As a 28 y/o parent of a toddler and probably not in your target demographic, “mommy wine culture” drives me crazy and runs rampant on social media. Parenting has its share of ups and downs but I don’t need to self-medicate with alcohol in the name of self care to handle the ebbs and flows of parenting. My child is not a burden and I am so sick of seeing parenting projected this way on socials.

I felt this way when my kids were small. The "Mommy needs wine" trend started back then and it made me sad for that generation of kids being raised by moms openly embracing the idea that their kids (and husbands) were annoying, a bother and too much work. We had 3 sons in 5 years. It was sometimes chaotic or challenging but I would never want my kids to associate our relationship with me needing to drink.

I will preface this with I never noticed this until I deleted all social media two years ago… because surely I was guilty of the same thing. When you are out with a group of people, dinner, party etc and people are constantly on their phones scrolling through tik tok, Instagram, etc. People don’t even realize how completely insulting it is when you are speaking to someone and they reach in their pocket to check some alert they got. I could go on and on. People are wasting their lives with mindless time sucks like TikTok and I just refuse to give away that much of my time, brain power, focus, etc. It’s like living in a world of narcissistic zombies.

Totally agree about the books!! I was reading a magazine the other day and the woman in the article had turned all the books in her home office library - three bookshelves worth-back to front. So the pages showed instead of the spines. Because “it fit the aesthetic better.” Supposedly these were books she used, as well. How she found anything I have no idea! 🤦‍♀️

I rarely comment on videos but I smiled while watching this one! I live in California and I am a non drinking fitness trainer, if I could get my clients to stop drinking they would actually get their waistline back instead of the wine barrel they carry around! You asked for some other irritants so here goes. I am so put off by those stupid bears that advertise toilet paper, do they even need to advertise this? Doesn't everyone buy it already? LASH EXTENSIONS, please stop, they look beyond fake and ridiculous, is mascara really THAT difficult? I hate that's victims are now a status group, it minimizes real victims. Tattoo's, enough said. Pronouns, lets not further denigrate the English language, he or she is enough. The term "price point" just say price. The whole "farm to fork" thing, I'm pretty sure the food I buy in the grocery store was grown on a farm. Thank you again for having the right stuff to say it outloud!!!

Thank you for what you said about the drinking culture. Alcohol is so glorified in our society that if you don’t drink, you’re somewhat shamed as a goodie-goodie while those who can “hold their liquor” are praised and admired. Alcoholism has caused horrendous problems for so many families, yet few influencers ever acknowledge that.
My husband has been in recovery for 12 years. We have lost friends because we don’t drink or hang out in bars. I just wish our culture would bring more focus to the destruction of lives and families brought on by drugs and alcohol instead of glorifying it.

People using the nominative "I" with an accusative verb, which should be "me." E.g. "My mom gave it to John and I" because they think it sounds proper, but "to John and me" is actually correct. Told me, gave it to me, sat next to me, next to John and me, etc is correct. Case doesn't change when another person is added! Drives me nuts 😂

My only disagreement is about organizing. It soothes my soul when things are in order. I'm very visual and seeing a cabinet, drawer, closet uniform and in order makes me smile. It's personality and the way we were raised I think. Grow up in a toxic chaotic house and your room is the only thing you have for some semblance of control. That and being a Virgo (we're persnickety) I've got the double whammy. I love organizing and looking for that "better way to build a mousetrap" idea. I love making things more functional, usable and easily accessible. I get overwhelmed easily so order is crucial.

Agree 100 % with you about the organization of books by color ! Something even worse ? People who turn the book jackets inside out so all the books are white. I have a den that has all the walls covered with bookshelves so god knows how many books I have ( and love) and seeing all those shelves filled with books I have read brings a smile to me everyday!

How fun to have an opinion without worrying about cancel culture! I believe it was Oprah who coined the whole 'my truth' thing. Just means 'my opinion' but makes it sound more important, I guess. Pet peeves are adults saying 'like' before every word, calling the picture on the wall, a pitcher, calling adult women honey or dear by the waitstaff in a restaurant, not teaching children/teens to give up their seat to an elderly person. Back in the 70's or 80's parents tried to get the over sexualization of children through advertising etc stopped. They were ridiculed mercilessly. Slippery slope and here we are today wanting to sexualize children in elementary schools.

The sexual references on cosmetics have often stopped me from buying them because I cannot have them around my children. For instance, I wanted to buy the Better Than Sex Mascara and that stopped me. I even thought of buying it and covering it up with a Sharpie but I do believe it was embossed on. However I found the Thrive Causementics tubing one and have not looked back since. Even individual eyeshadow colors get lewd names. It's awful.

    2) People who are always on their phones. Whether it’s FaceTiming someone while shopping or taking selfies etc. just put it away and enjoy the day.
    3) People who go to the movies and don’t watch the movie because they are chatting with whoever’s with them or their phones keep going off. Just stay home.

Thanks for this video, Marnie. I’ve seriously wondered if I’m the only one that feels that way about all the things you mentioned! Another huge pet peeve of mine is going out to a nice restaurant for a relaxing dinner and not being able to enjoy it because of a group at a nearby table that is so loud, you can’t hear yourself think. This happened again a few days ago and it was cringe-worthy because the lady who was obnoxiously loud was constantly being shushed by members of her own party. I felt bad for them, as well as us! 🤫🤫😂

Thank you for sharing your opinions! I am loving your channel more and more! I'm binge watching you from Florida while the Super Bowl is on in the other room. I could make it my whole life without watching a Super Bowl game...and that's MY opinion on that topic. ;) It is also my opinion that the day of a Super Bowl is one of THE best days to go shopping! You practically have the stores to yourself! As for the platform shoes and crop top style, I lived through that trend MANY moons ago when I was in the 7th grade back in the early 70's, so I'll be taking a hard pass on buying into that again! I have no clue how to put on makeup like you did here, or even why and what you were doing while applying it but I was so intrigued watching you! You do it so effortlessly! P.S. I'm from San Antonio.

I quit most social media platforms (aside from YT) almost 6 years ago and I will say that was a wake up call to how much I was addicted to those apps. And also, you also realize who your true friends are. When it's not easy to interact with a "Heart or a like" most people don't put forth the effort.
As far as your opinions, I pretty much agree with most of these. Especially the Starbucks thing. I thought I was the only one that didn't care for Starbucks. I just don't get it.
Those platform heels take me back to my prom in the 90's. I insisted on getting these huge platform velvet heels. My mom called them my "streetwalker shoes" :D

My personal peeve: people on their cell phones with speaker on going about their business and talking back and forth. I don’t want you listen to your conversation. It’s rude. We were eating out and a person behind us got a call. They left their table (nice etiquette) but then stood behind our table and continued the conversation on speaker. Rude. Go outside, tell them you’ll call back later Or put your phone on vibrate. That way nobody has to hear it ring and nobody has to hear your conversation. The end.

Here’s one of my many pet-peeves: when people ( usually young men) refer to women as “ females”. 😡 That has to be the most ignorant sounding thing I’ve ever heard. I’m not talking about when one is referring to gender specifically but more so when they’re simply replacing the word “ ladies” or “women” with “ female”.
For example: “ Females love when I cruise by in my Ferrari”. That just happens to be one I heard recently. Just yuck! YUCK, yuck, yuck!
It always sounds to me like they’re referring to a female dog or something.

I thought of a couple more. I hate laminated brows. In a few years people are going to look back and wonder why they thought it looked good for their brows to be sticking straight up and plastered to their forehead. Pajamas in public. I cannot believe the number of people who cannot be bothered to put clothes on to grocery shop, etc. I'm also over all the loungewear. And let's start calling joggers what they are. Sweatpants. Some of them may be a nicer material but they are glorified sweatpants.

If you are not a sick child or college freshman you must put on sweatpants to schlump around in Walmart like the rest of us. We wake up and get dressed and that requires taking off what we slept in. I really don’t get a grown woman or man wearing PJ’s in public. Buy one pair of sweatpants in a basic color to run out of house and jump back into your comfy clothes when your errands or day over.

I knew when I was watching this video that I would love reading the comments! One of my pet peeves is listening to so many RUclipsrs over say a word or phrase. One lady II watch says “very” over and over again to describe a product: it is very very good, it is very, very, very creamy,, etc. Other girls that I watch say “definitely” about 50 times in each video or “absolutely love”. If you are going to speak for a living, please pay attention to this! Marnie, you do not oversay any words and neither does Lisa at lisalisad1. Your speaking styles are very conversational and natural! And congrats for not spending so much time by editing. ITS OKAY TO MESS UP A WORD OR SOMETHING. We all do it. 🤣
