi's in DCA in your trackless ride rundown.

Congradulations on your wedding! Btw I agree that Disney should make more original attractions instead of movie tie-ins. Hopefully the succes of this ride will lead to more of these rides :)

My brother and I were there on the 18th and thought we saw you in line but couldn’t tell if it was you or not so we didn’t say anything :( it was one of the first things we rode so we thought we’d run into you again so we could figure it out but we never did! We both love your content since we are huge Disney fans and wish we had gotten the chance to tell you how much we appreciate your channel in person

Often overshadowed by the ride or replaced. I think if we only announced it for Disneyland, everyone would’ve loved it

Bob Chapek yes, Disney Parks and rides often suffer from guest sentimentality and childhood memories. Evolution and change is often welcomed (just look at the park pictures from 60 years ago in comparison to today) as the park carefully and gracefully matures, but there comes a time for new paths and direction.
Unfortunately for Movie ride, it was outdated when it opened, in too many ways. And today, I imagine that there were few people to champion it at Disney. This ride needed to go, Amit occupied valuable real estate in the park that needed to be developed in a new way.
I think it’s a great imaginative addition, and I think the technology will enable the ride to be easily enhanced to celebrate experiences of the seasons for the guest.

Your video popped up literally as I got to the inside portion of the line the ride this morning! I really loved it. It didn’t surpass Great Movie Ride for me, but that’s because I’m a huge film buff and is no way a reflection of the ride’s quality. It did meet my level of enjoyment though and I’m looking forward to many more rides on it in the future.

Great Movie Ride was one of my favorite rides ever, easily a top 5 for me. I will be forever salty I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to it and I feel like the taking down of it was the end of the Hollywood Studios I loved.
Despite that, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway railway is an incredible addition to the park and I do really love it. Hate that movie ride had to be sacrificed but Runaway Railway is incredibly fun, very cute, my third favorite ride at Hollywood Studios behind Tower of Terror and Rock N Roller Coaster.
I don’t think I can I pick between Movie Ride and Railway for favorite because I do want them both to feel loved, they both certainly deserve it.
I think I love Railway more than Rise of the Resistance just because Rise was so overhyped and it feels so stressful that with its downtime’s and boarding groups it’s not a guarantee to get on it. Rise itself is an absolutely incredible attraction, but doesn’t deserve all the hype it’s gotten.
Hollywood Studios used to be my favorite Disney World park because I loved its old idea and story, now I feel like it lacks a story and cohesive theming making it my least favorite park but still has some of the best rides, Tower being my favorite, Coaster might be a top 5, and Railway even possibly a top 10.

It’s my DREAM to get married at the Polynesian. I met my partner if 8 years there during our freshman year of highschool! We were in the Performing Arts program and it totally inspired me to do a college program. I ended up doing two, but i feel like it was just fate to be at the Polynesian at that time. Would you be able to break down costs and talk about your experience getting married there? We’re trying to decide wether to get married in Chicago or at the Polynesian!

CONGRATS I had no idea you were over 18 and appreciate the comment section being open along with the mini player for me that is a deal breaker for a channel. That baby face will serve you well for decades and DECADES to come.. Your children will be able to call you dad /brother lol. I do that with my dad and we love it (when mom isn't around to catch the Shenanigans of course😹). Lol
Nevertheless CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MARRIAGE UNION!!! MANY BLESSINGS!!! Although the oldest and being my original dream wedding my sister beat me to it. They did the Disney small wedding about 15 years ago at Disney world 🌎 here in Florida. Disney does it right!
As Disney goers 17$ a tix and less for kids it was a Florida weekend you could always look forward to. Which is why I Love your videos!!! It just brings me back and keeps me up to date on the current situations and changes. I think imo you do a great job on both parks being you're not in either if the states the parks reisde. I hope to really see you and provost pass do an in park Golan I think it would be awesome the 2 families doing Disney as content creators. But now this long winded thought is off track. Which is why I can relate so well every time you go off in a different direction. It's hard when there's so much Disney!!👀😹💌💎💍💘💞🎆🎆🎆🎉🎊🎈🙏🙌

Videos (never do justice) to the actual ride. I sooooo want to ride this. Congrats on your marriage! I would either get married @ Grand Floridian or in the Redwood Forrest in Northern, CA (out doors) I envisioned Princess in the Frog (as trackless + all the Disney "tricks" including smells) I still like roller coaster too, though the "life span" varies so much depending on how much wear/n/tear goes on it. I think Cali Screamin' has had 2-3 re-furbs?!!!??? since 2001.

Rode this a few weeks ago and instant clsssic. Gave me the goosebumps like I got the first time rode splash mountain. And yes, absolutely the trackless ride vehicles are the future. Time to gut and upgrade the journey into imagination with figment ride at Epcot...the possibilities for choose your own adventure type rides are now endless.

I wasn’t expecting to feel so into the ride and the cartoon world and I looked like this the whole time 🤩 I loved being trackless and moving around like even if you are the first car you’re gonna move to different position but still have the same experience and it was just awesome like 1000000000/10

I went to Disney at the beginning of August for the first time since this attraction opened and I had no idea what to expect. I had purposely not looked at spoilers for the ride and I am so glad I didn't. When all the cars split and I realized it was trackless ride I was blown away. It was the first trackless ride I had been on and they did such a great job. I love classic Disney rides and even though I was not the biggest fan of The Great Movie Ride I was sad to see it go also it was the first ride I went on. I love the Mickey Mouse shorts and going on this ride made me so happy. It is now my 4th favorite ride followed by The Haunted Mansion, Spaceship Earth, and Living With the Land.

Ratatouille in Paris is VOMIT inducing trackless, but I get motion sickness from Start Tours real bad as well. I live in Cali so no plans for WDW (never been), but I'm curious as to how the spinning/jerking of this will affect those of us more sensitive individuals! Another great video btw Dalin. Can't wait to see more content I'm sure you got from your trip. Also, your wedding photos are perfect and brought a little tear to my eye.

And, to answer your question; I agree that this update is quite fitting, as well as the other changes, but I will always have a soft-spot for the Great Movie Ride. the most mature attraction Disney had at the time.
