Hi Katja. I think you are one of the most authentic creators on You Tube. Your videos are so soothing and I love all your recommendations . Sending love from Australia x
I love Jack's original tags. They always allow for stories and reflection. This was fun to hear. I didn't find you until I was a Patron for Codex and by then you felt very polished and wise and I LOVE listening to you talk about books
Loved your responses to this Katja. I think it was when you were running the Discworld readings with Scott and Kevvie that I first started following you. So true the advice about other booktubers becoming busier or dropping out and it is ok! I’m always making new friends in addition to the ones I’ve had since the beginning. So glad you have stuck around as well and belated Happy 4th Birthday to you! ❤
Hey Jack, thanks a bunch! 🥰😘💛 This tag is a great way to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future! I really enjoyed your thoughts in your original tag video, and I'm excited to see what everyone else has to say.
It’s so interesting watching Booktubers evolve and find their true enthusiasms and voice. I’m not a Tag fan for the reasons you mentioned you don’t enjoy doing them very often, but I like these reflective ones that don’t require holding up a bunch of books. Happy belated four year anniversary Katja!
I totally agree! I might look through some of the tags I was mentioned in to see if they're more reflective or discussion types. You're right. With a hobby like this it really is a process of refining our individual tastes, too, trying the different readathons and then getting a clearer sense of all the things you love - down to gaining a preference for publishers.
I enjoyed, the afro drums on the first intro. I stopped doing intro's because they affect my audience retention. I still have comments that annoy me but I have become better at handling them. This was a great video. It made me do a lot of reflection.
I'd love to see your answers if you do the tag. That's a good point about analytics. Especially once I reached 500 subs, youtube analytics feels like it's been drilling me on the importance of retention in the first 30 seconds.
I’m interested in seeing bookstores and libraries. I’d like to film that kind of video, but I don’t want to bother learning how to do it. Tags done by the rare-tag-doers are twice as valuable! 😂
Thank you 😂. I appreciate the feedback on the bookish places tours. They require a lot of editing and I need to stop hitting slow-mo capture when I record 🤭.
I totally echo your sentiment and concerns regarding making a scheduled book wrap videos. Waiting for that "time" (end of month, or week) usually means having to wait with the enthusiasm just siiiiimmering inside you, especially if its a loved (or heavily disliked book).
Oh, wow! Didn't expect the shout out. 🤭 I wanted to add that pop culture from Japan and Korea has been really popular for decades in Taiwan. This includes music, manga/manhwa/webtoons, movies, and dramas (mini series). (Taiwan has manhua creators too that publish in Traditional Chinese.) A drama may start in one country and get a remake in another as a drama and/or anime. (Hana Yori Dango or Boys Over Flowers comes to mind.) Some random examples for the crossover from music to acting: SMAP, a J-Pop group, debuted in 1991. Some members branched out into acting with Kimura Takuya possibly being the one with the longest career in acting. You see the same happening in South Korea. IU, a very successful singer, also has acting credits to her name. V of BTS found his friend group while being a cast member of the historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth in 2016. So, literature in translation is another facet of this mindset that embraces (mostly) pop culture from neighboring countries.
Hi again my darling friend Katja....so GOOD to see your smiling face again. I am your friend who is 'nutsy fruitsy' about Alexandre Dumas and guess what I just found a pile of (new to me) AD books. !! Wow a couple of them are sincerely terrible!! LOL So nice to hear your thoughts, take care !!
It makes sense to wrap up books as and when you are excited for it! I do tags few and far between due to repetition as well. I am glad you enjoyed the liveshow experience and hope you enjoy doing more of them in the future ^.^ I think that is such valid about booktubers come and go or people get busy in life -- it really does happen and it doesn't mean they like you less and could just be lots of things happening on their side!
I enjoyed your responses, Katja! And I'm certainly glad you've continued to engage with the medium and focused on the positives. Being a RUclipsr still feels new to me, in many ways.
You and I started about the same time, and booktube was mostly folks in their 20s back then. Fortunately, I was able to find a few creators who were closer to my age when I started out. It was great to hear your thoughts about your booktube journey. I haven't been able to post lately, but I have no regrets starting my channel, and getting to know wonderful people like yourself.
Thanks, John. I think you and I also started to miss the presence of youtubers who started with us, like Eliza. I'm really lucky at the moment being able to post fairly regularly but sometimes booktube has to give way to other priorities. Thanks for the kind words and happy 4th booktube anniversary - possibly belatedly or a bit early 😊
OMG! I got to witness your first tag in years! Also yay! You did a tag video! 🥳I dunno if that helps but I found the "BookTube Newbie" tag when I was already a year on here. Haha! You were fast in comparison. Also I started my BookTube channel because of the pandemic too. Finishing videos and thinking: "Oh, no, I forgot to mention this." is so relatable! I write some "cheat sheets" still but I always forget some things I wanted to say. *lol* This was a great video! I loved to follow your BookTube journey and I'll stick around as long as you want to share your bookish knowledge! 💜
Thank you, V 💛✨️ I'm glad I found the newbie tag as it connected me to other booktubers, it was a lucky find or one of those instances where the algorithm showed me what I needed
Loved hearing your answers Katja. I hear you on the wrap ups. I’m still doing them, but have been toying with dropping them for a while. I don’t think I’m quite ready to let go of them yet though 😂
Hi Katja, I think of you as a friend and I always find your videos interesting and valuable. We share a love of translated fiction and I always tune in to find out the latest especially Japanese or Korean mystery. Thank you for mentioning My video I found many of your insights interesting especially about scripts. I don’t make one and it’s sometimes overly obvious.😂 I did not know we started almost exactly 4 years ago in August. I I’m not very tech savvy, but luckily my partner helps me with thumb nails, etc. I only use my phone and we have a lot of light in hawaii so that’s not a problem except I always tend to film later in the day I enjoyed your video. My first videos were very cringe and surprised I never got negative comments. It could be some respect for old age.😊 I’m glad we found each other. Aloha friend.

Thanks so much, Karen. That means the world to me 😊
I love Jack's original tags. They always allow for stories and reflection.

Thanks, Deea! Codex are so organised, it was cool as a patron seeing krypto and uno's upcoming timetable when they were on Patreon.

Aww, I'm honored to shepherd anyone through the door 🚪Glad you've expanded to new modes!
Thanks, Margaret. You were the first person to invite me on a Live 😊✨️

😊
That makes sense and also explains why netflix recommends the same series to me - just different country adaptations 😅
Such a great video about your booktube journey! ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊🎥✨️
Lovely, Katja! Happy 4 years! I think my 4th anniversary is coming up soon, or just passed? I have no idea. :)
Happy 4th 🥳💛✨️. I am going to keep the date in my planner now 😂 x
Oh, I am fairly close to Norwich. Thank you for the festival recommendation. 🙂 I am really enjoying finding some more UK based booktubers lately.
That's brilliant. Norwich and Cambridge are such brilliant bookish cities. Good to have them nearby (ish)
❤
Thank you 💛

@LeeKempter oh dear 🤭.
I felt the same way about some of Wilkie Collins' books. They font live up to The Moonstone or The Woman in White.

Thanks, Olivia. Glad to know we have similar takes on these things. Must be an INFJ thing 😉. I'd this tag appeals please consider yourself tagged x
