Isn't life funny...we are a family of 5 with 3 young kids (9,8,1). The middle child is autistic and oh my god does that make life so much more of a challenge. I was born in Kadina and still consider it as my family's roots. I love motorbikes and have test ridden bikes from your dealership (a long time ago). I have chosen to buy a Mitsubishi Triton (MQ GLS being the plan) to be our tow vehicle for when we start our life on the road sometime in the first half of next year. Needless to say, I've subscribed. I was meant to see this video. We currently live inland from Port Douglas and have many acres of land all around, if you get this way, your welcome. Oh, and I'm VERY interested in the new Himalayan 450 (or 452)..but also the CFMoto 450MT. Cheers, Baz.
LOVE our Triton. Extremely capable off-road regardless of what the Toyota sheep bahhhhh.🤣 Ours has already done The Creb Track (including Bobs hill), Bloomfield, Tele Track (without chicken tracks) Old Coach Road. Just got back from 7760km trip to Victoria High Country and Fraser Island on our way home. Looking forward to seeing how the Maverick goes as we are looking to move into a hybrid in the next year or two and it’s high on our purchase list. Good luck guys and have a ball.
Wait untill your Triton rattle apart on the Gibb River Road...Thank god the road to Cape Le Veque is nou sealed....this is Australia mate....and why do you think they take Toyotas...mount a machine gun on the back and take it to war??? Stop dreaming because you can't afford a Toyota !!!!
Hi guys. As a carer of ASD kids in the foster care system I find them the most amazing kids challenging but extremely rewarding. When we started with our first autistic child I had to google autism to find out what it was so we are very much self taught on what works. After watching your first video can’t wait to see the rest of them . Don’t forget to pack your patience for your travels. Be safe out there.😮
Congratulations on making the decision to do a lap, you will not regret it and your kids will learn so much about this great country. Enjoy your time on the road, we might see you on the road
Margie you are the least 'stock standard everyday person' out there hahaha. You are fearless, talented, resilient, kind, open minded, inspiring and humble. BTW the quality of the video and sound is fantastic. Well done! Can't want to follow your trip.
Nice video, i can remember as a kid, my parents would take The Caravan from our house in Semaphore to West Beach Caravan Park. And dad would still go to work daily. During school holidays. Haha
Good onya guys we have 5 kids one asd add too we are starting to plan our trip in next 2 years really looking forward to seeing how u guys go about it all
that would keep you busy! how exciting, I remember 2 years ago talking about this trip! thanks - we'll let you know the ups and downs!! but overall has been great :) as I heard from someone, if the kids have a bad day you might as well have a bad day in beautiful scenery! :)
Looking forward to seeing how you guys go Margie. I've done around 16500 km's in a similiar hybrid (Southern Cross 13-16) in the last year. Cheers, Boggo.
That's fantastic! Thanks for watching :) so far so good haha with 2 kids anything could happen!! Harder than a day at work! 🤣 let me know if you're somewhere near our travels :)
@@margieandtim Heads up from experience, before you go too remote get Tim to pull the camper hubs off and check if bearings have enough grease and if the brakes are adjusted properly.
Ohh wow! We may see you on the road. We are leaving hopefully mid/late January and heading west as well. We got a 17month old daughter so would be great if we run into you guys. Also doing a lot of off grid. 😊
We did 3 months with our family of 5 and our dog in a similar hybrid. You’ll do great! it’s cosy, but comfortable. Looking forward to your travel vlogs
Great intro team, looking forward to the updates as you travel! We share a lot of world experiences with you (not to mention the flying 🤔) as eldest #1 is neuro divergent exactly as you describe - he’s 16 now. We have done many camping trips from an early age and found that the continual change in environment was the ongoing stimulation needed to keep the wheels on the rails most of the time! Safe travels, enjoy the adventure…
Keep an eye on this weather when your travelling around Australia. If the roads are closed or there is water over them, don't enter the area. Enjoy your travels..stay safe. .
Doh! We missed that one!! We went to pondalowie surf beach, but not the drive on beach. Next time!! Next fri I'll put together some footage of there. Beautiful location :)
@margietim I also put a blanket over the folded up mattress. It stops any dirt that sneaks in, and we also lay our outdoor chairs on top on the blanket.
All the best guys, we look forward to following your travels. We loved Barker Rocks in Yorke Peninsula, maybe check it out if you can. Have fun! Cheers Marg
Hi:) just subscribed. Sounds like some exciting times ahead and looking forward to following your adventures ( especially north of WA 😊, my fave place)
We did a lap when our kids were 5 and 2.... we kept saying we wished they were a bit older. 5 yrs later we're on the road again :) Enjoy its a fantastic experience.
Good question! They all bunk in with us, we have a previous video on the inside van setup - but quick answer, they don't sleep much... but cosleeping helps. :)
Problem is with the young age of the kids, they won't really remember anything about the trip in years to come. I'd be waiting till they're a bit older like 9 or so.
It’s not about weather or not they remember it. It’s about what they will gain and their growth as kids. Been on the road is great for confidence, social skills and resilience and all though important development traits.

ADHD in a caravan, this is going to be an interesting adventure for you.
This is going to be a good show
Hahaha sure is interesting!!! 🤪 at least we now know where every park, playground, spare lawn is to run around!!!!
Free or low cost camping is the best with so much more space than a caravan park!!
How good is it!! They can run everywhere and you don't need to worry about teaching personal space!! :)
I absolutely believe this is one of the best things you can do as a family, so looking forward to following along on your adventure. Travel safe!
Thanks very much, yes looking forward to time together :)

I noticed you took the linen off the bed before you folded the mattress in half. Just in case you didn't know, you can just leave the bed maded up.
Thanks for noticing! :) I've found the doonas a bit think, but will give it another try. :) anything to save time packing up!!
@margietim I also put a blanket over the folded up mattress. It stops any dirt that sneaks in, and we also lay our outdoor chairs on top on the blanket.
@user-ev3je5lk8r great idea with the chairs. Yes I put a blanket on top but that's cuz the kids love climbing up there on stops!! 😆

Do you have a WikiCamps link to the Kardina camping spot please? It looked like a beautiful spot ❤
We had 5 kids [3 girls 2 boys] and this is the greatest disapointent in our lives that we didn't take a year off to show 'em the place.
Oh cool ANOTHER one ...make sure you go to all the same places as everyone else
Haha will do! 😂
Problem is with the young age of the kids, they won't really remember anything about the trip in years to come. I'd be waiting till they're a bit older like 9 or so.
