The RAV is currently the best selling vehicle in N. America. Therefore, knowing Toyota, I wouldn’t expect them to stray too far from the current design.
RAV4 is not the best selling because of its appearance. A redesign of the irrelevant exterior while maintaining the reliability of what actually matters is all that is important.
I just hope by 2026 Toyota massively improves the technology offerings across all trims for all vehicles. Keeping physical buttons and a real shifter is all a must. And for god's sake, I PRAY they reduce the bezels on their infotainment screen; doesn't matter how large a screen they put in their vehicles if the bezels are that huge and ugly. And I'm not sure how it all works, but I hope CVT's continue to improve over time because I feel like they still delay acceleration quite a bit.
I don’t know why everyone gets hung up on the shifter - most of the time you only even touch it at the beginning and end of your drive. Kirk definitely agrees with you though 😂
@@williamfrench9973idk man something about having a regular shifter just seems so much more reliable and safe. Not to mention in a hurry/emergency it’s so much more intuitive to interact with.
Like most Toyotas, they need to make the interior nicer and quieter. Hopefully they won't compromise (further) the headroom back and front in order to make it "sporty." Think, Forester without the crappy Boxer.
I hope the new redesigned 2026 RAV4 would be slightly bigger, just like the 2023 redesigned CR-V! Also please no turbo charged engine. Also make RAV4 drive less like a truck and more like a sedan (better ride quality especially for rear seats passengers). The main reason why we buy Toyota is for its reliability and awesome resale value so please continue to shine on these two areas. Thanks!
I would like to see a new RAV4 Hybrid with 5th gen hybrid system, better sound insulation of wheel arches and double side driver and passenger glass, maybe some small design refresh, fixed rear cable connector corrosion issues (Cablegate) and some interior and trunk space improvements. It's a great vehicle in general. I guess we will see it as 2025 model year.
I hope the next gen isn’t just a reskin like the Camry that retains same dimensions. I like that AI design that was going around a few weeks ago. I wouldn’t mind if Toyota ditch bZ and just make EV versions of their existing lineup but on a seperate EV platform as opposed to a modified TNGA like the current UX300e… keep styling similar to the regular version just all the internals different
NEEDS to run a lot quieter with a smooth ride and responsive steering. Comfortable seats. And improvement in headlights and fog lights for night vision. add about 3 inches to the wheelbase and coordinate some nice color interiors with exteriors.OH and a power passenger seat available on the xle or at least in a package.
It's Toyota, they don't do big redesign and typically just give cheap upgrade as well, especially now they have crown models. This is why they will keep Rav4 as normal as possible, and not hurting their crown brand. Just like they will eliminate Venza soon as it is hurting their Lexus brand. Don't get your hopes too high. Toyota knows people buy Rav4 for reliability, and its pricing has gone through the roof lately!
RAV4 people are interested in two things most of all: That would be reliability and fuel economy. Power is not even on their list. RAV4 Prime should pretty much come full-equipped. At this level, there's shouldn't be more than a 15k difference between the entry car, and its maxed out version. Any more beyond that and you begin to enter the territory of the next higher level car. One more thing, hanging on the center mounted shifter is just old-fashion (like a growing child that want to hang on to his blanket). Its not a manual transmission, so there no practical interaction. You put it in gear, and go about your business. The rest of the time, its just in the way of a lot of what could be usable storage space. More car makers are beginning to figure that out, and buyers appreciate it.

Please toyota, make the new rav4 look like the new land cruiser!!!! This is everyone's dream because none of us can afford the land cruiser, but we all want one!!! 😂
I’m going to disagree with the boxy shape, I feel the rav4 is in a spot where it gets great gas mileage and provides great utilization of shape, it can be a highway cruiser but also have some off road capability, I just don’t see the need for another off road vehicle, I’d love to know where everyone is going with all these off road models
Agreed 😊 I Believe the RAV4 Will be a Shrunken down version of the Grand Highlander. Hopefully it Will Have an Updated Hybrid System, More Interior Colors & New Software Entertainment system.
I always thought the 4th gen and previous gave more of a baby off-roader vibe than the new one. 5th gen feels like the tried to make a 4Runner and the old highlanders into one and it’s massive which is sad to see
Would the next gen RAV4 be body on frame land hopper that everybody is talking about, this way Toyota would have three cross overs Highlander Full size, Crown signia Midsize and Corolla Cross compact size and three body on frame trucks Sequoia full size, 4 runner Mid size and affordable RAV 4 compact size in it’s line up as many people can’t afford Land Cruiser’s, there is a very good chance for that.
I agree, i think the remodel will take on the aesthetic of the new SUVs and trucks, i.e. blockier and chunkier elements will feature more strongly than on the current model. That's not a bad thing, off-road the RAV4 currently is competent and reliable on slightly challenging off road tracks, while maintainng it's very good manners and behaviour and comfort too on the road.
Love this channel! I have a 2008 Lexus RX350. Should I wait for the 2026 RAV 4 hybrid or buy the 2025 model year with all the bugs worked out? Sadly, can't afford a new Lexus.
I currently have the 2018 toyota RAV4 hybrid greetings from Canada but im waiting for the 2025 toyota BZ5X i have seen it with flush door handles no rear wiper and 900 kms per charge
In California unless you pay 10k markup, there is 1-2 year effective waiting list for RAV4 Hybrid and 3-5 year wait for RAV4 Prime. That is why Lexus sales are up so much, because no dealer markup at Lexus. So Toyota could make no changes for 10 years like Tacoma.
They could squeeze more mpg out of the Rav4 if they made the front more areo. Its current design creates multiple spots for air to stall and become turbulent. The wheel wells are too open and trap air too much. Edit: If there is a Rav4 EV, they should just call it the RavE.
One thing I really wish is Toyota rotate their video screens to portrait mode like Dodge Ram uses. It is much more practical in a vehicle. I don’t need a landscape video screen in my vehicles to watch movies and play video games.
@@lornestein7248 the CX7 looks great, plus having that I6 hybrid is just gravy on top. Just bought my wife a 24 Lexus NX350h, she loves it. $52k OTD cash, MSRP and no add ons. coming from her RX350 the NX350h is a such a gas saver. We also considered a Porsche Macan base, Tesla MYLR and a Lexus NX450h+. The Porsche is her favorite, then 450h+, but I was not too keen on writing a $70k check. She did not like the Tesla at all, feels flimsy and “rattlely”. Also looked at RAV4 Prime and Venza Limited, but we wanted a semi luxury brand.
The RAV4 being a unibody on road SUV it should look inline with Toyota’s other unibody on road SUV. Leave the rugged look for the Land Cruiser, 4 Runner, FJ Cruiser, and Baby Cruiser ext.
Kirk we own two Rav 4 2021 Primes. Smartest car out there. Most people commute less than 40 miles. Why haul around a heavy battery that you will only use 15% of the range? On vacations when you need range you have a naturally aspirated engine that gets 38 mpg and I can tank up in 5 min. Who wants to mess around on vacation with a car load of kids looking for a Fast Charger which is like looking for a unicorn and a level 2 will waste hours of your time.
I’d like the Rav4 Hybrid to have a smidge better towing capacity and more offroad capability. I want a vehicle that I can daily drive with great efficiency and still be capable of getting me to fun places on the weekends.
Agreed. The Hybrid powertrain from the Highlander offers a 3,500 lbs tow rating in a bigger vehicle. If they put it in the RAV4, it can tow at least as much and cut half a second from 0-60 times without hurting mpg. An upgrade to the rear electric motor will aid traction on and off roads.
I’ve heard Dealer markups can raise the actual sales price of Primes by 10-20% in some markets. This may be one reason why the Tesla Model Y has out sold the RAV4.
Partly. Model y also had rebates and huge price drops over time. The most major thing though is that Tesla focused on producing mostly model 3 and Y for last few years where as R4P is only produced in Japan on two Toyota factory lines.
@TheDebu18 This is exactly the time to dream. Before any official images or announcements are made DREAM LARGE. You may not want to hear this but 6-8 weeks ago Kirk was assuring us the Crown Sport was coming to North America and we would miss out on the wonderful Estate. I kept daydreaming and at one point I even asked Kirk to sneak an Estate home in his luggage on the return trip from Japan. Now the Crown Estate/Signia is real . Th Crown Sport can be real too.
Indiana plant already makes the Highlander, Grand Highlander, Sienna and Lexus TX. Do you think they’re going to expand and add new lines to that plant?
Kirk don't you think the "boxy designn" will go the 4 Runner way ? It's already e any. RAV 4 needs to stay mid size. That's where they are killing it. Love the reporting !
I hope they switch this to the TGNA-F platform! Would like to see a full F platform line up including RAV4, 4Runner, and Land Cruiser. Would also give Toyota more reason to bring the Crown Sport!
Nice overview. You emphasized the software updates and I'm curious if you know anything about insurance companies (at least in the USA) paying automakers for data so they can do risk assessment or even raise an individual policy because of driving data?
The RAV4 Prime does not need more power it just needs a longer range even if it's 80 or 90 mi range versus 42 to 50. Working on motor efficiency should help get there
The dealer I purchased my 21' Rav from, said they showed the new Rav at a convention Toyota had. That's why I am surprised there are no photos out there.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee there's no doubt both Toyota's and Subaru's CVTs (have not tried the Honda nor audi one) are miles ahead of both Nissan and Mitsubishi's units. Reguardless, I have yet to find a CVT that does not mutilate the "spirated" driving experience. Whenever I drive a CVT rental, whether it's a Subaru, Toyota or Nissan (I avoid Nissans as much as I can when renting) they feel more boring to me and that takes the fun out of my commute. Overall, at the end of the day, IMO I dislike all CVT's (especially Mitsubishi and Nissans) because I find they detract from the driving experience more than a traditional automatic

I hope the new Rav4 will have the similar styling of the BZ4 with smaller wheel gap than the current huge wheel gap but without 2 tone color; delete roof rail; slightly lower; more aero dynamic; more powerful electric hybrid engine; have tachometer in the dash at least for the base hybrid model like the Cross Hybrid so that I can see the whether the gas engine is fired up and the RPM; more quiet interior and similar to the new Camry interior design with a integrated screen. If my wish is granted then I will consider trading in my 2018 Q5 at 2026🙂
The Rav4 interior is near perfect to me functionally. The only thing that looks out of place is the multimedia screen. The screen needs to be imbedded into the dash somehow. It looks like an afterthought, tacked on. Give us a bigger 12" + imbedded screen. More soundproofing and somewhat upgraded materials, done.

Curious.. what do you think the next Toyota Prime vehicle will be and when. Assuming similar 2026 when the new battery plant opens. Truck, or SUV Prime. Grand Highlander Prime, Sienna Prime, Tacoma Prime? 4 Runner prime?
Hoping they put in better sound proofing materials. I was thinking of buying a 2024 Rav4, but when I started hearing about how noisy wind noise can get. Think I'll pass for now
Do you have any Intel on the Land Cruiser in Canada? The preorder has started in 3 colours, black, white or brown sugar. Never seen these colours before.
For me, I want more off-road and a better, more Subaru-like AWD system. Maybe the teaming arrangement between Toyota and Subaru can result in the Rav4 and the Forrester/Crosstrek/Outback having similar systems which maintain the symmetrical AWD with X-mode, but I want a PHEV. I actually doubt they will do this, as their biggest market is folks who never go off-road, mostly just like the look/feel of an SUV and who like the "swoopy?" Lexus-like styling.

A boxy Rav4 with active shutters should be able to get good mileage. EV model might need to be lower to ground.
Excellent work thru THX
The rav4 is the dodge minivan of this generation, does it even matter what it looks like? People buy it cause they need it not because they want it
Agreed 😊 I Believe the RAV4 Will be a Shrunken down version of the Grand Highlander.
2026? I thought the next generation RAV4 was coming in 2025?
The thought is the Prime PHEV redesign is 2026. Regular hybrid update coming 2025.
Love this channel! I have a 2008 Lexus RX350. Should I wait for the 2026 RAV 4 hybrid or buy the 2025 model year with all the bugs worked out? Sadly, can't afford a new Lexus.
Any word on the Toyota EPU coming to production? I have an ev but would love to replace it with an AWD compact ev pickup.
Hard to say man. The concept was impressive though and didn't seem too far fetched for a production model to come. Probably 2026/7 at the earliest.
@@KirkKreifels I would be fine with that time table, I thank you for your reply and for your coverage on everything! You rock man!
just make it look like the “Ferrari Purosangue”😊👍
thanks 🙏
I currently have the 2018 toyota RAV4 hybrid greetings from Canada but im waiting for the 2025 toyota BZ5X i have seen it with flush door handles no rear wiper and 900 kms per charge
In California unless you pay 10k markup, there is 1-2 year effective waiting list for RAV4 Hybrid and 3-5 year wait for RAV4 Prime. That is why Lexus sales are up so much, because no dealer markup at Lexus.
So Toyota could make no changes for 10 years like Tacoma.
San Francisco Toyota are discounting $1k on some Prime SEs, XSE are MSRP, wait time is 1-2 months.
Paint options, wheel design and sleek front style are my thoughts to consider
For plugin hybrid the only things I care for are: price, battery range and charging time.
I hope they go more like the Crown Sport style
Or maybe they can just announce the launch of Crown Sport in North America instead of the dull Signia!
@@lornestein7248price of the Crown sport will be at least $10k higher then an RAV4 XSE hybrid. That’s my guess.
@@jml9550 Good point but I've been saving for 2 years and am ready to pay that price.
Now I think I'm waiting for Mazda CX-70 Inline6 Hybrid.
Agreed.
agree👍 .
make it look like “Ferrari Purosangue”!!
You mentioned the Crown Sport may still be released in North America 😮😊 I hope so, Ill be trading in my Rav 4 Ltd Hybrid
The 2025 model of the Camry has made significant improvements and is quite impressive.
Will there be a tougher TRD Offroad version? If hybrid, how will that perform in the outdoors compared to current TRD Offroad model?
I’ve heard Dealer markups can raise the actual sales price of Primes by 10-20% in some markets. This may be one reason why the Tesla Model Y has out sold the RAV4.
Partly. Model y also had rebates and huge price drops over time. The most major thing though is that Tesla focused on producing mostly model 3 and Y for last few years where as R4P is only produced in Japan on two Toyota factory lines.
Crownsport rebrand as rav4 and coming to US
Just a dream
Could be.
Would never happen but a 2 door with removable hard top or soft top and manual transmission like the first gen Rav4 would be pretty neat.
There is no harm in asking.
I want ~ 100 miles on EV only. If they can do that I’m sold. We have a 2021 RAV4 Prime and love it. Problem is 50 miles is NOT enough for me.
Best version of rav4 was 05-12 with the v6
facts
Kirk don't you think the "boxy designn" will go the 4 Runner way ? It's already e any. RAV 4 needs to stay mid size. That's where they are killing it. Love the reporting !
I hope they switch this to the TGNA-F platform! Would like to see a full F platform line up including RAV4, 4Runner, and Land Cruiser. Would also give Toyota more reason to bring the Crown Sport!
I want more power , space, and mpg
Nice overview. You emphasized the software updates and I'm curious if you know anything about insurance companies (at least in the USA) paying automakers for data so they can do risk assessment or even raise an individual policy because of driving data?
I prefer the digital shifter because it is easy too get used to and the massive real shifter is a massive eyesore.
A real shifter is comfy too!
I have a Honda Ridgeline with the button shifter. Never again - it’s a miserable design, and quite frankly a safety issue.
@@matthelms4167Toyotas solution is not a button shifter
@@KirkKreifels to each their own but it would be surprising considering even the Prius has a digital shigter
The RAV4 Prime does not need more power it just needs a longer range even if it's 80 or 90 mi range versus 42 to 50. Working on motor efficiency should help get there
A turbo rav4 would be dope
and make it look like “Ferrari Purosangue” !!
I could see the Hybrid Max power train in the Woodland edition.
Dacia nailed the design on the new Duster.
Man I cant wait. A compact adventure awd hybrid is exactly what Im after!
I currently have 19 RAV hybrid XSE! If they turn this into anything that looks like a bronco forget it! i'll go to A Lexus
Toyota should bring back diesels in Europe. Also a thoroughbred GR model preferably with a manual gearbox would be really nice
The dealer I purchased my 21' Rav from, said they showed the new Rav at a convention Toyota had. That's why I am surprised there are no photos out there.
Toyota takes phones away when they show upcoming models.
I would most likely get one, if it looks rugged like the Landcruiser.
Toyota, if you see this... Bring back the MANUAL Rav4
😂 you will be sad when you find out its going to be all hybrid
Don't expect much it's probably gonna be 100% hybrid and CVT
The New Taco is has many trims that will come in as manual, it's rumored that the new 4runner will follow suit... My fingers are still crossed for the Rav4. Nobody expected the GR Corolla. As a rock climber, the Rav4 is really all I'd ever need to get to where I need to get to in Kentucky. Having it in a manual would just be fun, I miss my '03 5-speed Corolla S. @@mikej238
Subaru of America replaced my transmission for free in my 2013 Outback back in 2021. I will never by another one again. Unless it's a WRX and I don't plan to keep it past 100k miles. In 2019 I paid the dealership $2400 for the solenoid fix that is common in the 2013 Outbacks. 11.5 months later, the same "Subaru Christmas Tree" on my dashboard showed up... Long story short, it paid off going to the dealership for everything. Subaru did the right thing.@@Brian_Eugene_Lee
I hope it looks better than the new 4runner. Build quality and anti rattle solutions needs to increase as well.
Hey Toyota! Bells and whistles! Bells and whistles!
Lighted running boards awesome tailgates extra storage bins panoramic view etc.
If my wish is granted then I will consider trading in my 2018 Q5 at 2026🙂
this is going to be beautiful if it looks like this. loving the boxing shapes coming back
The conclusion taken from this video is Kirk doesn't know, and has only an educated guess, what the 2026 RAV4 will look like.
I have a 4th gen and the 5th never did it for me outside the inside almost didn't change, I would go for the Signia styling for sure if I want pickup styling I'd go for a Tundra
I'm thinking about buying a new 2025 Camry LE Hybrid FWD (next year) but Do You have any info When WE may See the New RAV4 Hybrid?
Curious.. what do you think the next Toyota Prime vehicle will be and when. Assuming similar 2026 when the new battery plant opens. Truck, or SUV Prime. Grand Highlander Prime, Sienna Prime, Tacoma Prime? 4 Runner prime?
I agree on the interior. Please, please, please keep the real shifter and knobs!
Do you think there's still a good chance the crown sport makes it to the US?
Hoping they put in better sound proofing materials. I was thinking of buying a 2024 Rav4, but when I started hearing about how noisy wind noise can get. Think I'll pass for now
I say boxy because it’s a Recreational Active Vehicle
translated timeline graphic of e axel at the end was a nice touch
Looking for power on both front seats. And ventilated seats would be a real bonus!
