This is what the internet was invented for. Utterly magnificent. Mitch throwing shapes throughout the set without any hint of irony or self-consciousness. Glad to see they’ve hit form again in the past few years. Perhaps the most under-rated band of all time. A bit like The Fall, once you become a fan it’s like a religion.

i think a U2 fan, exposed to this, might take a step in the right direction. i mean...i had enough after WAR, but theres much worse...i hate sunshine and rock bands. definitely saw this line-up way more than post-Toby. they just never played his awesome songs, which kinda frustrated me after a 3 hour backbreaker set. i think Little Whirl is a top 10 gbv track, i dont think he has a bad one...Esters Day another crusher. My only beef. And some sets, an hour too long. But ya cant leave...the Jon Stewart Show performace is smoking. Back in the 90s, Bob had a listed phone number...my friend used to call him and chat. A band much less hip than their fans...

I bet Jane was supposed to be one of the bonus tracks on UtB,UtS but they cut it (for length maybe) and then they decided, correctly, that it was too good to be a b-side so it was shelved till it could be a big deal a-side on what was gonna be a big-deal record. Didn't know what to expect. They came out in their matching silver jackets and blew me away for 3 hours. Best show I've ever seen. im going to say it, do the collapse is criminally underrated and quite frankly i cant understand for the life of me what some of the fans see in a record like bee thousand while panning to me one of their greatest records. under the bushes under the stars is undoubtedly their best though.

Deaner... have you changed your mind about Bee Thousand? Or are you still wrong? Haha jk, GBV rulz

@@lotsofciggies listened to a ton of gbv lately and I still think the same, do the collapse is a masterpiece and bee thousand is a collection of musical doodles that are brilliant just sometimes. tractor r@ pe chain would be one of their best songs ever but the rest of the album isn't up to that level.
Another underrated album of theirs that needs more love is half smiles of the decomposed by the way.

From The Boston Ornithopter, Sept 97: 'There wasn't much for drummer Kevin to do, as the others took to stools for a scheduled acoustic interlude (apart from beat on a barely audible tambourine). But he more than made up for it, with his enthusiasm, wild exhortations, cries of 'Allright' and 'Get Down', and lively 'Way Out' dancing'
